LTTP: Stargate Franchise - Indeed

The Walls of the SGC should have disappeared in many a fire fight as well. They get shot way more often then 3 times.

I wonder what the disappearing radius is and how it determines what the end of the body is when disappreaing ab ody? Disappears clothes, but not the floor underneath? HOW!>!

I always assumed the 3 shots disappearing thing was only for lifeforms. Has anything other than another person disappeared from 3 zat shots in the show? I honestly can't recall. If not then I assume it's just for lifeforms.

Speaking of inconsistencies in the Stargate universe:

Watched S4E18 "The Light" last night. Apparently I had never watched it before. I've watched most episodes, but there's always been a few that I passed on earlier because they sounded bad from the description, so it's kind of fun to find them every now and then when I look for an episode to watch.

Spoilers below are from the cold open only.

Anyway:

I'm surprised there apparently aren't more Stargate-related deaths from people being caught in the wormhole-opening vortex. I mean you go to all these planets, many of which have cultures that don't even know what the Stargate is for, much less how it functions, and you're telling me there haven't been incidents where people happen to be standing in front of it and get vaporized?!

I suppose you have the dialing sequence to warn you that something is about to go down, but still. Could have made for an interesting episode where a team (well I suppose it would be the SGC sending a MALP first) accidentally murders someone just by dialing the gate. And then having to deal with the repercussions from that.

And did we talk about S4E2 "The Other Side" yet? I always found that to be a pretty good episode.

Plus they were really inconsistent with how long a zat shot stuns you for. When the enemy gets shot once they get completely knocked out. A good guy gets shot once they're ok within a few seconds.

You know what else was forgotten later on? The Retu. What the hell happened to those guys? Invisible army bent on destroying humanity. Never appear again. Also, sorry if that isn't anywhere close to how Retu is spelt.

And Major Ferretti, one of the few returning characters from the movie. After Kowalski's death he became the leader of SG-2 and then he was never heard from again.

When they traveled back in time to 1969, they zatted all their future stuff, well minus the zat.

But yeah, they probably should have just kept it as a stun weapon.

As good as a the show is for continuity sometimes, other times the writers just don't give a shit and jettison bad ideas. I suppose that's good, if not a bit frustrating.

Well, at some point they just give up and go P90s all the time anyway. lol

The Curse (Osiris episode)
This was a nice set up episode. Danial sure worked for some assholes long ago.

Teal'c fishing was great.

My wife and I love this show that and sg atlantis, but not continuum.

I got her into it enough that she wrote several fanfiction stories (carter/o'neill pair ups).

Window of Oppoturnity (Time Loop episode) was just hilarious.

Didn't really like the humanoid replicator episodes for some reason though.

May plan on rewatching it through soon...

The 3 shots to disintegrate was forgotten so fast in the series. Was silly to bring up in the first place, and they abandoned it.

I loved how those kinds of things (with the "sinking through floor" problem) were lampshaded in the parody episodes (
100 and 200
IIRC).

Whats this referring too? Doesn't ring a bell. And I thought they weakly explained away the 'cold when going through the gate' thing by saying they better calibrated the gate or something?

In episode 100, an alien who knows about SG1 but lost his memory is producing a TV show called "Wormhole Xtreme", which is basically the Stargate show.
We can see many behind the scenes discussions, with the producer suggesting disappearing bodies when they're shot, actors asking why they can walk through walls and not the floor, ...

Episode 200 is about making the movie of the show. They discuss the plot, suggest replacing the cast with teenagers, or use self-aware humor to get out of scenaristic traps, etc.

Both episodes are hilarious. :)

Well, what they also abandon later on in the show is the "coldness" people get from walking through the stargate.

Shit gives you motion sickenss and nausea early on and in the movie. Although I seem to recall they explain this as a problem with their software that they correct?

Aha! See?! I was right, TDM! BOOM! BOOYAH! You were WRONG, sir!

The Serpent's Venom (Apophis doesn't die... again)
Not only is he not dying, he's killing the better villains. I didn't know Sokar was really dead, I figured with the build up they did for the character he'd last more than 3 episodes. And now the other guy is dead too.

Yeah it was really weird that they killed him off so quickly. Then again he lasted way longer then Seth.

Yeah, all that awesome build up for Sokar and he is gone quickly. Such a damn shame.

Definitely, I was hoping that because he took the persona of the devil with his own hell he would have had an Unas host, he wasn't to vain about his looks unlike other Goa`uld.

Opportunity kills crackers don't matter.

God, I hated Farscape. The humor and everything was just so dry. I didn't enjoy it at all. CDM wasn't really even mildly amusing to me.

"Food cubes! Food cubes!"

Ugh.....
