LTTP and I wish I never arrived: Transformers

I actually fell asleep during this movie and woke up at the one cool bit: Megatron ripping another bot in half.

I didn't like the design of the robots, it looked too...... busy.

To be honest, the only thing I wish never arrived was this damn topic.

PS. I gonna go and try to find some movie figures today and start a collection. So awesome.

:lol

Eh, the movie would have been great, shitty cardboard thin characters aside, if the camera work would have been much less shaky and the final battle between Optimus and Megatron didn't cut in the middle of it and then went back when
Megatron kicked Optimus's ass

Maybe you can jizz over it in a "GAF watches: Transformer for the eleventh time" thread.

It's one thing to insult Transformers. But insulting the GAF Watch threads is another topic entirely.

FWOARRGH!

seriously, i think lots of people just haven't seen what good action scenes are supposed to look like. Quick cuts and close-ups are either hiding poor CG or poor choreography.

I'd be okay with the crappy comedy, the goddamn hackers, and all the humans if at least the transformers' scenes were well shot.

i love it when people act like a dumb, fun summer blockbuster about robots beating the shit out of eachother doesn't live up to the memories of the dumb, fun 22 minute toy commercials they used to watch as a kid about giant robots beating the shit out of eachother.

Indeed, this movie was hot garbage. The only thing that even comes close to the misery of actually having to watch it will be having to read all the Bey cock sucking that will commence on here after the sequel hits theaters.

Movie was awesome. Fuck the haters. Fuck the haters in their tight little asses.

All I know is this; if little Forceatowulf were to see this movie he would have shit him self with excitement inside the theater. Right on the spot. Eyes-wide shit spewing excitement.

I wanted robots killing each other in epic battles and that's what I got. Plot? Writing? Who gives a shit? Let's not pretend like the Transformers cartoon deserved some kind of fucking Emmy. It didn't. I watched the Transformer cartoon when I was a kid for the same reason I wanted to watch this movie. Badass robots blowing shit the fuck up. I don't know what you people were watching, but that's what I saw when I was a kid. I couldn't have given a shit less about "character emotion" and "writing" when I was a kid and I didn't give a shit now.

It always blows my mind when people expect award winning drama and writing from movies based off 80's Saturday morning cartoons aimed at fucking 5 year old's. What did you people really expect going into this? I mean honest to christ? It didn't denigrate the Transformer namesake, if anything it helped it tremendously. So they got a few names wrong, so they had too many human sub plots, so what? I probably wouldn't have even noticed if I saw this movie as a kid. Actually, I know I wouldn't have. I would have been too busy shitting and cumming my self with joy.

I came into this movie expecting the same thing I got from the cartoons as a child. Badass Robots, big explosions, shitty human characters that mean nothing, cheesy lines, absurd plots and more explosions. I got exactly what I expected. If you honestly expecting anything more than this... well then quite frankly, you're a jackass.

for all my defending of this movie, i do have to admit having two sequels is kind of pushing it. there's really no need for any more, other than to make money

exactly. people seem to forget their inner kid when it comes to these kind of movies. they don't know how to enjoy things. i bet every hater here will go see transformers 2 within a week of its release

:lol @ people expecting anything but thin characters in an Summer Blockbuster rendition of an old child's cartoon. Plot??? HA!

Movie was exactly what I wanted. Action, a hot chick and cars turning into robots and beating each other up. The CGI and action alone makes this movie 7+.

So its unreasonable for a movie that was adapted from a child's cartoon 20 years ago shouldn't satisfy the tastes of those same children 20 years later? if you're talking nitpicks such as Megatron not turning into a gun then I agree. Shut those people up!

Love to see people who hate transformers reduce their arguments to what consists of a bunch of insults to people who love it.

It's great to see the bigger man, the more eloquent and intelligent of us to make use of his extensive vocabulary, worthy of superior intelligence form, use his capabilities to make himself look like a child.

:)

The movie didn't really suck, but I just wasn't really into it at all. I left the theater without any real feeling of satisfaction.

Megan Fox, nice CG and Steve Jablosky's score are pretty much all the movie offers me. I expect similar things from TF2.
This. But I'm going to see the second one just for Megan Fox, so I don't mind.

Sorry but most of the posts seemed to fly way over your head.

There weren't enough explosions and Transformers beating the shit out each other. All the boring stuff got too much screentime.

I wasn't addressing those complaints. I actually agree with them wholeheartedly.

