lttp: Dead rising (rising anger)

Ok, wow, I have not played a game that I enjoyed so much yet it pissed me off so ****ing much. This game almost reminds me of old NES games that really ticked me off yet I played the hell out of them.

1. Holy crap is saving people annoying as hell....But alas...after countless Retrys...and saving at strategic times...I managed to save....Everyone.....in ONE game (one playthrough). And it has been hell. HELL i tell you. "FRANK!!!! FRANK!!! IM ****ING STUPID! HELP ME!!!"

2. Cheap ass bosses....i mean ****ing CHEAP....especially the last boss (i mean the real last boss). That has to be the worst designed boss fight in gaming history.

3. I really think Capcom either made this game to piss americans off or to make fun of us. Not only are the survivors ****in retards...but whats with all the zombie bitches tryna suck my cock? "haha, make zombie girl go for penis...stupid american think its funny...make gameplay frustrating to piss american off...but american will keep playing cause killing zombie is fun to stupid gaijin" I don't know...maybe its just me.

3. Stupid bugs and Game freezes....I like how I am driving and then my car gets stuck and cant move because.....a Shopping cart or ZOmbie arm is to THE LEFT OF THE VEHICLE im driving in....yea....WTF? Hey....uh oh...yes! I am about to save 8 people....Let me just go in this door and....FREEZE! gg, im pwned.

5. Ridiculous Achievements: "By the way.....if you want something cool....you have to kill.....54,000 zombies" uh yea....wtf? doing that was just as bad as exp grinding in wow.

6. So yea....If there was ever a in game character that existed in RL just so I could personally torture him and eventually execute him after weeks of torture....Sayeed-Lost style....it would be Otis. This mother ****er is annoying as shit. "Hey, by the way, while you are out there dying, fighting zombies, and saving 8 people at a time which is like almost ****ing impossible....Could you get me some ****ing wine?" ARE YOU SERIOUS!?
"Hey this is otis, so I need to let you know about this person being trapped in..." "Hey you interupted me...that was Rude....where was I....LET ME START ALL OVER"
"Hey this is otis, if you dont answer ur walkie talkie im just gonna keep bugging you making you wish u want to mute the sound effects."
"hey im otis, and im an annoying old fart".

Thank god capcom put him in the infinity mode to kill....there are times i just turn the xbox on just to suplex him over and over or disembowel him over and over.

speaking of infinity mode....holy shit. NO SAVING?! Capcom R Assholes! having to play 10 hours str8 to unlock the lazer sword is crazy....Plus my health is dropping slowly and the items dont respawn...and no infinite Orange juice and Seon's is closed?

man....talk about frustrating.. After the initial 72 hour game of hair pulling and frustration....you would think they would at least let you have SOME fun in infinity mode...but no...Capcom wants to piss u off.

Theres gotta be a easier way to get the 5 day survivor achievement.....geez.

but with all these flaws....god I love this game....god I love capcom games.

This is the only game where im at the top of the leaderboards on my friends list....I guess that means I am "1337"?

I think it is just you... I just don't see it..

never had any freezes ever and I played about 80 hours worth of DR, maybe time to check up on your 360 :(

I still haven't put more than a few hours into this game, and I've had it since last November.

One of the more unbelievably broken Capcom games I've ever had the misfortune of getting my hands on, and I'm a pretty big Capcom fan.

Yeah...the first one is persecution and paranoia and the second one sounds like a bad omen

I thought the game was pretty fun personally. Ive been actually revisiting it the last few days and its certinaly got a nice charm to it. Pretty fun game.

It happens sometime.

i remember a bug where the survivors instead of following you, they attack the yellow psychopaths and won't listen to my calls no matter what.

The time limit is what makes Dead Rising so interesting.

It forces you to think on your feet.

Terribly annoying game. Pretty much everything that can be flawed is.

Of all the things you're right about, this isn't one of them. Infinity is supposed to be challenging, that's the whole point. Which is why it's incredibly stupid to call it "infinity mode" since that's exactly what it isn't, but whatever.

