LTTP: Injustice Gods Among Us

I just took advantage of the PSN sale and bought this on PS4 for just $8 and change. What a steal! Seriously! It's such an incredible game!

The story mode has me hooked. It's just like the Mortal Kombat 9 story mode, only even better. In fact, the only reason I'm making this post is because my Vita's battery ran to nothing and my wife is watching a movie with her mom on the main tv where my PS4 is stationed. Otherwise, I'd be playing this shit right now and finding out what happens to Aquaman!

I'm still learning the controls here and there. Like I'm not sure how to initiate the wager clashes or pull of the equivalent of the x-Ray combos from mk9, but I'll learn. I like that classic fighting game stuff like down, down forward, forward + button still applies here. Anyone can jump right in and do some cool stuff.

Not to spoil anything for other newbies like me, but the story really is killer and a great incentive for people who aren't into fighters as much to go ahead and jump in here. So far it's almost as good as any comic book movie I've seen. Maybe the Xmen movies and Avengers could be better but this is in the running which says something. Granted I'm only an hour and a half in but so far very good.

Anyone else just getting in now? Nows the time if you have a Vita, PS3, or PS4. Go before the sale is over!

You know it's a good sale when you have two LTTP threads in a day. Definitely should try to get competitive in this game.

The ultimate fighting game for people who don't like fighting games. It's basically the TF2 of the genre.

I'm terrible at fighting games, so I'm still on the fence with Injustice, despite the awesome deal.

This is somewhat assuring.

Yeah, the game is is great for people who aren't really into fighting games. I had pre-ordered it for the ps3 and played the shit out of it for a while. It's very fun. I'm probably going to go back and play it again. Lol.

yeah i noticed that MK has a large casual/non-dedicated fg player appeal too. is it because of the expanded single player stuff? never played an nrs game.

Single player stuff + not execution heavy games like SF/KoF is my guess. NRS fighting games are very easy to get into and feel competent. MK9 is pretty much the only fighting game that I can legit say I'm good at, but I didn't get into Injustice because the characters are all unappealing and there's too much gimmickry in the mechanics like wager and environmental stuff.

Before there was expanded SP stuff, I think the aesthetics and flash of MK is also what made it very appealing. There wasn't really anything like it and there still isn't.

Played it on my cousins 360, pretty good game overall just bought the collectors for $40 on amazon, but I'll wait til I finish the games I have on backlog first before I unbox it lol.

For all of you saying that Injustice is friendly for those who don't fancy fighters, I'm warning you NOT to play it online lol. I play ranked matches daily on the PS4 (because it's the only fighter available atm), yet I still often get wrecked by the competition. If you're on the fence about picking it up I can attest that there's more than enough single player content to make up for the broken multiplayer.

The thing I didn't like about Injustice is how it handles combo inputs. I probably will fail miserably at attempting to explain this, but here I go.

In games like Street Fighter, you basically input the combo as you go along. There's a short buffer but you mostly enter the inputs in real time, if that makes sense. Your inputs are entered alongside the moves, as they come. Injustice seems like it has a gigantic buffer, yet you have no choice but to use it... When I was learning the game, I would input a 10 hit combo; but you have to finish the combo inputs like less than halfway through the combo playing out on screen or it doesn't work. If I try to enter inputs as the combo went along, like in SF, the combo would drop or my character would just stop doing things. I could not become used to dialing in my combo well before my character got did what I was inputting. It felt very off.

You could probably get used to it by dial-a-combo-ing your hit confirms, and then only continuing once you successfully landed something. But that having to enter your entire combo's input only a third of the way into the combo really threw me off. I'm not sure if I could get used to it.

That said, I might pick it up again for $8 on PS4 and do the single player stuff. The story mode was cool.

Maybe I just really sucked at Injustice (I did), but really I felt like I was missing something. I don't know if I described that well, but I really didn't like that combo input system.

I know exactly what you mean. It's one of the things that make Injustice feel janky along with borked hit boxes that lead to terrible cross ups. It's one of the few fighting games that I play where I feel like I lose due to the game mechanics as opposed to fair competition.

BTW: Deathstroke is the cheapest fighting game character ever created. I just had to add that.

NRS games don't have real hit confirms usually. All the combos are pretty much "target combos" from Street Fighter, which is basically what you're saying. I wish NRS would keep their trademark style but at the same time implement hit confirms, option selects, etc to make their games less scrubby.

Let me top that statement: I got the Wii U version so I could have the special noves displayed on the gamepad. I'm that far of a noob.

Damn them for never putting MM and Zatana on eshop.

I'm posting this in here as I don't have thread making permission.

I have a bit of a dilemma and was hoping for GAF's help. Basically, watching some of EVO (the first EVO I've ever taken notice of) has made me fiend for a fighting game and as a Wii U only gamer I have 2 choices: Tekken Tag 2 or Injustice.

Which to choose?

I don't have anyone local to play games with so I'm looking for some single player fun and, maybe more importantly, a good online scene with an acceptable net code and lots of players.

The last fighter I played much of was probably Soul Calibur on my mate's Dreamcast many years ago so it's been a while! I also loved the Mortal Kombat series back in the day and had some good fun with a friend's Tekken on the PS2 I think it was.

I started out thinking I wanted Tekken and didn't even really know Injustice existed. I then watched the EVO finals of Injustice and now think maybe I want that instead.

I just can't choose. Help!

