Low-key, simple fun games with active online multiplayer?

I'm wanting some more silly fun games that can be played online that you don't really have to put a lot of energy into as I find myself feeling too lazy too often to bother with a bigger game.
I've got Rocket league, Chivalry, and I think I'll pick up Gang Beasts and Ultimate Chicken Horse soon.

Are there any other obvious ones that are some silly fun that work online and have players playing that you recommend?

Renegade Ops comes to mind but I haven't tried playing that online for a long time.

I'm not sure if it fits the bill, because it gets pretty stressful when you get better, but Speedrunners is fun and has a decent active community. Also, Duck Game.

Does it have to be PVP?

Thanks I have speedrunners, but as you said it gets pretty stressful, and duck game looks fun but probably adrenaline fueled too, though I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the suggestions. I think it doesn't have to be pvp, just good silly fun.

I think worms probably falls under this category...but it's a bit too slow paced and I've been playing it for decades.

Splatoon if you have a Wii U or want to get a Switch. Ranked mode can get plenty rage-inducing but non-ranked is three minute matches with a wide variety of skill levels (except during Splatfest, ugh).

I HIGHLY recommend you check out Awesomenauts.
It is the best unknown indie active multiplayer game you have never heard of.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is a great pick up and play class-based 3rd person shooter. I highly recommend it, and the player base is healthy on console, not sure about pc

You know, I was thinking about Splatoon just now too. I think I'll grab it, have a WiiU already. Thanks.

Apparently I have it, will check it out thanks.

I was thinking about this too, really enjoyed the first one. Forgot why I didn't get the sequel. Thanks, will get it.

Oh, I didn't know that Gang Beasts had online multi-player. It's a really fun game to play with friends offline, so if you can I recommend playing it IRL too.
Also, even though Overwatch is not that simple, playing some quickmatches or the different modes on the arcade doesn't require to put that much time or energy into it, and I haven't been having so much fun on an online game since TF2.

That's how I felt with overwatch too...and then I started getting into ranked...and it's just not worth the effort. Made it to diamond and stopped lol. I should probably go back and stick to quick play.

Battlerite's fun, but if you don't like PvP, maybe Warframe? A relaxing loot grind is always fun, especially when the mechanics are that good.

TRACKMANIA

Turbo or Nations/United Forever. The former for a more simplified, chill experience. The latter if you want to see some crazy shit. It's super relaxing once you get into the groove of a track. Pretty sure there are demos floating around for these and Nations Forever is free anyway.

Running With Rifles for sure. It's chill, low-effort and goofy fun distilled into a videogame. You can play team deathmatch or co-op where you take objectives vs (millions of) bots, which can get pretty crazy and is a lot of fun. It went 1.0 about two years ago I think and it's still receiving regular updates.

King Arthur's Gold is great for this. It's sort of like a 2D Chivalry. There is so much chaos that the actions of a single player don't matter much.