It isn't even that hard anyway. Find a list of when and where psychos and survivors spawn and it's a piece of cake. A 16 hour cake that has a huge 5-hour span where entering the food court will likely freeze your game, but still a cake.

I think they set out to create a western style game but just copied the surface details, i.e. the setting & the gore, but missed the user friendliness that western games have been striving for in recent years i.e. recharging health & such.

I enjoyed it despite all it's faults & played through twice but I don't think it's something I'll come back to again. Too many irritations like the respawning prisoners & survivors not following you through doorways.

yea...I just don't like to play my games in 16 hour chunks. :lol

I got a life....damn capcom and thier "challenge." I don't know about the "challenge" part. Hogging food, and just sitting around in a safe area such as the Gym and just waiting....Isn't really challenging...just a waste of time.

infinity mode is the most disappointing thing about the game, really, honestly made me sad

also, I do not believe it's possible to save everyone. I won't believe it. no.
What about those 6 girls you have to save at once? There's no way, the game set you up to fail that one.

Dead Rising is the most frustratingly awesome game ever.

Beating the ever living shit out of Otis for the first time in infinity mode was soo damn satisfying

Actually, infinity is the game mode where you can "have a life" more so than in any other game mode (in any other game, in fact), simply because half of the time is spent standing around. When I did it, I also got lots of housework and the like done. Good day.

Uh i did it in one playthrough. its hard as crap, and requires strategic saving and LOTS and LOTS of loading...but it is possible, because...I did it.

yea....some of us have jobs and are done with school...and on my days off..I really don't wanna spend 16 hours near my TV....I like to go out.
good day.

Yeah, and it never ever ever ever rains and you're never hung-over or just generally tired in your sunny and perfect "having a life" kind of life.

You seriously need to be less defensive.

I would have had this achievement if it wasn't for him. That was just f-n cruel to people who dont like to use faqs.

You mean the guy behind the boxes in the clothing store?

I'm very confused by your post. There is no achievement for rescuing everyone. You can lose 1-3 (I forget exactly which it is) and be fine.

Are you aware that you can give them waypoints?

Good job though, I doubt many people bothered to do that, because it's not much fun.

The only thing I didn't like in this game was the save system. Other than that I think it's one of the best game on the system and I can't wait for DR2. :D

You see what this is? It's an acknowledgement that I have testicles. I can only think of one reason why you are so upset it exists.

What made me stop playing the game was the first boss fight (pistol duel in the food court) when I kept headshotting him and all that happened was his health bar depleting a paltry amount every time I hit him. Ugh.

Also, and don't laugh at me, at my first playthrough i didn't know you can give the survivors weapons.

only the males i think. women are too inferior to use weapons and you have to carry them on your back or hold their hand because their brains are too small to run away from zombies

Or it's proof that you saw the YouTube video of how to get all of those kills with a car in the maintenance tunnels? That achievement is nothing. Come back with the 7 day survivor, please. :D

It depends on the character, not their gender.

:lol QFT

Its one of my favourite 360 games. Loved it every second even if it can make your patience bite the dust.

I´ll be playing it again next week, not only for the rest of achievements but because its still really fun. Beating zombies in every possible way and doing the stupid throughout the mall doesnt get old.

Hope we get a sequel announcement at Leipzig or TGS.

This is one game where my love will never die. All those negative things in the original post didn't phase me one bit. I figured the survivors behave the way they do cause they are scared, if they were brave they would be Frank and your would be controlling them and not him :).
I know the game has issues but like it was said at the end of the OP, the game is just awesome and I can't wait for the sequel.

Any time I hear someone say "Frank" in a real life situation I'm wisked away to the land of Dead Rising. I expect to turn around and see some survivor fighting off a zombie. :P

I never had a problem with any of the boss fights and never thought any of them were cheap at all. The final - FINAL boss fight reaked of awesomeness. Evil Dead for the win.

uh....how am I defensive? :lol

Just cause it rains doesn't mean I am gonna sit in the house all day. Yes, I am never hung over Cause when I drink, I don't drink to get shitfaced drunk.:lol I don't have a sunny and perfect life...that is just your assumption. However, I don't plan on sitting near the TV for 16 hours straight.

