To be fair, Corn isn't supposed to exist. Humans did make it, I believe in Mexico some 10.000 years ago. Pretty crafty. Corn doesn't exist anywhere naturally, it's always cultivated and maintained by humans. So, while it was created in America, it isn't indigenous anywhere.

*Random history lesson of the week.
Don't even know why I know or where I learned this.

Well a bunch of our foodstuffs don't exist anywhere "naturally" since we've been cultivating them for a long time and molding them to give us what we want.

So hypothetically, would anyone here want to be a Tok'ra?

I think I would do it, not getting sick sounds very nice, and the space adventures would be more exciting than what I'm doing now.

If by space adventures you mean sitting in an underground cave till a systemlord bombs you out of it then probably not.

I would work undercover in ba'als ranks. What a life that would be.

Forever in a Day

This is going to be one of those good episodes ruined by a reset button ending, isn't it...

Edit: hey, they really killed her. Good on them. Would have liked to see the resentment at Teal'c take a bit longer to resolve, but still a good episode.

So SG1 gets MacGuyver, the smartest guy there, the smartest woman there, and Teal'c.... What do the other teams get?

The other teams had the people that die, like Kawalsky.

The other teams get The Other Guys.

I just wanted to chime in that my favourite episode concept out of all series was the one with P3W-451.

A cursory google search will suffice, but I won't post spoilers for the benefit of others.

Also, I acknowledge series 9 and 10. Different, but excellent.

That was a particularly awesome episode. Very different problem for the team to tackle.

Little trivia that caught me by surprise during my most recent watch-through of the series: the actor who plays
Malakai in "Window of Opportunity" shows up again in season 10 as an SG-team doctor who dies from a heart attack in that one episode where everybody is infected with parasites and are trying to stay awake while finding a cure
.

I think that the bar for spoilers is currently DrForester, unless someone else joins this thread.

And it's easier to just say:

Season 2, episode 15, "A Matter of Time"

(spoilers optional on the episode title, in case the name itself might be spoilery)

Past and Present
"We caused a lot of bad things by letting this seemingly kindly old woman who knew a shitload about genetics go."

"Lets befriend and bring back this kindly young woman who seems to know a shitload about medicine. What can possibly go wrong!"

Jolinar's Memories
Man, Sokar seems like a cool villain. Fires of hell, super powerful. Way better than that putz Apophis. Glad he's gone.

Shit...

The Devil You Know
Apophis: "Keep them alive"

Still the dumbass I see.

It was a good two parter, and I will admit, Apophis' escape was kind of cool. Nice (proper) introduction to Apophis.

It had dawned on me that all the Goa'uld spacecraft are really, really ugly...

...really ugly.

So what's your overall opinion of the series so far?

With a lot of BOOM BOOM BOOM ratatatatatatatatatatat *ching* *ching* *ching* ratatatatatatatatatatata

When I re-watched the series a few years back I was surprised by how late they get introduced. They're very deeply integrated into the series especially later on. Although it does make sense - they're the first major antagonist that aren't based in part on the movie.

Not with those rotating sections they're not.

Tough call. 303 is ugly as sin, but then again so are a lot of B5 ships. And dat early 90's CGI...

See, I don't at all like the saucer design on Federation ships. Even later ones like Voyager just look "ehhh" to me.

I actually love the look of the intrepid class. It's sleek, and lacks the turkey neck of the other series. I even like it better than the Sovereign Class just because I thought the Sovereign's nacelles were almost comically long.

Best antagonists.

I love Star Trek ship designs. Sure I know that they're mostly cobbled together Enterprise spare parts, but they really do a good job of it. I used to pour over the technical manuals as a kid. Stargate is severely lacking in that regard, though the 304s are pretty good along with the Ori ships. I was pretty disappointed with how hideous Destiny was.
