I just got the travel channel and I'm loving this show. I actually like the fact that he doesn't win all the challenges. He's not some fat slob who can sit there and destroy everything. And some of the challenges are just flat out insane. Especially the 4lbs of pancakes one. Gross and nearly impossible.

Love this show. Adam is a very likable host. I wouldn't try a single one of the challenges that he does, but kudos for him for not giving up so easily.

He also highlights awesome places to eat in every show he does. That's a big plus.

I called in sick to work one day last month. I chilled, played some MW2 and did random chores around the house...

Then I sat down to watch some TV. I ended up watching like 4 or 5 straight episodes of MvF.

I already liked the show and watched whenever I came across it, but after watching so many episodes, I think I now love it.

He actually lost a few of the challenges that day which was surprising, since he usually pulls through.

Also, the food leading up to the challeneges is always more appealing to me than the actual food in the challenges. :lol

I wish they would add one more visit instead of just three including the challenge. Adam is a very likable host but the ancient format of talking with customers is so lame. It's always the same thing; "It's sooooooooooooo good," "this place is the best," etc. I hate how food shows do this. But like I said he's a likable guy and he goes to interesting places. Maybe if a co-host took in a location.

The real star is always the chef talking about where the inspiration came from. It's basically Diners, Drive in's or Dive but with a likable host.

Also, spicy challenges are lame.

Very true. This show and Diners Drive-Ins and Dives are prolly my two favorite shows. I love seeing all types of normal food from all over the country. Adam and Guy should have a show together. Mind blown.

Incredibly, the challenge tonight takes place in my hometown. (I don't live there anymore, though I visit often.) Which was also featured in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. It's a small town on Long Island, I have no idea why it's become an embarrassing-food-show destination in the last couple of years. Wish I knew he was there, though!

Yup. I mean, based on every customer ever interviewed, every restaurant is the vest restaurant ever.

I love me some spicy food but some of those challenges are not appetizing. It makes me think that the food was not that good to begin with so they needed a gimmick.

He's on a losing streak so the show hasn't been compelling. Plus he likes everything he eats so dunno why I should trust his tastes..
Well that's like Guy Fieti on Triple D. He never dislikes a place but you can tell when he really likes something. He'll say something like "dude, one of the top 5 burgers I've ever had." lol.

The NYC episode was pretty cool, watching the cook in that Indian place put on the gas mask before making the curry. It's a fun show, I like it.

Great show. The milkshake challenge seemed brutal and I have no idea why anyone would try it.

The other show that is on after it No Reservations is good as well.

Yep, I really love that show. I like that the show isn't run by a guy that does professional competitive eating. Adam really seems like a nice down to earth guy and the food always looks delicious. I really want to go to all of the places he's gone and try it out for myself.

I love the show so much. I actually tried the sundae challenge in SF that he did. I am a big guy put I couldnt do it. I really have no idea how he does some of the things that he does.

Man V. Food is an awesome show and Adam seems so down to earth. Recently I've noticed watching a lot of Travel Channel while watching television. Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, the Bizarre shows with Andrew Zimmerman, and Man V. Food are all top notch in my opinion.

I was going to post a picture of starving African children, but it was too depressing.

It's a decent show though

Travel Channel is one of my favorite channels. They do food show better than FoodNetwork, all three of the their food shows are great.

He sucks and I can easily eat all the stuff he eats (except maybe ice cream challenges, I really don't like ice cream).

I want to see you eating some ghost chilli wings.

We religiously watch this show in our house. When we went to Honolulu in may we stopped by Helena's (a place they showcased) and grubbed. Totally good recomendation that got us street cred with the valet guys at our hotel. :lol Their pipikaula short ribs were the bomb. I really wished they served that in L.A.

Seconded, or the 4 Horsemen burger, but mostly the Fire in the Hole Wings. That shit demolished him.

Did the fire in your hole challenge, did not finish the second wing.
Just wrong.
Place makes great food for being a small little dive though.
Actually went because we saw it on the show, it is an hour drive :lol
Now we make it once every few weeks for the sandwiches.

I am sure that this thread will be full of internet bad asses who can do everything and anything with room for more but reality is a different monster.

Andrew Zimmerman did an interview with Nightline and he revealed his drug past. Between him and Bourdain they saw a lot of crazy shit in 80's NY crackville.

http://eater.com/archives/2010/07/27/andrew-zimmern-discusses-druggie-past-on-nightline-tonight.php
Berman: So, weÂ’re not talking about like dabbling in drugs?

Zimmern: Oh, no no no we’re talking about – let me see if I can paint the picture for you: I lived in an abandoned building in lower Manhattan; one that we squatted – a bottle gang and I. I would steal purses off the backs of chairs in those swanky little cafes on Madison Avenue, run down the side street, leap the wall at Central Park and 5th Avenue, get on the subway, go down to the lower east side and sell the credit cards and passports that were in the purses for money to support my drug and alcohol habit. And then go to sleep at night on a pile of dirty clothes in this abandoned building and I sprinkled a bottle of Comet Cleanser around so the rats and roaches wouldn't cross over at night so I could pass out in some peace and quiet and that's what I thought was normal. That's how I lived for a year – no showering, I was the guy you crossed the street to avoid if you walked by me in New York.

Berman: ItÂ’s amazing. I mean, looking at you now, you look like my Uncle Murray. But it was that bad?

