I had a friend suggest this show to me last week and I must say I'm very impressed so far. I'm a little over half-way through the first season and it already has been such a rollercoaster.

I'll keep this brief and as spoiler free as possible for those who haven't watched the show yet.

You remember the interrrogation scene in The Dark Knight? And all the crazy shit the Joker was able to do even while he was locked up in jail? That's pretty much this show. There is a mastermind serial killer who organizes other killers to do his bidding. It's up to Kevin Bacon to stop him and at a high personal cost.

The acting is solid. The story and how it unravels with brief flashbacks is compelling and I think it somewhat captures the feel of Hannibal with the dynamic between the protagonist and antagonist. Although this show is more action oriented than psychological.

All in all, if you are looking for something to watch I would highly recommend taking a look at The Following. Season 1 is on Netflix.

This is the worst, piece of garbage show I have ever had the displeasure of watching. It is so bad, it is offensive. It has set women's equality back at least two decades. Comparing this to Hannibal is like comparing a regurgitated day-old Big Mac to a five star steak prepared by a screaming Gordon Ramsay for the Pope. Just don't.

I enjoyed the first episodes but then it turned into an awful show, Tried to watch the start of season 2 but gave up after the first 5 minutes.

Terrible, terrible show that I am still watching for some reason.

Should not be mentioned in the same breath as Hannibal.

I loved it, and I don't understand the hate it gets around here (as you'll see now). I just saw the last episode of season 2 to refresh the memory before starting season 3.

I agree that it's not even close to being as good. But for a show about a cop trying to undo a mastermind killer I think you can do far worse.

I had no idea this show had such a bad rep.

Definitely a guilty pleasure show but damn, I've really enjoyed this 3rd season. So far they haven't relied on Joe that much. he actually doesn't even show up until the end of the 5th episode. Although that could change.

Plus Michael Ealy's character is menacing as hell.

Why would anyone watch shit before Hannibal?

I remember being hyped about this show. Then i watched it. Holy zen. It's so bad. Whoever wrote it seriously hates FBI agents. They made them so bad and incompetent.

Haven't even watched the second season. Someone will have to pay me to tolerate more of that crap.

My girlfriend likes this show.
Let me just say that this is probably the most insulting piece of shit I've ever watched. It starts out as as a seemingly intelligent mystery/drama and devolves into almost comical levels of bad.

The premise makes for complete ass pull moments where if any antagonist is in trouble, then guess what? This random guy was a cultists all along! It happens so often it's embarrassing. If that weren't bad enough the FBI is so incredibly incompetent it's like they're their own worst enemies.

So many times the killers have gotten away not because of some clever scheme, not because of some masterful plan, but because the cops on their tail couldn't be arsed to use some common sense.

"This is a clear trap and we know it's a trap, let me play into their hands even though we've shown in the past we can outwit them"

Okay.

Also they really like to fuck up that guy who plays Iceman on Xmen.
Like that dude gets beat to shit, shot, stabbed, etc. on the regular.

The lead is shown to have heart problems, but regularly has all kinds of fucked up shit happen to him to without flinching. Pretty sure the lead villain gets stabbed like 3 times too and is back at it fighting no prob.

season 3 of hannibal isn't out yet and I was kind of wanting something kind of similar as a hold over.

it's not encouraging that there is so much hate. does it nosedive or something? or do I just have a higher tolerance for B-tier shows?

Okay.

Classic Poe bro.

See studyguy's posts on why it sucks. Great posts on why it's terrible.

Also only good thing to come out of that show was the "classic poe" jokes.

Yeah I tried to get through the first season when it first aired after being pretty excited from the previews. Never did finish it. And I'm still watching the blacklist, which speaks to my tolerance for this kind of stuff.

I enjoyed most of the first season... to me it was a classic example of a show that should have ended after one season.

Very bad. No.

Second season is even worse.

Watched it cuz Kevin Bacon. Oh noes. Why are you in this Kevin Bacon. You should be in GoTG2 as Starlord's fatherrrrrr

James Purefoy's acting as the always #winning villain until the final episode is so bad that it is a must watch though

:D

Waheeee~ First reply nailed it.

Without Joe there's no show, as much as I like the new bad guy.

I watch it and enjoy it. Sure there are dumb cops and bail out but I love Joe as a character. Season two is weak but I enjoy season three. They tone down on the dumb cop aspect.

Not a perfect show but for pure entertainment value it is good.

So bad it's good?

No no, this show is the anus of television. If you really want a LTTP to tide you over until Hannibal, at least watch Dexter season 1-4 (skip the rest).
