LTTP: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Okay. Seeing this on my uncle's 70-inch HD TV.

I have no idea how this got greenlit.

The acting is non-existent, the CGI is over-abundant, and the music.... this film has got to have not only the worst soundtrack, but the most irritatingly inappropriate placement.

I watched it with very low expectations and wondered what the fuss is about. Yes, they do the S3 approach with 3 villains, with them barely getting enough screentime between them but the CG was quite good and the dynamic between Peter and Gwen was also better I think.

The movie is shit. I can't believe how bad Jamie Foxx acted in this damn thing. I don't know whether to blame the script, the actor or both. Movie is full of cringe, even the action was lame.

Script and direction.

It's the same reasons why the Phantom Menace is a shit film despite having terrific actors in it. No actor is capable of elevating shit material.

I wish they had made this movie instead

The action scenes were pretty good though, there was just too much crap that drowns out any redeemable qualities.

My girlfriend was watching this on our flight last night and the airline very badly and hilariously edited around the plane sequence.

Why the hyperbole has reached insane level already and we're only on the first page.

I think it's not just worse than SM3, but much worse. SM1 love is partially nostalgia fueled, but SM3 hate is overblown in my opinion. It's far from good, but it's not the absolute cluster that people make it out to be.

If I were ranking them all I'd probably rank them as:
SM2 >>>>> SM1 > ASM1>SM3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ASM2

The only amazing thing about this movie is how it manages to fuck up pretty much everything to do with Spider-Man except the costume. It's doesn't even feel like a sequel to the first one.

And remember: the "first reactions on twitter" about this movie were pretty positive

Early reactions to every comic book film are always positive because the only people who are crazy enough to brave the opening night crowds are fans who were sold on the film before they even bought their tickets.

I know (most of) GAF loves Sony, but this movie is why the rights need to go back to Marvel. Sony simply isn't going to do Spider-Man right.

The opening plane sequence set the tone for a horribly disappointing sequel.

I know Garfield blamed the studio for this... but the movie is just not firing all around.

I don't even blame Marc Webb, I think it's 100% Sony's fault.

SM3 is just another bad film on its own but utter trash compared to SM2. Unlike ASM2, at least SM3 had some genuinely fun moments, even if it's got its own share of really craptacular scenes.

Yeah, the only high profile movie ive seen that truly reaches true, absolute 'clusterfuck' level status is Attack of the Clones.

You sure you're not confusing Sony with Playstation? I'd be willing to bet 95% or more of Gaf would agree that Spiderman should be in Marvel's hands, not Sony's.

Unpopular opinion alert: I thought it was awesome. Not perfect by any means but supremely entertaining. Andrew Garfield was great as Spiderman. The romantic dynamic with Gwen was fascinating. Even the action sequences whilst heavily reliant on CGI were a sight to behold. I don't think this ASM reboot touches Raimi's first two films in his trilogy but IMO they're well-made and beautiful to watch. There's several sequences of Spiderman just swinging through the city which are the best depictions of his elegant movement across neon cityscapes I've ever seen.

I think the ASM series are good films. As I said, unpopular opinion alert.

I thought is was a good film for what it was. Nowhere near as good as the MCU but it held its own as a fun superhero movie. I liked Garfield and his chemistry with Emma Stone but agree that they brought in too many villains. Goblin shouldn't have been rushed.

Yup, every performance just keeps to be continuously ringing hollow. Hyperbole would be if I said Hitler gave a better performance during his speeches or something.

But to the user about the costumes: yeah, pretty great.
Despite being a comic book movie I think it portrays relationships in a way more relatable and less cheesy fashion than the original trilogy. Especially when it comes to conversations.

Lol, that's not hyperbole...ASM2 is the worst movie ever created... but one can easily make the case that SM3 is better, (although by a slight margin).

The first 10 minutes were fucking awesome.

Exactly what I wanted from a Spiderman Movie, Spiderman acting like Spiderman.

The rest of the movie was a trainwreck.

Spiderman 3 shits all over this atrocity. I watched SM3 again last night. It's really not as bad as I remembered. .

This. I'd rather be strapped in a chair and forced to watch Spiderman 3 100 times before I view ASM2 for the second time. The movie was complete garbage and it's a tragedy because Garfield is a great Spiderman, Emma is perfect, and the Cinematography is great..but you know, none of that matters when the story is the worse than most video game stories.

It's a really bad movie.

The editing is bad, the direction is uninspired and the plot is a mess.

Garfield, Emma and the humour and the
dead scene
are spot on but the rest ugh. It's not even a movie were you need to nitpick to call it "terrible". It really isn't well done at all.

I like the ASM series for Garfield and Stone plus I think they did a good job with Spider Man's agility. Other than that, I they're bad I don't like them overall.
