Well I mean neither are the Starks and the reneged on their deal first.

That's true and what Robb did was incredibly dumb but I have a hard time believing that the Starks would murder all of their wedding guests no matter what was offered to them in exchange.
Ned tried to do the right thing but still lost his head. Which is why I don't think it would have mattered much for Robb either. They were gonna get fucked regardless.

Yes, this episode was really intense. I even was somewhat expecting something around this time, as I had heard people mention the 'red wedding'. But it still shocked me.

There was another moment later, when
the mountain crushed that guy's skull
, which also stuck in my head for days and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Why do you consider
the Hound's return
to be shit?

I've enjoyed all of his scenes, and the actor is really good.

The actor is great, but
it begins like a cheesy commercial and ends with him dispatching some randoms with horrible dialogue and a horribly contrived quest that ties into next season's plot.

I believe Robb Stark's follies are much better presented in the books, especially as he's only in his mid-teens.

He goes his whole life looking up to his father, however despite the great man Nedd was his alleged fathering of Jon Snow was always a slight used against him. A dagger in the side of an otherwise honourable man.

Robb is greatly grieved to hear of his younger brothers (Brann and Rickon's) deaths whilst recovering from an injury. In a moment of weakness he sleeps with Jeyne Westerling who comforts him. He marries her the next day to protect her honour.

Another layer is added to this when you consider the Westerlings are related to the Lannisters. The books have a wonderful depth to them.

Yes, also the book hammers in the fact that Rob is really young and inexperienced, which makes it a bit more understandable than the show (imo).

Rob kinda has a distorted image of his father, tho. Whilst everyone dogpiles on him for Talisa/Jeyne (which I always gladly partake in) the moment that cemented to me that he must die was the beheading of the Karstarks.

This is a magical universe. In a universe where kinslaying leads to tragedy, this is quite absolutely the dumbest move to make.

Robb kept saying how Ned would've done the same thing but I doubt Ned, for all his idiocy, would've gone that far. He at least would've made sure to quell the Karstarks anger after losing one of their own.

Robb isn't kin-slaying. There's several generations between Robb Stark and Richard Karstark.

Robert and Rhaegar were more related to each other than those two.

Besides the author says Rickard was only saying he was kinslaying to save his own ass.

And Ned is a man of duty. He would've absolutely cut that guy's head off as would Jon.

I honestly don't think this would have mattered in the long run.
The Freys are not loyal or honorable, just like the Boltons. If the Lannisters made them a good offer they would have betrayed the Starks despite Robb honoring his word.

Word of God is that the Freys were going to betray Robb once he started losing hence why Walder didn't make Robb marry a Frey first because he wanted to keep his options open to switch sides.

Walder feeling humiliated by Robb breaking his word for someone that was lesser than a Frey caused him to go towards the deep end of betrayal. And that's how we got the Red Wedding.

Yeah, Cat should've made Robb marry a girl right there, take her as a political hostage, and have a proper wedding after the war. With Robbs army inside of the twins, I'm not sure Walder could have said no. R'hllor would have killed him anyway, but at least R'hllor would have, hopefully, found a way that didn't make Rob look dumb.

Breaking news: Robb Stark trips down some stairs and breaks his neck. Suspicious Bolton spotted in the vicinity. North in disarray.

Still so salty about Talisa. The decision to have him break his marriage vow for ~twoo wuv instead of honour n shit not only makes him look like a selfish idiot but also completely destroys the parallels with Ned. But themes are for 8th grade book reports amirite.

I hate this show

It's certainly no Eclipse....

It's a shocking scene for sure, but if you wanna see/read something that's on the next level of shocking, check out Berserk and get up to the Eclipse. It makes the Red Wedding seem really tame in comparison.

Man, if HBO/Showtime ever did a Berserk adaptation, it would have to be neutered so much. Some of the content would just be TOO much, even for the premium channels.

Now watch the following episodes:

Season 4, spoiler

Season 5, spoiler

Season 6, spoiler

Season 6, spoiler

You're all caught up.
What the fuck is wrong with you?

OP, that episode killed me. Had me legit shook. I remember at the time, my little sister came in the room and my response was GTFO!! in yelling fashion. She went out thinking I was a crazy person. She caught up a year later and I explained that one time. It will remain one of the most memorable episodes I've ever seen. :'(

I loved Robb even though he fucked up. I do feel like he had the dumbest/worst small council in the entire show. Look what Joffrey and Danny had and then look at Robb, where his team was constantly fucking him over. I don't think even Tywin could have won that war if the roles were reversed.

Best family sends their regards

It's going to be fun when she gets fucking rekt by either Jaime or Tyrion.

I've seen both and GOT s3 e9 had me more shook. I just cared more about the characters than in Berserk. Though what happens there is pretty fucked up. :S

Sadly it was spoiled for me accidentally when watching the daily show when they were promoting season 4.

But I did get a kick reading GAF and watching YouTube reactions.

OP might lose his mind on season 5 episode 10

Saying the numbers of episodes is a spoiler? Umm...what?
