He had the best theme.
Steve Blackman was #2
He had the best theme.
Are we seriously saying Shamrock and Blackman had better themes than Austin?
Gangrels theme too
It's really bad outside of nostalgia.
Who watches wrestling for the matches anyway? To me that's like watching Rocky for the boxing part. Stories is what it's all about. I fast forward every Raw match today unless there's a good story behind it. (So all the time)

The biggest matches of the attitude era were:
Bret Hart vs Austin at Mania 13 (Story: They didn't like each other)
It's shocking that you would reduce the story to this. Do you understand why the double turn happened? Whether they liked each other or didn't like each other was irrelevant. It was more about Austin using Bret to make a name for himself. And Bret getting frustrated because even though he proved himself better than Austin time and time again, it didn't matter. It wasn't good enough for the fans and it wasn't good enough to get what he wanted because he was constantly getting cheated. Not by Austin but by everyone. Bret's tantrum that he threw a week before WM wasn't because of something Austin did. It was because of something Undertaker did. This was the best story in all of wrestling and not liking Austin had nothing to do with it. Bret was frustrated with the entire WWF including the fans. (This led to the great USA vs Canada wrestling war of 97)

I find this to be a pretty false accounting of what most people actually take away & remember about the attitude era.My point was, it was a relatively simple storyline (and one that has been done many times in pro wrestling). They also definitely hated each other and it was def relevant but that's kinda beside the point. The point is the AE wasn't known for these kind of storylines, it was mostly known for things like Val Venis almost getting his penis chopped off, one of the Road Warriors being an addict, the dumb as shit higher power storyline, nonsensical heel turns, titles being traded off every week etc. The few high points to rise above that were relatively simple storylines that have been done in wrestling for years.

11 chair shots to the head while handcuffed? I'll say it again, Mick Foley is out of his freaking mind.
Jesus.

Been watching some amazing reviews of old WWF events. https://www.youtube.com/user/OSWreviewHD/videos
Give's promos leading up to the matches, and a bunch of context for the time period. It's pretty glorious, I adore '89-92.

The fucked up thing is that's not the first time he did that. He did almost the exact same match with Shane Douglas before (that one was 11 too I think) and I guess decided that it was a good enough idea to do AGAIN.

Don't forget, Foley's family and small children were front row for that madness.

1998 in the bag.
Gotta say, this has definitely been the most entertaining year of the 3 I've gone through. The Austin/McMahon feud has been great, Kane/Taker was great, Mankind becoming a goofball was great (minus Socko which is pretty dumb). Lots of other fun stuff like Val Venis and The Corporation stuff.
Onwards to 99 and my favorite part of every year, The Royal Rumble.
Oh, you're about to hit the Kreski era, aka god mode WWE. After Jarrett leaves, you'll notice a shift.Watching the first episode of Smackdown and wow, Gangrel should never ever be given a mic again. He is so so so incredibly awkward and it completely ruined his whole evil vampire shtick.

Hopefully he takes D-Lo brown with him.
