I'm glad the writers are still finding way to tie into the first season -- i.e. the scratch given by the French woman. It shows the writers are still planting things to fcuk with us later.
They mentioned the scratch at the end of the first season.

An entire episode without some pointless bullshit flashback? My mind is blown. They need more like this.
Technically the 'lab' stuff was the flashback, just a flashback from a time where they were on the island.

How though, I don't see how cutting his hair atoned him from his sins or something like that.

My guess is that he's just been growing that little beard-thing since they crashed, and therefore since the night he killed those two men. Eko does weird things. Like waiting forty days to speak for no apparent reason. And supplying heroin to half the world.

When does this hit iTunes? I really want to watch this tonight...

Fairly average episode imo. Things happened but I don't know that I actually gained any understanding or true insight into anything outside of the stuff in the locker. The locke thing at the end of the episode seemed out of place and odd. The French Women wasn't bad in this episode. I thought Mr Ecko was going to be interesting in that bit but not so much.

A step up from frog hunting with all the actual useful background info but no real solutions in sight. It felt like big things were afoot midway through the episode and then it all sort of petered out...

Not bad though. Hopefully they'll spend more time information giving on the others and eventually get back to Michael and Walt.

Pretty average. I can't stand Claire, so that didn't help.

And even though the writers revealed some new stuff to us, they bring up nother 10 or so questions that probably won't be mentioned again until, say, season 4.

:/

a friend of mine who works close to the set said in the next episode
Walt will come back....as a woman
.....I bullshit you not!

Great episode.

Show that the others are not the Jungle people we thought they were.

? What did Ecko cut with his knife in the shape of a V.
It wasn't anything in the shape of a V, it was the two pieces of his beard (representing the two guys he killed). By confessing his sin to the person Ecko saw as the closest person to family that the two guys he killed had, he absolved himself of the sin and could continue on his righteous path.

Did anyone else find it out of character for Locke to so easily fall for the captured guy's BS about Jack always calling the shots? I would have expected Locke to see right through that and realize the guy's just trying to create a power struggle.

It would bug me. Shitty flamebait always infuriates me. The smugness, and the obviousness in which he said it pissed me off, so I can see how it would irk Locke. I was more bugged by the manner in which he said it than what he actully said.

That was totally out of character for Locke so I totally agree with you. The only thing I can figure is that Locke is so clever that he's letting Henry Gale *think* he is influencing him.

:lol

That would be awesome wouldnt it.

Sadly, I don't think Lock is THAT deep. Plus, Lock's facial expression showed he was truly upset.

So yes, it is way out of character for Locke to fall for that.

Gotcha :)

Couldnt tell properly due to the quality of my viewing.

Lockes actions on towards the end shows that he doesnt want to be second, trampled on, or told what he can and cant do.

As seen in the flashbacks with his father and his boss at the box company.

Well, Locke did always hate other people telling him what he can or cannot do so I can see him reacting that way.

Awesome episode. Very interesting...

i was hoping that was the case because otherwise it just makes him look dumb...

From the Locke flash backs you can tell he is not 100% stable. The guy has been through a lot, he even 'stalked' his father after he used Locke and threw him away like a bag of garbage.

Now, Locke sees himself as a changed man. A leader in his eyes that people need and look up to, but what the captured guy said struck a cord. I would say he is afraid of being used then thrown away like he was in the past…and he knows deep down that Jack is everything he wants to be in the group ‘hierarchy’.

I thought this build up of hate between Jack and Locke was very clear and has been building up since the start of the show. One way or another they will fight for the postion as group leader down the track...IMO.

I thought it strange Locke would make so much noise knowing the guy could hear him..his reaction and need to be leader seems fine with his character and the fact he is upset that he isn't.

I think the biggest goof of the episode was Kate immediately pulling the gun on Rousseau. That made absolutely no sense at all.

I just finished watching the episode. I was about to say that it was really good, until Locke started interrogating Henry. I mean, what the fuck? I am totally confused.

Anyway, I couldn't help but think about the beard that Kate saw in the hatch when Locke cut some of his beard off:

Maybe it means something, maybe it doesn't.

And also, the clothes Kate saw. It looks like the same shit Eko is wearing:

No offense, but I think you're kind of wrong here.

