I just started watching it this past week. My brother was always raving about it and my coworker owns all of the single issues of the graphic novel, but until now I hadn't watched it. I got the blu-ray pretty cheap. My brother saw I brought it with me and wanted my Mom to watch it as well.

Needless to say we are near the end of Season 2, with us having watched Season 1 in a marathon. I wanted to stop watching so I could look at Black Friday deals online, but my Mom wanted to continue watching.

I knew they weren't going to shy away from things after the opening.

The acting is great. I was surprised to see the guy from Love Actually as a Zombie Killing Sheriff. I like Rick, Darrell, and Glenn. The cosmetics are great too.

The only thing I don't get is the number of Zombies and how the
girl
became a zombie. From what we know Zombies should come from bites and scratches, mostly from someone that got away after being attack, someone killing the zombies attacking them, or the zombies leaving for some reason. It isn't likely that a person that is completely eaten should come back as a zombie, since they have no muscles. Are we to believe the girl got a bite taken out of her neck and the zombie quit or she got away?

Rick explains at the end of S2 to all of the audience and the gang why the zombies turn and what not. It's pretty awesome. I was Team Shane until..well I can't say. Now I'm team Ricktatorship.

I've just started watching it recently as well. Watched 7 episodes in a row yesterday! I think I'm now up to S02E04 or 05
Lori just found out she's pregnant

what I dont get is that every time the walkers get somebody, they tear them to shreds
but most zombies that you see are still in one piece like they werent mauled, just decaying

If you enjoyed the horribleness of S1 and S2, it's fair to say that S3 is going to blow your precious little mind.

So. Damn. Good.

Season three has been alright so far but at times I feel like I'm just seeing the series out instead of actually enjoying it. My wife and I spend most of the time plotting how some of the characters should/will die. Some characters are great, but I've found that most of the acting is pretty poor.

We see some with guts hanging out and what not.

It's safe to assume that the ones ripped to shreds won't be walkers, since they can't actually walk and what not.

Also, another thing would be that most walkers originated from the first wave, now that they're so numerous and there's almost no food left from them as far as survivors go, they go hungry and eat like pigs when they get the chance.

Finished S2 last night, one thing my GF and I wondered;

If Lori miscarries, would the baby be a walker? Because that would be pretty fucking impressive, a walking newborn.

Overall, I love the show, there are some pacing-issues and the kid playing Carl has a shifty performance, ranging from good to terribly over-acting. Also; Lori should not be able to take all this hardship while weighing 60lbs. She was cute as a button in PrisonBreak, but starvation did not treat her well.
So far, Daryl seems to be the only one with his head screwed on straight.

Just started watching this as well. Was tempted to read the comics as well, but wasn't sure if it would ruin the show for me.

Nice, wanted to do a LTTP thread on this.

I finished season 2 and am now 2 episodes into season 3.

Things I like:
- Sweet zombie gore
- decent action
- The
woman with the samourai sword in season 3 was badass
- Amy = milf

Things I don't like:
- The sheriff guy's acting. It's horrible. The way he leans over and tilts his head when he delivers another one of his melodramatic shit speeches leaves me eye rolling for the rest of the day.
- The stupid kid needs to die. The first time I saw the kid I already hated him and was picturing the stupid 'kid is in trouble' scenarios. Of course these happened and hes a burden on the characters and the story. Except in season 3 he seems to be a bit more badass.
-
The coolest guy on the show dieing even though his acting was horrid too
- People always going along with the super bad decisions of the sheriff guy.
- In season 3:
they arrive at the prison and could easy keep stabbing the zombies trough the fence. But instead they just go in and start bashing them in a melee fight (dumbest shit ever).
- I'm scared every season will just be them at a certain position for the whole season.
Season 1 was the camp, season 2 the freeway/farm and now season 3 the prison...
- The sheriff suddenly turning into a rambo
- No nudity (even from the zombies).
- Makes no sense that these zombies could take out a tank.
- There are a million soldiers lieing on the street but all their guns are gone? OK.
- No progression whatsoever. Ok there was some kind of reveal at the end of season 2 but that's it...

