LTTP: PS Vita Remote play (wow)

I have a Vita (since Day One), and have yet to try remote play. How does it work with Driveclub?

Heck, how does it work at all....I've yet to try, LOL.


Edit* This is due to me just forgetting that it's even an option. I have my own gaming TV (area), so not having a screen has never really made me think "I wish I could still play this".
 
I don't use it often, but I played a little bit of Fallout 4 and Gravity Rush 2 the other day on my Vita while my wmother from was watching YouTube videos on the big screen.

It was really nice. The other times I've used it in the past was great as well, but this was the first time I got to try it on the Pro. I could never get it to change none to at work, but that's because work internet sucked so bad. I'm not sure if it was because I wasn't playing on the Pro or not, but Gravity Rush 2 and Fallout looked really good on my Vita screen. Maybe super-sampling from 4K to the Vita screen resolution, but it looked incredibly smooth.
 
This would be another reason to buy games digitally. I love having physical copies though. Would have to commit to one game at a time if I was to start playing at work. Online multiplayer games wouldn't be an option (due to lag) so that limits my choices anyhow. Thinking RPGs would work best.
 
I love my Vita but don't have a lot of luck with remote play (using both direct and with network). The wired remote play on my PC works well though.
 
This was the main reason I bought my Vita, but could never get it to work as well as I'd like. Using my PS4 wirelessly, it just hangs. Using my PS4 connected to a Powerline adapter worked better in my house, but not at all elsewhere. Would love to be able to make a hotspot with my phone and remote play away from my PS4.
 
It's never worked particularly well for me, the image constantly breaks up. Most likely the PS4's fault, my internet connection is fine
 
Great around the house but garbage if you don't have decent upload speeds at home. Controller parity makes it tough to play some games though. Tapping the back touch pad can be really iffy.

Yeah 8 gigs Will hold a couple of games. I Went with the 64gb from the beginning and yeah it Felt weird to pay more for the card than the system itself hehe

Too bad not everone can get it to work as good as some. When I used wifi on the ps4 it was totally unplayable but the cable solved all issues.

When my vita breaks down I might go for a z-tablet and DS4 combo since I have experienced Most vita games Im already interrsted in. Good stuff
 
Use Remote Play pretty much every night in bed to do those FF XV quests, but I use my Shield Portable instead of my vita. Yes it's heavier and bulkier, but at least it has all the buttons and a higher res screen.
 
I'm in Australia, and I've never managed to get it working over the internet. I can't do share play or anything like that either :(

Locally, it's great though.
 
I tried remote play on my lunch break at work but the Wifi here is kinda shit since it's passing through a proxy and the bandwidth is limited, so the lag was noticeable. In places where I had a good connection though, it was flawless for me. Definitely a cool feature even if just for continuing to play in bed at night before going to sleep.
 
Just an FYI, the PS Vita does not support WPA-Enterprise Wifi connections. So if anyone has the idea of getting a Vita to play at work, check what type of Wifi-protocol your work has.
 
It's been months since I've actually powered my Vita on. I just haven't had the time with my League addiction, being away at college, and my friends owning 3DSes.

'm thinking about doing some remote play of Uncharted since it's hard to get usage of my large screen television lately.

Does Remote play work well with more cinematic games like that? I do want to start working on Uncharted 4, then move onto some other games like Persona 5.

if it works well on your network, it works well. doesn't really matter what the game is.

I tested out TLG on it and it worked fine, but it's not a game I wanted to play on a 5 inch screen.
I played through about half of Knack (like 5 hours) with Remote Play and, other than a little bit of choppiness once or twice, it was fine

Meanwhile my ps4 is not wired, I didn't have to configure anything extra, and it worked straight away when I was out at my parents house half a state away.

I'm hoping when I go to the other side of the country later this month it works this well.
 
Take this with a grain of salt but from my own personal experiences I'm almost certain that Remote Play has undergone a significant improvement (at least on PS4 Pro?) in the last two months. Here's a thread I made on the subject.

The image quality and latency are both hugely improved, on PC, Vita, AND PS-TV. I've had all these devices on a wired network for months alongside my PS4 and only since the latest patch has remote play really felt the way it should for me. In fact, it's almost as good as Steam Streaming now. Can't beat that shit on latency, but RP's image quality is fantastic now!
 
It's amazing at my uni wifi as the connections flawless

At home though it's shockingly bad quality. And the only annoying thing is I can't play shooters due to R2 and L2 Missing
 
I got the one for the LED Vita for $25 grip from play-Asia and Remote Play has been amazing. I recommend getting this if you're going to do a lot of Remote Play from your PS4.
 
im not going to buy both a ps4 and vita just to play on toilet. that costs around $500, and thats not even counting the games and memory cards.

the switch is all in one. so switch is better
 
I never was able to get remote play to work outside my house,2 miles away or 50 miles...not sure why...works great at the house though.(not on G though,on Wifi.)...maybe thats why? if I connect on my friends Wifi 2 miles away,shouldn't it work...?
 
What settings should I use on the Vita if I'm playing in my house and connecting to a wired PS4?
It's basically flawless on the PC remote play, but the Vita is choppy as hell with a 2 second delay.
 
Remote play is amazing. Been playing persona 5 using it and it's been amazing to play it at work and school during down time. It's almost like having a portable version of persona 5.
 
for everyone that has a positive experience with remote play, could you please share what type of internet connection you have on the PS4 side?

I'm in Australia with adsl2 and it is terrible. Just curious what the minimum type connection would be to get it working optimally
 
I see everyone having such good experiences with remote play, yet in my small apartment I have trouble even connecting (I get the "your wireless connection is too slow"), despite having a pretty flawless wifi experience on all my other devices. Makes me bummed out.

Hmm, here I have adsl2 too, it's about 10mbps download and 1mbps upload and it works perfectly at home as long as the general connection isn't acting up, pretty bad on the road but internet is trash anywhere in italy so, lol. When I was back in my homecountry in the summer where everything is connected to fiber links I was raiding in destiny at my local McDonalds lol.
 
I could actually play some Destiny PvE just fine over my phone's 4G hotspot while I was at the hospital. The latency is definitely noticeable when playing PvP or something like Bloodborne. Still crazy that its possible and more impressive than the Switch IMHO

Most likely 2.4ghz interference in an apartment setting
 
Just cos nobody else asked OP: what's 5G?

Edit: I know what 5G is. Just didn't know it was rolled out anywhere in Europe yet
