Maybe Jack just picks up the picture because they look similar and he knew that his wife cheated on him and he happened to be in the same town. He wanted to make sure it wasn't him. So the question then becomes...who stole Jack's wife away? Who was in Jack's town? We've already established that Shannon was for the death of her father...who else crossed pathes with Jack?

To "train an army" that could stand up to the others is totally fucking implausible.

The Others have lived in the "jungle" for years and as shown so far, have an excellent understanding and awareness of the environment in wich they live.

Ana Lucia's city cop training could never stand up to the others. Heck, the others could spy on the entire fiasco while Jack and party thought they were getting prepared.

Fuck Eko. Most overrated character on television. HEY EVERYONE IT'S A BADASS. K. Glad to see Jack get more attention, seeing as how he is the main character and all, as well as my favorite. Always liked his flashbacks. His flashbacks had an obvious reason. Jack never chose to give up, always persisted....and he lost the woman he loved. That's why he gave up when Kate was threatened. I did think the shark was going to be jumped with the Others scene, but it ended when it needed to and the shark was put back at bay. I did like that last line though, and does everyone know Sayeed's past? I thought it was only Hurley? Anyways, that Others scene felt like it was going to be pure exposition which I despise, being it wasn't.

Here's a dumb question:
Did the bearded Other announce that his name was Zeke, or did Sawyer already know who he was?

Yeah, it was just one of Sawyer's jokes. When has he ever called anyone by their real name?

If imdb's listing is anything to go buy, his name is
Mr. Friendly
.

If beard man knows about Locke trying to get into the hatch, than he must also know about Desmond. You don't let people get into a place full of guns unless you've planned an encounter well ahead of time (which was the case for this episode). I'm wondering if the IMDB listing about that actor being "Kelvin" was right after all. He and the original people on the island would have been responsible for the button to begin with, but then he could have faked his own death to see how long Desmond would go along with it.

The other that I'm not sure anyone has mentioned - did the text on the computer really go away just in time for Jack to not think anything was wrong last week, or is Michael "thinking" he sees a message on the screen? Locke mentioned before that nothing can be typed into the computer before the 4 minute alarm starts to go off, and Walt is supposed to be Psychic.

And why did Goodwin seem so suprised about the other Hatch if the others already knew about them?

This episode had good potential but ended up being kinda lame due to shitty writing imo.

1. The bearded guy tells them to leave his island, even though a few days earlier he tried to kill the 4 people who DID try leaving. Blowing their raft up, shooting one of them, kidnapping the others kids and leaving them for dead in the ocean.

2. They come face to face with one of the others, who is doing no harm to them and is asking questions. Beard Man gets all his questions answered, but no one asks him crap! Jack says they've been on the island for 50 days, but doesn't ask how long 'the others' have been on the island for example. Now I don't care if beard man answers any questions, but I want the characters to at least ask some and not act like morons.

3. Personally I don't really care about Jack's flashbacks anymore. This flashback was so predictable and didn't tell much, and ruined the pacing imo. Jack's had three flashbacks already this season while some other characters have had just one flashback total.

That was a cool ending line (even though he should've asked Sayid instead), I'd like to see a war between Survivors vs. Others. I'm guessing that will be the season finale.

Interesting episode. Unexpected finale as well, and next week's episode sure looks good.
Although, I hope this is the last one regarding Charlie and his heroin addiction. This side-story is getting tiresome.

I really didn't miss Eko that much, it seemed we got back to the original characters everyone loved. I didn't realize how much I missed Sawyer until this episode! :D

Jack's backstory really took the cake, though, surpassing the (anticlimatic) meeting with the Others, aka St. Nick. I really felt for the poor guy, after seeing what his wife did, I can see why he's really shying awak from Kate.

All in all, a satisfactory episode.

After what he did to Sawyer in the first season? Yeah.

Jack's had two episodes this season by my count...

Loved and hated this episode. The flashback was good but I wish it wasn't right in the middle of the action. And the others talk could've been better. I didn't see the preview last week thought so when I heard that guy call jack in the dark out of no where I almost had a heart attack - scary. :lol

And as been said before, jack should've gone to sayid for the army thing. This definitely means more air time for anna. =\

Eko, Sayid, and Locke are the ones that should train/head the army. We'll see though, this is only just the beginning.

As far as the Others blowing up the boat goes, they tried to get Walt in a peaceful matter, but Michael just wasn't gonna have any of it. They simply resorted to other means to get what they came for.

No Eko makes me sad. But the lack of AL the last couple eps has been nice.

Oh and I hated that bitch on Ed(stupid whore could never make up her mind) and now I hate her on Lost. Oh who a I kidding my hate for he on Ed carried over to lost the second I saw her.

okay, i think the show officially jumped the shark...

Negative ;). It almost did.....dangerously close. I am talking.....by a fucking inch. That Other's scene did not sit well with me, felt out of place and like it belonged in some cliched thriller.

