I think most people would agree that Spiderman 3 > ASM2.
I sure do, and I'm not an ASM hater, I liked the first movie.
In terms of pure translation I think it may just be one of the best "comic-book" movies out there. Literally the comic book pages have been brought to life with saturated neon colours, cheesy plot lines and one dimensional characters. It chooses to abandon the realism for something that matches its source material from which it is adapted from similar to that of Speed Racer.
That doesn't explain Mary Jane being a complete shit character
The chemistry between Garfield and Stone was so good. If you look at the film as a romantic comedy it works pretty well. Unfortunately as a superhero film it kind of falls flat. Though I still wouldn't it rank it with the worst of comic book movies. Spidey 3, X-men Origins: Wolverine, Fantastic Four 1 and 2, Iron Man 2, Batman and Robin, all much worse films.
This scene would've worked better if we actually care about them. Sadly the movie doesn't want us to.

I think TASM2 might be the worst super hero movie ever made.
Awful story that spends an absurd amount of time retreading ground covered in the first movie, absurd villains that really don't even make sense, and pretty lackluster fights / bad green screen.
And I liked the first movie a fair bit :/

Naaa. Thor 2 is mediocre at best. ASM2 is on Catwoman levels of badness, possibly beyond that. Even the actors couldn't save it, because of how the material was written. I will never believe that Garfield's Parker was well portrayed, because he's made out as this unlikeable jerk who refuses to learn what responsibility means, and at the same time, is never at fault of anything, which in turn makes him out to be an even worse Spiderman (and don't get me started about how those "comic faithful" quips only exacerbate that, let alone trying to get that to work on celluloid).
I quite liked it, Garfield and Stone obviously have real chemistry. But I disliked...deplored...loathed... abhorred Tobey Maguire's Spiderman, so every time I see someone else in the suit, like literally if it was Rob Schneider taking off the mask yelling surpriseee, I'm incredibly relieved. Whew, at least this movie will be better than SM1,2 and 3.

Now, now, I don't think I've heard Parker talk about how much he dislikes sand in the ASM movies.

Only reason Peter and Gwen had any sort of chemistry was because of their natural couple conveyance. The script that surrounded it was fucking abysmal and in the end it all felt completely pointless and amounting to nothing. Didn't even give the ending the dignity it deserved.
Terrible movie that I only think less of with time, partially because it gets clear upon each viewing how there is literally no story and it's just a meticulous layout for the creative team to satiate Sony shareholders. But Hans Zimmer's score is mostly good (the action beats are up there with Brian Tyler among best composers that can evoke "comic book" sensibilities) and the Times Square sequence was a really well directed one which in a split moment was the most Spider-Man thing ever put on film, so there's always that.

Spiderman 3 is one of the few movies I actively hate. I remember being pissed off after seeing that film in the theatre.

I'm in two camps. There's the one which says "don't bother. This movie is just awful. More so that Spiderman 3 ever was", and "if you want to know what the worst example of filmmaking by committee really is, then you've got to see this one to believe it". It's just terrible and pretty much invalidates that Spiderman 3/Back to the Future gif by actually making that movie look good by comparison.
Oh, that was in the Spiderman 2.1 cut of the film.
I really liked it. There are a lot of things wrong with it, but I like Andrew Garfield. I like Emma Stone. I loved Emma Stone together with Andrew Garfield because of their chemistry, so
it legitimately made me feel sorry for him. I hate it when movies force a romance, and I guess this movie did as well. But when the chemistry is this good, I'm buying it completely. I don't give a shit about Electro or Harry, but I did love the fights, Spideys quipping, the way he moved. It's got a lot of flaws, but I just don't give a shit. I was entertained. Both times I watched it.
