Absolutely loved Alan Wake 2. It's one of the few games that has the magical ability to convince you that you are in another living, breathing world.

I have started to consciously divide my gaming to "mechanics game" (Elden Ring, Nioh) and "world games" (Silent Hill 2, Alan Wake). They scratch different itches.

I just finished this tonight. First game I've finished in a while so that says something. But I was pretty much forcing myself to play through it. It went on too long and I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Yeah the graphics and atmosphere basically kept me going. But I don't like the combat, the alternate world and clicker I found annoying as hell. To traverse 5 minutes into the game your constantly changing realties. It was not a fun game to play for me. At times I was like this isn't done yet still, omg.

Played up until you start playing as Alan. Just never went back. Now it's got PSSR on Pro and I own it on Xbox lol. I do want to play through it at some point.

It is flawed but i still loved this game. One of my favorites of the generation. It definitely went on too long, the flashing jump scare images were used wayyy too much as well. Combat could've been better. The story probably could've made more sense too ha.

It has that feeling of being on an adventure coupled with solving a mystery that I love when a game does well that manages to outshine all the negatives for me. Also, the survival horror elements and great atmosphere/amazing visuals. I really value these things in games. I feel like its a must try game at least but wont be for everybody.