I was addressing the "The writing sucks!" and "The plot was a mess!" and my personal favorite "They raped my childhood!" crowd.

Dude, almost every scene in that movie gangraped the best action scenes from the show. If I saw this movie as a kid around the same time I was watching the show it would have been a no contest of which one was the more exciting to watch.

I don't know how much more epic you wanted this movie to be in terms of action, but your expectations were clearly far greater than they should have been.

Agreed. But I still liked it anyway. I hope that one day, they'll make Transformers movies without humans. It's not like people paid to see Shia Lebeouf and his croones run around. They wanted to see the damn bots.

As I said, watching it a home improves it IMO. Slow forward and frame-by-frame <3

And GAF loves Transformers, just take a look at the Transformers 2 thread. This sequel will have a lot of things people bitched about, like more robot action and better fights. Crazy that doing this stuff costs money, right? And that you can´t just go a few millions over budget for 50% more frames per fight. Now with more money, faster hardware and higher budget they´ll do a lot more in that regard, I´m sure.

And Bay stated that some scenes in the movie were just for kids, namely robots hiding in the garden. Nokia bot anybody? Well, I laughed. Transformers 2 will feature two Autobots just for kids, one voiced by Spongebob. Take that haters:lol And the last fight in mission was disjointed because they got some blocks quite a bit away from each other to shoot it.

And I liked the focus on the humans, it makes sure that everybody knows the basics, the robots don´t appear from nowhere and nobody will be suprised at an all out war between way more robots in part 2. Optimus called in all Autobots and Starscream was shown leaving earth.

I think Bay really knows his audience and doesn´t take himself serious and just want´s everybody to have fun. The end.

But that won´t stop the nay-sayers from having their own opinion on the internet. Wow, that´ll show those millions of people hyped for the sequel! But I´m not surprised, some people here love Speed Racer...

Am i the only one that liked the way the action scenes were shot in this movie? They are filmed from a human level perspective to give the size of the robots scope and to give you that overwhelming feeling that a person witnessing it would feel. I think it makes the action more interesting and I don't really find it hard to follow at all.

are you saying that people that like Speed Racer are in the same minority opinion camp as those who are likely to hate Transformers?

I loved it, just like I loved pretty much all of Bay's movies.
The Rock, Armageddon, Bad Boys 1 and 2, The Island, and Pearl Harbor.

Do I think they are great movies? Not really, but I think Bay also gets that. If he can continue making fun entertaining blockbusters, I'll be more then happy to split with a Five to be entertained for 2 hours.

Also, Transformers 2 Looks so fucking awesome >_<.

One of these is not like the others

Pearl Harbor was a shit movie!

Lets make a movie about friends who fuck the same chick and throw in a battle scene for a few minutes and make it seem like its all about that battle.

It's a pretty and really cool movie, but Bay should have gotten the GI Joe license, the military bits on Transformers show how horny he his for military hardware.

to be fair it tries to offer drama of many people going into and out of that timeframe, including the president, the military, us intelligence

it was really inaccurate though and perhaps offensive with the portrayal of the Japanese

anyways I was really impressed by its effects, having first watched it a week ago. :lol

Thought the movie was good in theaters first time I saw it. Entertaining at least. Second time I watched it at home, I was all 'wtf is this shit?'

It's weird how this movie used to be fairly well liked when it came out but now almost everyone seems to hate it.

Heck, I went into the movie with pretty low expectations being a huge G1 fan and hating the mess of the designs, but I came out of that movie with a smile on my face. The inner Transformer fan enjoyed what I saw.

Come on, hearing Prime's voice didn't please anyone? Hearing just the opening with his voice got me in the right mood for all of it. I even really enjoyed the introduction of the Autobots meetng in the ally. When they started all talking it just felt like Transformers. Heck the little nods to the original G1 line was nice too. Having Bumblebee next to a VW bug, Megatron telling Starscream that he's failed him once again, probably the biggest smile out of me was when Prime said to Megatron, "one will stand, one will fall". There was enough of a feel of Transformers to me that even as a big G1 fan and having all sorts of issues beforehand just ended up enjoying what I saw. I won't buy the new toys, but I'll certainly watch the movie again.

I think it's just an OK movie to watch on a Sunday afternoon.

At first I hated it but after a couple of times it's not THAT bad, but in my heart that movie isn't transformers is "Big Robots Crash on earth part 1" loosely based on Transformers-

I hear Devastator is goin to appear on Transformers 2. Let's hope they do something that actually looks like Devastator
