Her mouth is so awesome. I love when she breaks into that big grin, she has a very emotive and expressive face.

And btw you guys talking about OST music like it matters beyond the show... smh... this is like a Final Fantasy thread.

It fucking matters.

I've listened to the BSG music so many times it's probably amongst my most listened music of my entire collection.

FRELL[/QUOTE]

It's probably just my brain interpreting things, but "frell" was always just enough different that it never bothered me. I always just accepted it as stupid "alien" slang, perhaps because it's not as harsh a word (ends with "L" instead of "K"). Hearing the word "Frak" is like drinking RC/Big K Cola, when all you want is a Pepsi/Coke.

I really need to re-watch Farscape again some day. Does it still hold up?

Same for me, I actually listen to
Kara Remembers
in particular on an almost daily basis its what i listen to while im having a smoke before going back to work at the end of my lunch break, gets me pumped.

You know that Portlandia skit where they become addicted to Battlestar Galactica, and then Dr Who? Yeah, the boyfriend's brother linked that skit to us when we were about halfway through season two. That's totally us.

BF convinced me that we had to watch this after a run of some very good shows (The Wire, Treme, Louie), and I had assumed it was SciFi schlock in the vein of Stargate (sorry, guys). I cannot get enough of it. If I could sit at home the entire day and watch it, I absolutely would. Put me in the anti-Roslin camp.

Right now we're about eight or so episodes into season four. Will be very sad when there's no more Battlestar to consume, but at least then we can start in on Dr Who. ; )

This says more about your music collection than the quality of the music.

i can barely keep a straight face typing this

We need to sit down with an ipod at the next meet, man. I need to teach you about the world.

:P

The music in the series is just fine. Although they kill Watchtower. Can you imagine that scene with Jimi's guitar? Would be the greatest thing ever.

It's like a Bluejib when you really just need to get frakked, right?

I'm on the second half of season 4 now btw
the discovery really takes the wind out of the show's sails doesn't it? Luckily the mystery of the final cylon is keeping me hooked. That and Tigh's transformation this season, he's been incredible.

I'll leave it at this. Just because you have an opinion doesn't make you right nor an expert on music ;)

I know, I'm just a terrible OST troll. I understand people listening to the Black Eyed Peas easier than TV show OSTs, it makes no sense to me at all.

Best show EVER. I watched my box set last month going to do it again.

The show was EVERYTHING.

I always say Frak too :) it's fun

Check out Blood and Chrome if you like BSG or Caprica :D

Have to be the meet up after next, don't think i'm around on the suggested meetup for March :(

Heh.

Because it's music that required effort to compose:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEhlAA85_tY

Now that I see your example I understand you just hate properly composed music and prefer pop-songs, that's okay too.

yes, I can't stand properly composed music, it drives me mad. Give me some Katy Perry any day (says the guy in a post rock band).

As I say, it's not that it's bad - sometimes it's very good. For TV music. When they did Watchtower and that epic pan, I got the warm fuzzies and tingles, it was awesome. But most of the time it's in the background and is quite homogenous. When you've heard one track of tribal chanting and drumming with a middle eastern flute thing, you've heard em all. I think that OST suffers a lot when divorced from context, and a lot of the time the real draw is coming from the associations the listener is bringing along as well.

But this is the same reason I don't dig too much ambient music either. I need a hook somewhere.

Basically I'm sayin that Starbuck's theme has nothing on Fireworks yo.

Guess OST's are a bit like marmite.

Plus I'm a right cunt :P

I do conceed that BSG has good music in the show though.

How do fans in general feel about
space Iraq
btw? I thought that storyline was utterly mindblowing, but it did kinda break the show at the same time. I think they had a few too many time skips and I never bought
Lee and Dee or Kara and Mr Kara (oh that's bad I can't remember his name...)
even for a second.

Oh me too one of my nicknames between my friends is actually "Barry the Cunt" :P

The space Iraq episodes weren't the best but they were worth it just to see Galactica jump into the atmosphere in the rescue mission.

OP,

I'd also highly recommend Caprica after your BSG watch is done.