That was a great ep!
It really gave another insight into the working of the others, now you just know they're evil bastards, they remind me of Umbrella for some reason, I'm also curious about this mysterious "infection". But I'm glad baby Aaron is fine. We also saw Alex (who is a looker) and we know that she's good.
Can't wait for the next ep.

Spoiler/Theory on Henry Gale -
Apparently he's only gonna have 6 episodes, so it's 2 out of 6 so far. I wonder what's gonna happen to him? I'm thinking that he might get infected somehow.. or already be infected..

I think he's there to complete the list that Ethan never got to do
before going back to the Others after 4 more episodes
.

Umm, the beard is obviously a fake one that was worn by the doctor we saw talking to Ethan - he wore it when he held Kate hostage in the episode where he was all like, "This is our island, we just let you live on it." I believe the hat Kate pulls out is also one we saw him wearing on the raft attack at the end of Season 1, I can't be sure though. It's implied that the whole "rag tag island Others" thing is a complete fabrication (though it does seem rather convenient that they'd seemingly abandon that facility and leave all of that incriminating evidence there - too convenient).

I don't know if you guys have seen anything else with captured guy in it, but he played Williams Hinks in an episode of the practice and he played this part to PERFECTION. He had everyone on the show going by basically playing mind games for three episodes or so.

A reprisal would be perfect. His vocal tone is perfect.

BTW, good news! there's not gonna be another gap after this 3 week one! According to the producers..

According to the epguide, there's going to be another 3 week wait after the March 22nd episode. The next new episode after 3/22 is scheduled for April 12th.

Maybe that's changed recently however, which would be good news indeed. These sporadic new episodes after weeks of re-runs will only hurt the show. Three of my co-workers who like Lost missed last night's episode. They were doing other things because they've become used to it being re-runs. I'm sure they're not the only ones, as casual viewers will tire of trying to keep up with when the new ones are on. Now I have to burn them DVDs so they can get caught up. :)

They said, at the airport, if he didn't have the proper forms, he'd have to fly back home with an empty coffin. Well...
After his mega speech, I think he was able to get the coffin on the plane. Remember that episode where he finds the coffin, slooooooowly opens it, and finds nothing inside? I doubt he'd care that much if it was just some random guy, plus what the chance that another person on a plane had a dead loved one loaded on board?

Jack's father is somewhere, man.

Which makes me think [conjecture, but I'll spoiler anyway I suppose]
in relation to Ethan, maybe no one stays dead on the island unless the Others want you dead
Though I guess the coffin could have just flown open during the crash and the body fell into the ocean - I can't remember if Jack had to actually break it open when he found it.

I thought about this too - and I don't think what you're saying is farfetched at all. The question I then have is does this imply that Henry knows about John's past and using that to his advantage? Actually that sorta makes sense since he seemed absolutely terrified of Eko, and considering his past (and if Gale knew about it), he probably thought he was a dead man.

I'm also beginning to think that they are living in some kind of biosphere or perhaps something akin to what Mr. Truman was confined to in the "The Truman Show".

or should I say "GIANT BIO-DOME"!

Let the Hilarity ensue when Pauley Shore joins the case next season. :)

Last episode I was bitching that the pace was going too slow and they weren't answering any questions.

This episode was MUCH better in that regard, and now I find out we're going to get 1 new episode in the next month and a half.

Jesus fuck.

Stupid fuckin world baseball classic! I hope that thing bombs so bad that Bud Selig kills himself. What a stupid fuckin idea.

I don't understand the complaining about the gaps between episodes. Veronica Mars, Smallville, and basically every show on TV have the same spaced out schedule. It's the only way you're going to be able to show 22 episodes (or 24 in the case of Lost) in 35-40 weeks.

Yea, but those shows.....well......really really suck.

Those clothes in the locker, didnt the guys in the boat that took walt wear beanies like the one kate was holding? I think it's a tie-in to that.

I was thinking too about the leader without a beard in the flashback, has anyone worked out for sure if its the same guy from the confrontation? Its been a couple of months now i guess since they lost claire, clearly they decided to abandon the facility after that, still, probably not long enough for him to grow the face rug.

The Locke thing is interesting, i think the conversation about the prisoners good hearing 2 minutes before he went nuts outside was probably no coincidence. I think he touched a nerve, locke doesnt want to be told what to do, but im sure he was just playing up for the prisoners benefit.

One WTF, has Sayid just given up on the whole interrogation process?
