LTTP: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

This is funny. I remember the first time I played this on another computer, I had this same problem. Years later, new computer, same problem: Does certain dialog sound echoey to any one else? Really annoying when it happens. I didn't see any mention of it in any of the patch notes.

Just to add to those response screenshots posted earlier:

Heh. I've always been conciliatory with him so I've never seen anything along those lines. Is it possible to blow him off completely?

Oh ha ha, it certainly is, in fact telling him you aren't going to the Elizabeth Dane or to Grout's Mansion triggers one of the best interactions (in my opinion) in the game, you should try it out.
He uses Dominate on you and all of your dialogue options change to "I will go to the Elizabeth Dane" or "I will go see Grout."
In some of the later missions, you can blow him off but you can't really progress until you go back to him and finally accept the mission.

By the way, I never see Beckett any more when he's supposedly 'stalking' you in the beginning. The only place I ever remember seeing him is at the top of the cliffs on the beach but I haven't seen him there even in several playthroughs. There are supposed to be others but I've never seen them. Does anyone have a list of where he shows up? I can't seem to find one with google.

That's reverb environmental audio I believe. It's in the options menu.

I was looking for him a few days back on my most recent playthrough and didn't notice him either. As for other spots, I cannot think of any although I'm almost certain that there is a wolf howl at some point.

I'll try out LaCroix lines, thanks for the heads-up.

Maybe there is a bug with the unofficial patch.

It's possible I suppose, but I search through the entire readme, and Beckett doesn't come up hardly at all (except for once or twice, once being a conversation restored between him and the prince).

I'm wondering if I should try ToEE since I skipped it the first time around due to talk of bugs and the party system. Is it worth a spin these days?

Besides the really deep implementation of the D&D combat system, it's terribly boring and the game is devoid of personality. The fan made patch also adds some really bad voice recorded dialogue to the game that makes Dynasty Warriors sound like the second coming.

So Heather is my ghoul now. Kinda felt guilty taking her college loan, but hey she offered and don't think she'll need school anymore :lol Then I told her to change her clothes, wonder if she will. I'll go check on her next time I boot the game.

Oh and I wish Fat Larry could be my ghoul for comedic purposes alone.

You on vista by any chance? I got that same error but when I installed the latest unofficial patch it fixed it, but unfortunately I can't remember which unofficial patch I installed :lol

Just try one of them and hope for the best

Many people have linked to the unofficial patch in this thread. I believe there is some files in the "tools" folder that help with Vista issues.

You haven't installed the unofficial patch correctly.

Booted up this sucker again and started anew. Almost beat the game with Toreador before my saved glitched out. Giving Tremere a spin, Blood Boil sounds awesome.

I never noticed the menu music was Angel by Massive Attack until now.

So, im at the museum.
I LOVE this game.

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but...this is like Mass Effect, with Vampires instead of Scifi. Meaning, it´s so damn immersive. Wah, i think im going to make a new topic about that, haha. Is Bioware somehow related to these developers?

Anyway, my Tremere feels like a really "normal" vampire, but im glad, because i figure that i get the "basic" game like that, while with other races the game changes rather drastically, if only in an atmospheric sense.

The parts i like least are the action-scenes, but thats mostly because the game´s framerate is horrible and the controls go mad due to that (i press forward, guy goes forward, i release the forward-button, guy still runs forward for a few seconds). That got me killed many times, haha.

I´ll play more later, but i´d die for a remake for the 360, like the Chronicles of Riddick-game. This game has all the gameplay modern games have....or rather more. It only suffers from the tech behind the game.

Not really. Well, I guess they were both involved with Interplay back in the day.

I've gotten the latest unofficial patch and when I start the game, it starts up fine and that about it, i can't see anything after the intro....welp ?

Alright, question for the ones who have played this game with the v5.9 patch:

I've gotten a fair bit into the game now, and I'm having a problem with the Odious Chalice (quest reward from the Nagaraja). The description says it already has 10 blood points, but when I press use, nothing happens! Anyone know of this bug(?), and how to fix it?

It worked for me, but somehting (possibly the patch) really screwed with "use" and only text would resond. Try double clicking on the object instead.

Sounds like a resolution / refresh rate issue with your monitor. Reading around has shown solutions to be putting your refresh rate to your normal resolutions to 60hz & forcing resolutions. You may want to also try using the respatch.exe tool in the /tools folder, and forcing the 16:10 resolutions if you have a widescreen monitor.

From the readme:

If the Odius Chalice is not working move it to the left inventory.