Its not BSG, but it does expand on the universe, and its a shame that it only lasted 19 episodes. But the last 5 minutes are worth it.

I still haven't seen one second of Blood and Chrome. Because I'm pretty sure that's going to be it for this version of Battlestar. I'm holding out as long as I can. :(

The second season looked like it was gonna be awesome, Fucking SyFy.

I was a huge fan up until the Cylon/Human romantic interests started taking prevalence over the main premise. It was a great show though with some excellent ship designs on the human side. Enjoy!

Roommate and I have 2/3 more episodes to go!

With all this music talk as much as my roommate loves to talk about character themes on BSG, they don't hold a light to the mastery of Michael giachinno

To be fair Human/Cylon relationships were a big part of BSG from the start.

Absolutely loved it the first time I watched it. I just so happened to get into the series at a point where I coincidentally caught up to the airing of the final episode. I was lucky to catch that wave, despite missing out on all the (surely) exciting discussions around all the prior episodes.

With that said when I tried to do a rewatch I couldn't even make it through the first season.

With the whole thriller-mystery aspect of the show effectively neutered what was left just wasn't enough to keep me going.

I was pretty gutted about that to be honest.

Will do man, my sci-fi fire has been well and truly reignited!

I haven't finished it yet but I watched (late season 4 spoilers)
part one of the mutiny
last night and it was incredible, so tense and scary (aided by the fact that I didn't read the ep description so had no idea what we were in for). Reminded me a lot of season 1 with the paranoia and not knowing what was coming next.

the mutiny arc is one of the best in the series and on TV in general

Im not Roslin's biggest fan but at the end of Blood on the Scales (ep 16)
where Zarek says Adama has been killed
she is awesome.

It helped to elevate season 4. Raised the stakes.

Damn straight. I don't know why the season gets so much hate though. The first half with
the final 5 and all the cylon stuff and finding earth
was great and the second half is pretty good too. I think people will just bitch about anything.

What happens is they hype themselves up, come up with all kinds of theories about what HAS to happen and in the end they get dissapointed.

Happens over on gaming side as well, all the time.

The first two to three seasons are incredible. Tears were shed.

Sadly they don't manage to deliver on the most interesting aspect. It's been too long since I've seen it, but what seemed to be the beating heart of the show (Gaius' free will vs. fate and religion struggle) was watered down significantly towards the end.

Back when the final episode aired someone here managed to describe quite eloquently what the problem was, sadly it evades me now.

Anyway, still well worth watching. It was great, even with the weak ending.

i'm almost through the series, only like 5-6 episodes left. been pretty great, and i don't get the hate for the last season.. some amazing episodes so far. unless at the very end it totallygoes to shit... i hope not.

also Lampkin should've been a bigger character. Dualla should have not.

Loved the series, from beginning till the very end!

I'd love to frak number 8 (number Six too btw)

I'm LTTP too. Just saw the season 3 finale and don't get the hate for the later seasons - the cliffhangers were massively exciting!

The mutiny
is the highlight of season 4.5.

Just finished it off last night, that was so so fucking good. That alone, even if the rest of the season is dogshit, is evidence against the whole "stop at season 2" school of thought.
fucking Felix man, who'd have thought? Zarek was obvious but Felix was what hurt. Amazing characterisation in this arc, the old man being a total hardcore badass, Roslin's speech telling the mutineers to go fuck themselves, Gaius realising how selfish he is... great stuff.

"I'm coming for all of you", I love the look on the cylon's faces when Roslin is making her speech

this thread has made me want to do another BSG run, its been about a year so its time.

Dude seriously, I had tears in my eyes and my heart was beating so fast at that point. Just, the rage coming off her was so impressive. I think McDonnell is the show's secret weapon, she adds a layer of vulnerability and humanity to what could otherwise be a very macho and cold environment.

Felt really sorry for Felix by the end of that episode even though he had turned into quite an unlikable character by that point (but if you watched The Face of the Enemy webisodes you can understand his hatred for the cylons a bit more) but at least he found peace in the end

Absolutely one of my favorite moments. I totally remember the previews for that episode too, omg. So insane.