I just finished watching the episode.

Ugh...on the whole, I thought that it was terrible. I was nearly bored to tears until one of the Others made his presence known. I thought, "Hey, now we're getting a chance to see who these people really are, and get a chance to talk to them." Then I remembered and thought, "Oh wait...we saw that in the first season finale."

Not only was that meeting meaningless, but it was basically a complete rehash of what happened in the season finale: they speak of Walt, cryptic messages are thrown about, and then they leave without gaining any thing of any importance. I mean, how in the FUCK can you have a face-to-face Island confrontation with the others and let it end with such stolidness? It's extremely irritating.

I read an interesting review about how this show is sizing up to be another "X-Files" (I never watched the show but I learned about its major faults and why people are/were so pissed off at it). If this show carries on like that, I'm going to start losing interest.

And I'm willing to bet that that "train an army" pipedream was just Jack's frustration talking. I wouldn't put much stock into it going any further than that one suggestion.

I loved it, most of you expect too much, it had great drama and was pretty powerful, I'm sure we'll get more 23rd Psalm kind of eps for the rest of you

seriously, this episode was probably the worst ever, i mean, the flashback did nothing and the current events didnt either.. usually at least one of the two is pretty good...

as soon as the chick mentioned the pregnancy test i said "i bet she's cheating on jack" and just sighed...

I concur with most. Pretty lame episode. And the previews for next week don't look any better. This won a Golden Globe? Yikes!

well, this one specific ep sucked pretty bad, but most of the other eps are anywhere from great to brilliant...

and as far as next week goes.. hey, Veronica Mars will be new next week too, so at least i know i won't be totally disappointed...

What's so special about CafePress?

I like the few little things, like the "lost" reference in the opening sentence, the second picture from the top on the left, "My war work begins at breakfast." :lol

I enjoyed the episode. It moved things along a bit, showed us a bit more of the others, and what they are up against on the island. The flashback revealed why Jack isn't married any more. Not a bad episode, and the ending was sweet.

Now, my big question. If you're heading out to find Michael, and moving into Other's Territory, I'd be happy to have Locke along, and Sawyer to a degree. But I sure has hell would have asked Sayeed and Mr. Ecko to come along for the ride. Now that would be a raiding party. Locke, Sayeed, and Ecko are the most capable men on the island.

But they're also the next line of defense. If you send all your best men out and they get slaughtered, who's left? Hurley?

I think the break may have fried some brains.

These last two episodes have probably been the best this season.

Too many people in this thread running around with hard ons for 24. 24 makes this seem slow you say? Does it have anything to do with the fact that there's been 4 episodes of it this week? Besides, Lost isn't all out action anyway.

Not a great episode, and yeah a frustrating lack of answers at times but not too shabby. We're in the first couple of weeks of at least a 6-week run of new episodes, the writers are going to hold out on us unfortunately (haven't seen the preview for next week though). I expected some update of wtf Michael was up to at the end of the episode. Hope we find out soon!

It wasn't the break. It was the 4 hours of 24. Just about anything is going to pale by comparison. I was happy with the episode though.

Sweet, that southbeach shit was painful.

That was one fucking stupid episode. The appearance of the Others and that old bearded guy's corny speech, plus Jack's lameass reaction to him.

The only way Lost can redeem itself now in my eyes is if Jack and Michelle Rodriguez's character train the rest of the survivors into badass warriors and they go and slaughter the Others one by one.

Of course, that is the most retarded path to take.

A friend of mine works on the "Lost" set and I was able to find out a very interesting tidbit. What I'm about to say will probably have you guys rolling your eyes thinking I'm fucking with you but I assure you I'm not. So here goes:

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Locke is one of the others. You heard it here first

Do we really need an "army"? Has Jack ever considered the possibility of going to war with only a party of five?

O.K., that was good :lol

... Then why the backstory?

Locke is the best character on the show by far IMO. His backstory is #2 behind Mr. Eko.
That would be a huge mistake if they made him an outsider. 90% of the other survivors are worthless, they need Locke around to keep the show interesting

I thought it was a good episode. Not great but definitely not bad.

I liked the line from Jack's wife about how he will never be satisfied because he will "always have to fix things." I think I'm a lot like him in that regard.
Yeah, I felt the same way, too.

I'm glad I kept watching this, Lost is really something. :D

No.

It's no secret that this episode went NO WHERE. The show itself is remarkable (the dialogue, the scenery, the atmosphere, etc), but storywise, is stood still this time.

Im convinced now that the others, or the bearded guy at least was part of an Army task force sent to investigate the signal, it explains how they move through the jungle silently (training) and their discipline, it also explains why they only take certain people, they only take who they can use.

It also explains Ethans skills.

'Zeke' also looks like he could have been on the island the required 18 years.

Im guessing they've come across one of the other experiments, thats why they needed walt. God knows why though.
