distantmantra said:I also want the good Orange Fanta that Japan and Europe have. American Orange Fanta is sickly-sweet.
Ichirou_Oogami said:I've never tried Japanese Orange Fanta. Is it really that different? You are intriguing me, good sir.
They should bring out melon soda in the states. That stuff is awesome.
distantmantra said:It's slightly tarter and less sweet. Run to the nearest vending machine and buy some now and drink one for me!
The large mega Asian grocery store in Seattle sells a few of the Japanese melon sodas. The Fanta Melon Creme soda was good, but it reminded me of ramune.
Also, while we were in Japan, we only found four kinds of Kit Kats: regular, swirl, green tea, and desert tea. I now love Lemon Fran, too bad we can only get chocolate almond over here.
Ichirou_Oogami said:Weird that you only found the four kinds - there's several more out there that I can think of - coffee, dark chocolate, grape, wine, strawberry, and patisserie (plus the seasonal ones that aren't being done right now - sakura, white chocolate and maple syrup, yogurt, to name a few). The swirl variety, that's being done to promote the Universal theme park in Osaka, is a total ripoff. Tastes just like a regular kitkat.
distantmantra said:We actually liked the swirl Kit Kat, tasted different to my wife and I.
We scoured every single Lawsons, Sunkus, 7-11, grocery store, etc. and never saw anything but those four kinds. We did get hooked on Nobel's cocori gummis which are covered in sour sugar... can't find them anywhere back home. We've got one bag of them left...
Also, I was shocked at Snickers bars costing 125 yen.
Ichirou_Oogami said:Weird about the Kit Kat things...I wonder if they're regional, then?
distantmantra said:Might be. We saw more variety in Tokyo than in Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima.
Ichirou_Oogami said:Whoa. Quite a trip. I haven't been to Hiroshima. Is it as depressing as I imagine it to be?