TTT2 is better in every single way bro. It's the best new fighting game of last gen without a doubt. I haven't played the Wii U version but on PS3 it had the best netcode of all the fighting games I've played except maybe BlazBlue.

They're pretty much on the opposite side of the scale though, Tekken is maybe the hardest fighting game I've tried to learn whereas Injustice is braindead easy. If you're not a fighting game player and like comics then Injustice is probably the better bet, regardless of how inferior it is.

you convinced me OP. just picked it up. haven't played a mortal kombat-esque game since MK3. so is there a detailed story mode for all the characters?

I got it and I am not really that into fighting games, but the iOS version was good. I linked my WD account and it said I unlocked a few things. Fun game, I also got the Marvel PS4 game and Blackgate Vita which is much better than I thought it be.

I ordered this a few days ago for the Wii U. Amazon has it for $14.99 and I felt that was a good price. Reading these threads recently about it make me excited to get my hands on it.

definitely get it for the great single player campaign! it even has a good introductionary tutorial for the basics of all gameplay mechanics and combos.

detailed storymode where you play a bunch of different characters depending on the situation.

Injustice is a better single player fighter. So it really comes down to the "maybe" part of your sentence. Do you want single player or mp more

yup, tekken might have more players on the wiiu, but definitely go injustice if you want a singleplayer storymode.

Well that depends. I have fantasies of hitting the training room and then venturing online and building my skills until I'm a somewhat competent player. I might even read up on the frame data and watch youtube guides and try to finally be something more than a button masher.

I'm worried that this wont happen though and I'll just get frustrated that I'm getting my behind handed to me again and again.

So, my intentions are to get good at the multiplayer aspect of the game, but my skill might prevent that.

Thanks man. I'm not into comics really so that's not an issue. I had a feeling that Tekken was the more polished game with a far deeper system to learn but the fact that Injustice was at EVO made me think that perhaps it's a good fighter too.

I just downloaded this because its the freebie for this month on the PS4 and wtf is up with Dual Shock controls for this...so awful lol,I cant even pull off half the stuff in the tutorial...terribad...I am still in shock lol...guess I will play on easy to see all the characters and delete this thing right after...so disappointed.

Oh god what a terrible game.

The animation looks like it was made by hand, so stiff and awkward.

Tekken made me a snob when it comes to fluid animation.

I had no trouble in the tutorials and I haven't played a fighting game in earnest since Street Fighter II. I use the d-pad.

But this game looks bad, is it a direct port of the PS3 version?

Yeah, it's just a resolution increase.

It also has massive slow down during cutscenes.

I don't like the game. I'm trying to play through the story because I really like the comic series, but there seems to be either a delay on the input or a weird timing that I just cannot get right with the game.

BGM and OST of this game are real bad. I think this is the first game that I cannot play because I do not like its BGM.

With all the people shitting on the game in here I just thought I'd chime in that as a person who has not generally liked fighting games over the past few years, I've really had a blast with Injustice. I used to be into comics as a kid so that might really play into my enjoyment, but mostly its just fun. Fighting game snobs may not dig it, but I think many casuals will really like it.

I was hyped when I found it was going to be a ps plus dl however after playing for a while I couldn't get into it. I came in expecting mk9 reskinned with superheros and it wasn't.
combat was surprisingly different from mk and I just wanted something to have dumb fun with. I have a new respect for high level IJ players now.

saw the other complaints above and I have to agree that timing of combos and strings is extremely weird.

Exactly...one part in the tutorial, you have to block Superman like 5 times...either he punches up or at your feet...that delay to block when he goes to my feet I just cant seem to get the timing right,so when he mixes it up with like 2 up,1 down, I fail, can never get 5 blocks in a row...maybe I will practice with the D-Pad though.

If you're using the analogs try alternate controls. Also make sure to take off release check.

Edit: As for string timing and stuff it's really just practice.

Funny since so many detractors say it's just "MK9 DLC", though I'm sure many have never played the game and just dislike it for it being "NRS".

I hate the way the game plays. I was expecting MK9 with Batman and got a mediocre fighting game with some of the stiffest controls I've seen.

Fucking love this game. I put over 50 hours into it... which isn't a lot to some of you, I'm sure, but it's a lot for me. I usually get bored of games pretty fast.

It sure feels like it to me.
The controls of Injustice are the same as MK9, difference being you can turn off that shitty negative edge that auto cancels moves out of chains and give the game 8 way inputs for moves.

Jumps are just as floaty and normals are just as heavy. Game runs on the same engine after all.

it feels a lot smoother because it has a real aerial game unlike MK9, everyone's got unique air normals.

Injustice Scorpion is the smoothest feeling MK character ever made~

loved this game, luthor is a lot of fun to play...not sure if I'll ever pick it up on PS4 though.

I guess I should say that I haven't played MK9 it in about a year so maybe I'm romanticizing it a little in my mind. I'm sure I'll eventually get a hold of things again if it really is the same engine.

Injustice has less ground mobility than MK9 thanks to the lack of dash cancelling and poor walk speeds but it's no more "stiff" than MK9.

Yeah, that's what I meant when I called the game stiff. It's not the attacks themselves that bother me, it's the movement.

I bought it to have a fighting game on the PS4 at launch, and because I love comic books, but I really don't like NRS' stiff, janky gameplay or the hideous art direction, and I think the roster picks on the whole are pretty weak. At least the story was a fun time.
