I am loving this movie and I am kinda upset a sequel seems unlikely. It's an unapologetic deconstruction of the superhero genre and it seems like the most Zac Snyder movie Zac Snyder never directed. It seems to be one of those movies that were released too early.

Megamind is a great movie, and it's unfortunate that it had to come out just after Despicable Me since the comparisons between the two painted a less than stellar image for MM. I wish they would have tried to do a Megamind show when they had the Monsters vs Aliens show going.

Metrocity

The cgi hasnt aged well imo or at least the character models but i will give it another watch soon as i recall wnjoying it

I wanted to create a thread on this movie, specifically their use of Obama-esque imagery and whether we would see similar references to #MAGA/Trump in future movies like this.

It's a good movie story-wise, but I was never a huuuuge fan of the character models.

It's a really great movie, it's ashame it came out when it did instead of now. Animation was good then, but it's much more amazing now with both artistic detail and production.

I loved Megamind, but the problem with the film was it appealled way more to adults then Despicable me did with the children characters and those annoying minions.

Is there a flowchart to explain this movie in case it's too subtle?

Love this first post.

Seriously Zak Snyder did not invent superhero deconstruction.

Anyway I haven't actually seen the film but after doing a quick google search I'll probably give it a watch.

Megamind's only sin was the marketing where the trailer just laid out a huge spoiler that went a long way toward undermining the setup of the movie since you already know what really happened.

Fantastic super hero movie, but don't watch the trailer if you haven't already seen it.

I didn't like Megamind much when it came out. I rewatched it recently and liked it much more. The story was super interesting, but I feel like it could have been polished more as I was never a fan of the style.

The characters look so fugly in this it has always prevented me from watching it.

Oh please, you shit on Dreamworks movies habitually on this board going back years for no good reason. I still remember your inane posts for the How to Train Your Dragon thread.

So, anyone who has seen it want to debate on these superhero deconstruction aspects? Especially compared to The Incredibles?

Well I don't wanna spoil too much cos there are a fair few twists but it's basically a supervillain origin story that makes fun of Superman and all associated tropes like crazy.

yeah, watched in the plane because i had nothing much better to chose from and I was suprised how much i enjoyed it.

Megamind is brilliant and I wish it had been more successful. It's a giant love letter to comics and golden age superheroes. It may not be Incredibles-tier, but it's one of my favorite films from Dreamworks and the world it created is full of possibilities.

If I recall Nostalgia Critics review of this movie boiled down to "We've seen this all before." and I was baffled. Under rated film.

This movie is surprisingly fun. There's only one thing holding it back...

The characters look so fugly in this it has always prevented me from watching it.

Exactly. The characters in this movie are ugly as fuck, especially the main one. I don't understand his S&M getup.

He's kinda right about this one tho.

Not understanding the character model complaints when almost every CG animated movie I watch has humans of all kinds of abnormal or impossible shapes and sizes.

Does more really need to be said?

Movie was boring, it wasn't terrible just very average. It's also pretty ugly to look at, the people in it just looked off.