Having 16 hours to spend around the TV is just not a normal thing for me or something I can just do. is that so hard to grasp or accept? Maybe there are people that live a different life than you? See the difference between me and you....you are trying to justify it and tell me that I can do something because you can. Me on the otherhand, I am just explaining why I can't, yet you won't just accept it. why? :lol

There are different kinds of women, some cry and you have to hold their hand, others can strut around with shotguns and slap each other with zombified apendages.

fixed for the lulz
No sir, I already unlocked that achievement

Dead Rising stinks!

Here's hoping the sequel is more focused on staying alive, building barricades, gathering supplies, etc. than being a jackass in a mall with zombies.

I'm so glad Capcom will never see that comment.

The survivors are meant to be kind of stupid (or scared), there would be no point in rescuing them if it was a cake walk getting them from A to B.

What is unforgiveable is them getting stuck on stairs or doorways (or at the foot of the step upto the security room air duct) - That's just poor design or testing.

Not being able to save in Infinite Mode is also a very poor decision - I do not want to play a game for 14 hours straight, and I don't want to leave my console running for that length of time (or longer).

I hope these two things are rectified in the sequel - Other than those two things, I think Dead Rising is brilliant, second favorite 360 game next to Oblivion, and favorite exclusive.

He's right, though. Frank is the biggest videogame jackass ever.

Oh, hell yes. I can't believe that the air duct step -- the most-used step in the entire game -- ended up being the least tested one. Capcom didn't have time to go there with more than one survivor at a time and notice what happens? Come on.

BitchTits said:

Just because you can't pull it off doesn't make it a poor decision, though. With that line of thought, every game ever should have a final boss that dies in one hit. Somebody somewhere can't defeat a boss the proper way, and if not everybody everywhere can beat something with ease, it is apparently "poor design."

Clearly, that is not the case.

Dead Rising is quite possibly the finest seventh-gen game I have played. GoW may have the prettier graphics and slick presentation style, but Dead Rising's scope, size and ambition far outweigh Gears' polish. It has its flaws, sure, god knows during my first run through of the game I spent a lot of time swearing at survivors, cursing the aiming system, dreading another call from Otis or being afraid to step out into the park where those nasty convicts were waiting for me. The enjoyment I get out of the game though far outweigh its shortcomings.

For me Dead Rising is a game that was not meant to be played through once and cast aside like a soggy tissue. Your first game is just a taster, its like dipping your toe into the ocean before engaging on that deep sea dive. If you try and complete everything during your first run through then you are not approaching the game correctly. I've just completed it for the seventh time and I still found new survivors, new tricks, 3 more achievements, new juice mixes and more loving calls from Otis (gah!). I'm tempted to start an eighth game now, but I fear that I would only be doing so out of shameless achievement point whoring (Outdoorsman) When I have a day all to myself, and LN2 hooked up to my 360 (heh) I will sit down and seriously attempt 7 day survivor.

And for those of you moaning about the save system, live with it, that's how games were played 20 years ago. People have been so spoiled by memory cards and quick save that they've become lazy as gamers. Back then you completed a game in one sitting or you started again, if you didn't like it, go play cup and ball. If Inafune-san had his way then there wouldn't even be a save option in the game, his original vision was for players to have to dedicate six hours (well..maybe a little more) to completing the game. Granted I'm grateful for the one save spot, but a quick save/auto save or multiple save system in Dead Rising would have taken away so much from the game, they can change a few things for DR2, but I hope they don't back away from their saving system.

even the most panic stricken mentally challenged person on earth knows to run AWAY from the monster and with the person who's trying to save you

Otis is right up there with the fairy from Ocarina of Time as one of the most annoying support characters of all time. One of these days I'm going to finish the game just so I can go kill Otis in the free mode after you get the real ending.