Zimmern: It was worse than that. I’d rather not scare you too much but you’re living the life where you are constantly beat up, abused, abusing other people, doing something horrifically shameful and tawdry things that crater your soul – you give away pieces of yourself that you swear you would never do. You know, I swore I would never talk to you like this and then reach into your jacket and take your wallet and those are the things that you do when you are being driven by the insanity and the compulsion of alcohol and drug addiction.

Adam is a cool guy to and I've got to wonder about his drug history. All those dudes are from the bad old days of cooking.

these celeb food personalities used to have the lives of washed-up rock stars. :lol

A lot of chefs are like musicians in that they live for the passion of making great food/music. Whenever you have such a passion you tend to do anything to live for that passion.

Including living off the land for years while you pursue creative food heaven.

I was going to say something regarding the starving children of Africa, but I don't want to get banned.

I like the show, it's fun in an absurd way.

Whenever I watch it with my wife I always tell her when I think I can handle a challenge he does, and she just rolls her eyes. I'm still pretty sure I could take the 5 pound burrito he ate that one time. Then again, I'm basically incapacitated after 2 slices of pizza these days.

Oh, and for laughs i'd love to see what HealthGAF thinks of this show.

I was a bit disappointed when he left that 12 egg ommellette challenge with 1 bite left! But I guess at that point he was feeling like absolute shit and that bite may have pushed him over the top.

Love this show. I know there's no way I could finish most of these challenges (especially the ridiculous ones like the aforementioned ice cream and milkshake challenges), but I'd love to try one of the spicy challenges.

The ghost chili burger one is here in town, but I think they won't let you drink anything for 5 minutes after you finish. If so fuck that.:lol

I actually tried eating an order of ghost chili wings at a local joint around here famous for their wings. Went boneless and ordered the sauce on the side so that way I could at least have some control over the heat. Had to sign a waver and everything.

Tasted like PAIN. Just imagining how he must have felt for those few minutes afterward is painful. And he had the sauce smeared all over his face too. :lol

I have done the Orochon Spicy #2 Ramen. And won. But, my intestinal system said it was a push the next day.

I like Adam Richman, its amazing what you can do with a Yale degree.

I like Bourdain, even though his schtick is kinda old, he is very enthusiastic and real about the food.

I like Zimmern, and mind blown when he admitted he was a homeless drug addict.

Guy Fieri is the doucheiest guy on TV.

He came to Jersey for these lunch truck sandwiches we call Grease Trucks on the Rutgers University campus.

The sandwich is a hoagie with multiple ingredients. For example, the sandwich Fat Llama has Cheesesteak, egg, mozz sticks, french fries, lettuce, ketchup, mayo, hot sauce.

Fat+Cat.jpg

(This is the Fat Darrell - Chicken Fingers, Mozz Sticks, French Fries, Marinara, Lettuce - For beginners)

The challenge is 5 sandwiches and you get to name a new sandwich. Adam couldn't finish the 5th sandwich in time.

I've been going to those trucks for years and I just about get one down. I could maybe do one and a half tops. 5 is insane.

Didn't know Richman was a Yale grad. Shocking, and cool. I bet he has the best job out of his graduating class.

Bourdain is awesome, read a few of his books and watch his show regularly. I have a friend that just got into him and basically worships him though, so I find him hard to stomach lately. Also, his New York worship gets old fast.

Zimmern is great, and ballsy as hell with some of the stuff he eats.

I don't mind Guy Fieri at all, but it's very easy to tell when he's not into something on Triple D. The food he makes on Guy's Big Bite is actually pretty tasty looking.

If you guys like these shows, you may enjoy Three Sheets on Travel Channel. A show in a similar vein as the others, but all about booze. I could see Zane (the host) getting on a lot of people's nerves though.

I'm only a mild-medium wing person so I just can't imagine eating any of those spicy foods. Even getting up to mild wings took years. I couldn't eat anything spicy when I was a kid.

I've been to two of the Atlanta places (which were both awesome). I need to go to Juan in a Million in Austin too. I tried last year but we weren't there that long and couldn't make it over there between all the other places we wanted to try that were closer to where we were staying.

Wow, that definitely explains why I've seen him refuse alcohol, probably went through AA or something back in the day. Crazy respect to him for coming out of a past like that and being a chef now with a TV show.

Probably a bigger fan of Anthony Bourdain though, I like his attitude and how he looks at food.. How street food, the cheap stuff at hole in the wall places can be more enjoyable than a 5 star restaurant. Has definitely gotten me to branch out and try more of those places.

Man vs Food is great though. I've tried 2 of the 3 places he had when he came here (Columbus, OH). Schmidt's Sausage Haus and the Thurman Cafe. Schmidt's is great, they have a Polka band come in there on Saturday nights and play. Fantastic sausage and everything else is top notch. They have 5-10 different kinds of cream puffs, and we're not talking small cream puffs. Cream puffs as big as your hand that they drizzle chocolate syrup on and homemade whipped cream. And Thurmans.. wow, that place changed my life as far as hamburgers goes. All their hamburgers (15-20) are 3/4 pound, minimum. The regular Thurman burger is a 3/4 pound patty with sliced ham on it, grilled onions, mushrooms, 3 kinds of cheese, and a big thing of fries on the side. The flavor in that burger was ridiculous. And we got jalapeno bottle caps before hand, which are just sliced jalapenos that are breaded and fried. Then you dip then in ranch. Surprisingly good.

Obviously they have the Thurminator there as well, which I believe is about 5 pounds of meet, a head of lettuce, a whole onion, etc.. I don't know anyone that would actually try to eat that, but it's on the menu. Costs $16 IIRC, which I remember thinking was a good deal. :lol