Hope that helps, not really sure what it means, been a while.

Oh, missed that. The Chalice is indeed on the right side of the inventory, will try in a minute. Thanks!

Also, another question (minor sidequest spoilers):

Alright, killed the "big stone monster", and reported back to Isaac. Already got my reward from Strauss (the charm), so am I allowed to report him to Isaac to get the 2 XP? Or does he give some additional quests later?
I can't remember.

I can't remember.
Neither of them have any other quests and I'm fairly certain you can get the reward from Isaac too.

BeeDog said:
Thanks, will rat him out for the 2 XP then.
Oh uh actually it does
effect your choice of endings, I think you can't get him to help you if you care about that.
I slightly misunderstood your question.

Ah, fuck that, Anarchs all the way baby.

You'd think I'd be able to help you with this, but I didn't even remember putting him on those cliffs until you just mentioned it. :lol

The only other thing I remember doing with Becket personally was the
first time he actually talks to you at the warehouse
.

Seems people are really knowledgeable about this game here, so if anyone want to report a bug in v5.9, here's it:

The quest where you have to collect a lot of random junk for Gary from various places is somewhat borked. The quest log shows the items in a completely different order than what you're asked to do (the e-mail he actually sent is the correct thing he's currently looking for).

You might want to check out this thread, it sounds like it's a similar problem you're having.

That's the board to post your problem on though, if Wesp is still active he should address it, and if it is indeed a bug, hopefully fix it for 6.0.

Edit:

Good news! From the forums over there:

You only need to install the latest patch and if you can wait a few days, 6.0 will be released next week with a lot of new restored stuff!

So went back to see Heather and she clobbered a dude and stuck him in the bathroom?! :lol Told him to leave, but man... I hope she doesn't cost me Masquerade points.

Ha ha, I did the same thing on my first play. Unfortunately, you can't have her change back to her college outfit.

It sounds like you can (since version 4.6) with wesp's patch, unless there's something special about the college outfit I'm not remembering:

+Made it possible to specify which clothes Heather should wear next.

Curious to see what version 6 brings in a few more days (hopefully)!

Unless there was some kind of bug (not unlikely), she cycles through normal/original, goth and something else. Memory hazy, but I'm sure you can get her back to the original.
EDIT: At the above, I think that just means you can reach any outfit in one step rather than having to cycle through them.

Will going from 5.9 to 6 break the save games?

Yes, with the unofficial patches, it is recommended you start a new game when using a different version. I believe there may be some technicalities, where you could get away with it, but I'm not sure what they are.

If you're interested in using the newest patch, it will probably pay off to wait a few more days for v6. That post from wesp was 5 days ago, so with any luck we'll see it very soon.

If you're not using the plus version of the patch, there's probably not going to be a huge difference. Most of the restored content goes in to the plus version, and the basic version is heavily stripped to contain mainly bug fixes.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably just restart since I'm only just past the tutorial. The only bug I've noticed so far is an annoying one when picking up items out of the safe and desks where each time I click "take" the screen dissappears without anything being taken. I have to look in the container like 10 or so times before it actually lets me take the item.

The main thing I remember from this game is Jeanette and how completely surprised I was by that plot twist
It seems so obvious afterward but I never even considered it

Something just clicked for me regarding something near the end of the game.
When the Sabbat attack Venture Tower, there's all that rubble on the street from a bomb that was set off; the news refers to the Sabbat as terrorists who planted a bomb in the building. But when you talk to the Prince he says "...two of them made it a few floors up, but I took care of them." The Sabbat didn't have a bomb at all, the Prince pulled out one of his unwilling suicide bombers to take them out like he tries to get you with later. He's fond of doing that, it seems.

Also, I don't think I've finished the game as Nosferatu before because I don't remember the awesome Nosferatu haven. The TV gets no picture, only static with audio!

Incredible game, as was their other effort Arcanum. It's looking a little bit like Obsidian is going the way of Troika now, though ; ;

You shut your whore mouth.

oh, something i couldnt get answered yet: is it normal for the framerate to be so sucky, or is this my exclusive problem? my notebook´s specs: 1,73 GH, 1 GB Ram, Ati X700 128 MB graphics card.

Phew, just finished the warrens. Easily the absolute worst place(s) in the whole game, what an amazingly annoying drag that always is.

That hardware is not surprising for a poor framerate. I had a much faster cpu and similar but faster gpu (800XT 256 meg) a long time ago, and the game ran average. You're not really that much beyond the game's requirements, and I'd say the video card and cpu are a little weak.
