LTTP: Kingdom hearts series

yep. What I lvoed about 2's story was that it intentionally left you confused in the beginning but over time things start to make sense. it gives you the pieces to the puzzle but doesn't tell you how to put them together right away. Playing Days before 2 essentially gives you the completed picture but you miss out on the fun of having had put it together.

yep, in the final world when
Young Xehanort
is explaing things to Riku, that was the moment when I had to accept that the story made no damn sense. but I still fucking loved how ridiculous it got and the ending made me so hyped for 3.

Yeah you really just have to embrace it and go along for the ride.
When they said the organizations true goal was to make 13 Xehanorts I knew they lost their minds. We've already had four different versions though so might as well bring on nine more. The 89 in my username doesn't just represent my birth year it represents the fact there will probably be that many versions of him by the time this series is through. After seeing the old master xehanort last night I was excited for where he'll go in 3 but now I'm sad because leonard nemoy passed.

Glad you liked the games, OP. Personally, I didn't like DDD as much as you did, but that's mainly because it came after BBS, my favourite game in the series.

It's also great that you started playing with the Final Mix versions. KH2, especially, benefited immensely from its updated version.

Also, any excuse to post this 😃 (by the way, this only applies to the game, not so much the HD movie):

^I found Days to be a mediocre game almost all the way through, but GODDAMN were those final battles and moments good. Talk about getting rewarded for putting up with everything else :P

I also posted my opinion on the Days -> KH2 play order in the Community Thread a while ago:

I finally got to play 2.5 (finished KH2FM's prologue a couple of hours ago), but I made a point to re-watch 358/2 Days before, and I'm now a firm believer of the Days -> KH2FM play order.

They really made Days in a way that fits perfectly with KH2, and the new scenes added to Final Mix make it even more evident. Everything from Naminé's explanations, to the battle with Axel ("Two Keyblades?"), it all comes together in a way that makes the prologue to KH2 seem like it really is, instead, the epilogue to Days. Instead of playing 4 hours in the dark trying to figure out what's going on, you watch as Days' plotline walks toward its tragic conclusion.

I don't even think that Days spoiling Riku-Ansem even matters anymore, since the new Final Mix scene added after Sora leaves Twilight Town pretty much gives that away.

In the end, I now believe that playing KH2 first takes away much more from the Days experience (since you already know how it's going to end) than Days could ever take from KH2. Especially with KH2FM.

Before you quote me on this opinion, please notice that this play order works much better with KH2FM than with the original KH2.

No.... anything involving Roxas doesnt make sense...every interaction with an Org member involves their relationship with Roxas..... Axel's emotions toward Sora dont make sense, but with 358 some scenes that were confusing hit now like a brick...the entire opening being a repeat of Days and the conclusion of Days leading into KH2. Then the fact that most of
Riku's
plot in 2 also makes no sense without 358, and that Final Mix has scenes from 358.
Thisssss! Without playing 358/2 before KH2, I was like, "who is this red haired jackass, and why is he all up in my shit?"

With 358/2 in mind, the intro to KH2 is so much more powerful, imo. Besides, there's way too many unfinished threads in KH2 to keep track of, without 358/2. It's cute, when a story uses that mechanic sparringly, but when it happens all the time, it's just annoying (i.e. Beyond Two Souls)

The deal is, if you play Days before, you will spoil a lot (like, an awful lot) of the enjoyment of 2 (specially the Org's plot and whatnot).

If you play 2 before, you will spoil a lot in Days. But Days is a small game that barely has a story until towards the end of the game, where 2 is a 60-hour long story, to have that ruined because of Days' spoilers is much worse.

You might miss some details on 2, but hardly anything important.

I don't completely disagree with you, but I vehemently disagree that Days ruins a "60-hour long story" (KH2). The things that Days "spoils" for KH2 are in no way as bad as what KH2 "spoils" for Days. Of course everything now depends on how much you want to get out of your Days experience.

I think both alternatives are viable, and there really isn't a way to reach a consensus. Due to their nature, KH2 and Days are destined to spoil each other.

By the way, and for the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with KH2's opening being vague. Whether you played Days first or not will transform KH2's opening into two very different experiences, that I think are both perfectly valid.

Before the HD remasters came out, I had played the entire series in release order. And I had no problems with it, obviously. However, those were the vanilla versions.

With KH2FM including so many scenes from Days, playing (or watching) Days after will be like finally sitting down to see a movie that played on TV before and you were just catching glimpses of.

I also think Days provides some important context to some of KH2's plot lines. When I first played KH2 (when Days wasn't a thing), I always thought Axel and Roxas's relationship felt very superficial. All you were told was that they used to be friends. This time around, after doing the Remaster order, I was bawling like a baby at the scene they added
after Axel fades away.

"But....who will i eat ice cream with?"

*laughs and cries at the same time*

Yeah I hear a lot of people praise the ending of Days but I didn't see what was so great about it from the film. Mind letting me in on it in a spoiler?

I don't get this, if you played COM you should know who that red haired jackass is. it seems like a lot of people are misrepresenting COM's importance for Days.
