Yeah, so I saw a Naked Gun VHS for cheap, and I decided that it couldn't hurt to buy it and see if it was any good. Needless to say, I apologize for waiting so long. I rarely stopped laughing the entire way through. Such an amazing, funny, movie.

How are the sequels?

Naked Gun: Hilarious
Naked Gun 2 1/2: Really Hilarious
Naked Gun 33 1/3: Hey that was pretty good, not as good, but still good.
All other movies by Zucker afterwards: Crap.

Also, Police Squad the TV show rocks. Pick that up if your thirst is not quenched. :D

The DVD commentaries are fantastic on all three also...well worth buying. They're just as hilarious as the movie. :lol

"The Naked Gun started out as a TV series...ABC always wanted us to put in a laugh track, but we fought that battle and ended up winning! We were on for three episodes before being canceled."
"Wait, I guess we lost that battle, didn't we?"
"...oh, yeah, I guess we did."

The second two are awesome. For some reason people don't seem to like them as much but they are still comedic genius. The first is definitely more like the TV show Police Squad which it's based off, and takes a lot of jokes straight from it, but the second and third are still really good. Sometimes I feel like I prefer the 2nd.

Do yourself a favor though:

Funniest television ever, only six episodes but they're absolutely amazing.

When I was growing up, I'd absolutely lose my shit every time I saw the scene where he was singing the national anthem. Great, great movie.

I highly recommend Police Squad, the short-lived TV show the movies were based on.

By watching the movies in order you can see the ZAZ team lose grip of their greatness. They movies make more and more direct references to movie scenes rather than lampooning movies at large. It's kinda their fault that we have Scary Movie and Meet the Spartans.

+1 for Police Squad.

"Cigarette?"

"Yes, I know."

I loved the Naked Gun movies when I was younger. I wonder how the 2nd and 3rd would hold up for me now.

Was this the influence of Lisa Marie Pressly's appearance on this season's Dancing with the Stars?

I love the "crime scene" scene after the explosion in the second naked gun (I think it's the second anyway). All the white chalk outlines of the bodies on the wall, and the egyptian :lol Then Frank treads on a body and they go "Hey lads, Frank has found another one" :lol :lol

Awesome movies.

--Congratulations, I hear Edna is pregnant again.

--Yeah, and if I ever find the sonofabitch who did it ...

One of the funniest lines in cinema imo :lol :lol

I frickin love the Naked Gun movies. The OJ Simpson jokes are some of the funniest parts of the movies :lol :lol

Yeah, who'da thought that the only retribution we'd get against OJ is in movies before the crime?

those were freaking hilarious.

I've always been partial to 33 1/3 myself.

Yeah, I don't understand the hate from Naked Gun fans for 33 1/3. It's still incredibly hilarious.

"Hey! You call this slop? Real slop has got chunks in it! This is more like gruel! And this Chateau le Blanc '68 is supposed to be served slightly chilled! This is room temperature! What do you think we are, animals?!"

I just loved the part where OJ, after being shot, rubs against the wet paint door, and sadly expresses his disappointment with "oh no.."

"There's something on the side of your mouth, Al.

No, the other side."

*Out pops half eaten banana*

I will never forget the montage gag where they walk out of the theater laughing hysterically. Tilt up to the marquee: "Platoon"

I really should buy the trilogy on DVD. So much good memories of these movies.

Mayor Barkley: Entering without a search warrant, destroying property, arson, sexual assault with a concrete dildo... what the hell's got into you, Frank?

I can never get enough of Naked Gun movies. Especially the first 2. I liked the third, but it was clearly inferior. If you liked Naked Gun, you should really check out Airplane! and Top Secret! They're by the same guys and just as funny. Airplane! might be the best spoof movie ever made. I wish someone competent made another great one, but I'm afraid were stuck with absolute crap like Date Movie/ Epic Movie and the like. They have abolutely no idea what makes a good spoof movie.

Spy Hard was on telly last night and it's just like night and day. It has a few funny jokes, but on the whole it just competely misses the point. I think the last great spoof movie was Hot Shots! Part Deux, although Not Another Teen Movie had its moments.

I really don't care for Airplane at all like I do with Naked Gun. NG seemed to age great, whereas Airplane has not. But that's another debate. :D

Oh, and if you see Naked Gun on TV, watch it. There's a ton of deleted scenes and footage added back in to stretch the runtime, and some of it is pretty silly (none of the footage is available anywhere else as far as I know, even on the DVDs.)

Andy Griffith as General Rancor = Win

Top Secret and the Hot Shots are equally great.
Airplane on the other hand, I really don't think holds up that well. I'm sure its post modern style was revolutionary at the time, but they got much better at it later on.
Kentucky Fried Movie I have yet to see.

I remember really liking the Mentos commercial spoof in Spy Hard. I laughed.

The third one has some great moments, in particular the opening Untouchables sequence and the foreign cab driver sequnce.

"I wonda wot the devil he wanted."
