LTTP: Persona 3...I said wow.

2 things. One, I feel that P3 was balanced for having ai controlled party members so P3P feels kind of too easy at times. Second, the ai controlled party members sort of gave P3 its identity to me, so without it, P3 just sort of feels like a prototype of P4 to me...
Well you have those higher difficulties to play on and a version of tactics to use, even though some commands are missing like knockdown. I dont really care that its easier, cause persona 3 wasnt that hard to begin with. all I know is if Mitsuru mind charges and then marin karins, Itll be my fault this time.

Playing P3P, 47 Hrs , Just beat the first midboss on Yabbasah (sp?), Persona Level 37, Floor 70 something and just did finals and about to go on that vacation. Am I nearing the end of the game?

In my opinion, P3P on maniac is easier than P3 on hard. I like how dumb the ai can be lol, it gives the party members some battle personality.

Most of the music is taken directly from P3 and P4, and the new stuff is not "extremely fucking different". The tone of the main story, Labrys' story, is almost exactly the same as Aigis' story in P3. You guys can invent all the differences you want in your head, but it doesn't make them real.

And yes, zealots are best ignored.

I find the best way to ignore someone is to ignore them. Not to say you're going to ignore them and then carry on (Wrongly) arguing with them.

When I said the music was different, I was referring to the OST, not the re-used stuff, you silly sausage.

People still treating Dantis like his opinion is wrong because he has different opinions and sticks to them? I thought I was on gamefaqs for a minute there...

One thing I'm worried about is being able to get my Charm, Academics, and Courage up in time. I know Charm and Courage are way faster to level up(around 80 points iirc) while Academics is around 240. I figure every night I should be studying before sleep(unless sick) for Academics and using the arcade at night for Charm and Courage when I don't go to Tartarus. So much to balance in these games, it's stressful but super fun.

Assuming you want to date
Mitsuru
, you have until
late November
to get your academics to Genius, which is actually plenty of time.

One tip for leveling up academics is during the week before exams, if you don't have any social links you can work on, you can go to that restaurant above the book store and buy the Prodigy Soup, and you'll get three points instead of the two you would get from studying in the library.

Also, you know the quiz game at the arcade levels up academics, right? You mentioned leveling up charm and courage there, but not academics, so I wasn't sure. And unless my memory is way off, you can also study after the quiz game.

I think it works best if you play it as the female MC after already playing P3 FES. The story stuff just doesn't come across as well, especially the ending.

Yup. Totally agree. P3P was my first P3 experience, as I didn't have the patience to play the tactics after having direct control over my party in P4. But I did watch a number of the cutscenes on YouTube after seeing P3P's equivalent, and that's pretty much essential, I think. Especially the ending.

Not ideal, I know, but every time I tried to play the PS2 version I was immediately off put by not being able to control my party.

Thanks for these tips btw. Can I get the lovers arcana with Yuko? I already have her up to 6 on Strength but no lovers for anybody yet.

Yeah when I first started playing and didn't know about changing their tactics and they were auto attacking and making HORRIBLE decisions I was about to quit the game. Then I ran across tactics and set them to my control and haven't looked back.

Each Social Links has its own arcana, none are multiple. Yukari is the Lovers link and you need to max Charm before you start the SL.....so she can tell you how much she hates fun.

<3 Yukari

Ah okay. So i need to max my Charm. I think im at lvl 2 for charm.

Charm is really easy to level up. If I remember right you can even go to the Cafe at night to increase your charm.

The arcade gives you the most points iirc. There are nights where none of the Charm, Academics, or Courage games are playable though so Cafe would be perfect for that.

also, holy shit, it's hao chi the rare Coyotes fan!

Loved this game, despite not being a fan of the combat , and not getting all that hooked to the main overarching narrative (though it certainly has it moments). What really sells the game to me are the characters. I feel P3 has some real top notch character development thanks to the social link system. I really enjoyed how it was all tied in to the in-game calendar system, and it was kinda neat how the game is structured around going to school, and choosing what you want to do, who you want to hang out with on each day.

Reminds me I still haven't played P4 yet; :( Hope it comes to PSN eventually, or maybe I'll break down and get a Vita one of these days to play P4G.

For some reason I have been playing this game wrong by refusing to fuse Orpheus with anything and just trying to stick it out with my 1st persona.. Only on the 2nd block about 11hrs in..

Any tips? Besides of course fusing and ignoring my previous methods.

Don't waste more time than you need to in Tartarus, three or four long session each month should provide you with all the EXP you need, while the remaining nights should be spent at the arcade raising your character's stats. And don't forget to have a persona of the same arcane as the person you spend the afternoon with!

Make sure to focus on one stat at a time! Charm and Courage first as they're way quicker to level and are required to start two social links.

Finished the Fuuka event yesterday, about 14 hours in. Charm is two levels from being rank 6 and then it's on to Courage. Academics is up to 3 as well from studying almost every night. Stupid Tartarus, I've lost like 4 hours of progress in there so far.

59th floor boss is an asshole.

Equip a Persona that's strong against wind, get killed by Hama every time.

Equip a Persona that nul's Light, get destroyed by Garudyne.

Try to fuse a persona that covers both, not possible.

Guess I'll just grind for a while.

I beat him today. I had Mitsuru use Bufula, Junpei used some gems, and Akihiko and I used Zio. No idea what the boss was weak against and I didn't feel like exhausting my options. I'm level 23, what are you?

And what is he weak against? I scanned him and nothing came up.

I'm 21 right now.

He's not weak to anything. Lots of HP too. Putting Yukari in the fight is much less harrowing than having Junpei in there. Junpei get dominated by wind.

Oh Lvl 59? That boss? I was like 27 or 30 when I got there *shrugs*
Im up to floor 85 now.

For the record I had, Mitsuru, Akihiko and Yukari.
I had no problems, i dont even think it did too much damage to me.
grinding is your friend =D

Beat the two shadows of the July full moon. Were pretty easy. I'm playing P3P on normal. Kinda wondering if I should've went harder now.

Just finished the beach event, started the Yukari social link. 25 hours, gettin into it!

I just want Koromaru already. Dawg Squad.

Auguest 6th full moon easily handled last night, I remember that fight being harder for some reason. You have to make sure you kill both of them at once. Easy stuff though, was done in 5 minutes.

Level 30 now, Koromaru joined, courage+charm are maxed, academics are level 4.

Academics is the personal stat that takes longest to improve. I don't think I maxed it out until the later part of the game.
Just need to have it maxed by November for the Mitsuru link.

For finals I was studying so much trying to rank up buy didn't get to rank 4 in time. Then, literally, the next time I studied after finals it went up to four.

Floor 110 boss is so fucking stupid. Constant charm all around, guess I'm going to have to grind leveling Narcissus to 24 to get his heart item. Could use a couple more levels myself I suppose, I'm at 34 right now.

I'm at the final battle but I've been wasting so much time grinding lately. Is LV.76 MC with team-mates in the early 70s good enough?

I have a question for you guys, how do you manage your party members? Do you stick with the same party throughout, rotate new people in as they join, or just completely change them depending on the situation?

Ideally I would like the last option but you'd have to keep grinding their levels up to stay competitive which sounds like such a time waster. Right now Aigis is the only party member I think I want to keep through the entire game.

I kept everyone at about the same level range because I was never sure who I would need for the end of month boss(es), which in hindsight wasn't really necessary except for maybe one or two of them, but when preparing for the final boss I just decided on one group to level and ignored everyone else (especially Ken).