I like the show because it makes me think what I would do in a zombie apocalypse. Needless to say I would do almost everything different and better. The guy with the crossbow is my favourite character. He just doesn't give a shit. but I can't stress enough how I HATE the acting of the sheriff guy. It's like he knows only 1 emotion / acting style. It's so so bad. The way he was crouching and talking trough that walkie talkie in seasons 1 trying to reach the black guy and his kid. My god that deserved a Razzie or what you called the anti-Emmys. It's one of the worst shows I've watched but for some reason I can't stop watching it. Very strange.

Am I alone in being scared shitless by Dale? Dude was walking around with his eyes stretched wide open all the time.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, where are all the silencers? Is it that hard to find a silencer for a weapon?

Aside from impressive production values, it's really not that great of a show at all.

I'd call it a guilty pleasure, but I get very little enjoyment out of it these days. But still, I keep watching...

They find them off screen inbetween season 2 and 3.

2 > 1 > 3

Am I crazy? I marathoned season 2, which probably added to my enjoyment of it. I'm just not 'with' season 3, there's too much bad stuff and the good stuff just isn't interesting enough to counter the bad stuff.

That's the exact opposite order of most people's opinion. F the Farm.

I think the pilot alone propels Season 1 to the top of the heap, even though the rest of the season was pretty weak.

You mean Rick? The main character? The guys name that is mentioned like 5 times an episode? Who has been onscreen for about 60-70% of the time since it started? That guy? Looks like you are really paying attention.

Also, Andrew Lincoln is awesome. Your opinion is wrong, and you should feel bad.

yes him, like I said the show sucks and the characters suck too. There is no story or character development. I just forgot his name that's all. His acting is really terrible.

His head is always turned like this when he is talking to someone and he turns on his batman voice:
the-walking-dead-pretty-much-dead-already-mid-season-finale-2x07-rick-wont-quit-shane.jpg

He does that pretty well but it only works for so many situations. If that's the maximum range of your acting capabilities you suck as an actor.

But I still watch it for whatever reason.

I admit TWD is a bad show, but I watch it for the laughs and the gore. Total guilty pleasure.

I've only seen Breaking Bad and The Wire, but I don't think TWD is a bad show at all. Pretty good, actually. Certainly much better than those dumb hollywood zombie movies (including the overdone slaptstick comedies)

I only watched the first episode but it bothers me that all these people are so goddamn attractive. It's a zombie apocalypse but with catalogue models.

The movie/TV show snobs will always find a reason to hate the show, but it's one of my favorite shows on TV right now.

I really hope AMC keeps TWD going for at least a few more years.

I don't think we're watching the same show. Several members of the group look pretty haggard including Lori, Shane, Darryl and Carol. Plus, over time, they all seem more and more worn down. Unlike Revolution for instance, where everyone looks like they just stepped out of a fresh shower with clean clothes to pull on.

Considering it's the highest rated non-sports show on television right now, I think its safe to say it'll be around for awhile. It's pretty impressive that it generates a larger audience than even network shows.

*googles pictures of these people*

What? Come on. Darryl looks he could star in a Levi's commercial.

I still enjoy the show, though. I should probably buy the first season.

I think it's above average, but that's about it. It's not a patch on Breaking Bad, and although I enjoy it more, not as good as Mad Men.

Yeah I'm really loving this series. Caught season one beginning of the year on Netflix. Was like "wtf? where's the rest". Get an email saying s2 was up so I burned through that. S2 was pretty damn boring and just had me pining for it to end so hopefully we could get some movement (plot and location wise) in S3. Now we're back to it and I can't get enough. Seriously though, fuck season 2.

Pretty much, though the last few episodes when Glen Mazzara got the reins were better. Though clearly when he's able to stear the whole season, he can produce a much better result than Darabont. For a series, anyway.

Like Ninja said ur opinion is wrong

Take a 2 hour story and drag it into circles for 40 hours with no end in sight. And to call this series vanilla is giving the flavor too much credit. I'd prefer unflavored.

Lol, a 2 hour story? I'm absolutely sure competent criticisms can be leveled against the show but so far we've seen little of that in this thread.
