Just started the game again didn't own a memory card on my first at it and was pretty fun :D.
Just started my backlog of GC games. Anyone know how long is this game is cause I need to play alot of games in a short amount of time :D?
My backlog goes like.
Viewtiful Joe
Viewtiful Joe 2
Metroid Prime
F-Zero GX
Tales of Symphonia
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Time Splitters 2
Evolution Worlds
Smash Bros Melee

Yeah, no idea how long this game is - can't remember at all. Somewhere between 5-10 for most people maybe?

I skipped out on "Kids" difficulty and played it on "Adult". I had a blast with it, VJ2 is vastly underappreciated.

for me, it was about 15 hour range(hey, those later stages get TOUGH).

This game probably took me around 15 hours to finish with many retries at some parts. It's great, but I really hated the last couple stages, especially
Fire Leo and the boss gauntlet where you have to kill him AGAIN
.

Play VJ1, forget the rest.

-VJ2 is a rehash up there with the most uninspired mega man games
-VJ Battle Carnival is a poor man's smash bros
-VJ DS feels nothing like it's console counterpart and is extremely easy to boot.

I never did get around to VJ but I always intended to play it eventually. Should I go for the PS2 or the GCN version? I know the PS2 version has some extra stuff in it.

Too hard and I'm weak. I kept trying to come back to it and it kept beating me with puzzles. Not the fighting, which was awesome, but those fucking puzzles. It took me about an hour to figure out how to do the jumping bus thing.

Gamecube. That's where it was intended to be enjoyed.

i got stuck fighting the
joe clone boss thingy
and started playing vj2. i dont know why i didnt finish it, might of been because of super paper mario.

I found Viewtiful Joe 1 to be -real- hard. So the game took me quite a while (more than 10 hours). In fact, I think it's normal mode is way harder than even the original DMC3.

Or maybe it's because I found the bosses in DMC3 to be more entertaining so the increased challenge didn't get to me, but for some reason Viewtiful Joe's bosses pissed me off. I hated them. The regular enemies and going through the level on the other hand, is fun. Solving puzzles, kicking the shit out of things etc.

The only thing that's really a pain is the boss rush into Fire Leo.

Definitely a pretty steep difficulty curve at points, but nothing obscene until that. Takes a while to figure out how to play the game effectively.

I beat this game on V rated, that was pretty tough. Anyone who beat Ultra V rated is a Mangod.

It's funny how I can beat games like this on the hard difficulty, but I can't even get past the 6th mission in DMC3 on normal (SE!). I'm genuinely scared of that game

Is the sequel worth playing? The first game got too frustrating during the ending and I never had the will to beat the final boss gauntlet. Is the sequel just as bad in that regard?

I think I remember it being similar.

The second game is fine, just uninspired. The two character thing doesn't add much and not much else has changed.

This was my favorite action game last gen, and one of my favorite games ever actually.

I can do a speed run on Normal in just under 2.5 hours.

But I never did beat the last boss on Ultra V-Rated, cheap sonuvabitch.

The sequel is 'fun' if you like crappier vehicle levels, lamer bosses, and uneven enemy placements that don't favor combo strings. :/

Never did get around to beating it after I got stuck on some underground drill/submarine level. Yeah, that's not a typo.

I'd say PS2 - playing as Dante is awesome; it's a completely different experience to playing as Joe. Plus the dialogue in Dante's story is full of in-jokes that mock DMC2.

Like which? I played it and didn't find any jokes that ripped DMC2. I know it had some humor with alastor and such, but I didn't play all the way through to the end. Care to mention what was said?

VJ is great but the boss gauntlet will defeat most of the gamers that crash up against it. I found VJ2 to be generally easier, but it also has a boss gauntlet that isn't all that hard if you've beaten the one from the first. Anyway, VJ is AMAAAZING.

VJ2 is really uninspired and feels more like a mission pack than a real sequel. That said, I got it for $20 and it was worth the money at that price. It's kind of bleh but the boss at the end of the gauntlet in this one is pretty fun and I really enjoyed the last boss.

I liked VJ: Double Trouble more than a lot of people I think. It's not as good as the first VJ and definitely has a different pace to it, but I found it generally more enjoyable and creative than VJ2. It's also really good graphically considering the platform it's on.

viewtiful joe is a spectacular example of how to take a genre that's dead in the water (the 2d brawler) and--after a long period of rest and creativite gestation--make something that is unique, and fun, and better than any of the games in the genre that came before it. joe himself is sort of just an enthusiastic bozo, but the boss characters ("daaaaaaaaaavidson is in the how-ouse!") are really colorful, and memorable.

looking at the three games that mark the history of clover, okami is often venerated for its creativity, god hand for its fight mechanics; viewtiful joe is the best of both worlds, as far as i'm concerned. it's a masterpiece of a game.

Is it worth buying the sequel, having not played the first game? I'm looking for it on eBay, but I currently can only find Viewtiful Joe 2. Should I buy that one or wait until I have a chance at buying Viewtiful Joe 1?

That depends entierly on you.
true, some people will quit the game if they cant beat a boss, or some people will keep trying, it really depends on you

Meh. In the process of beating the ass of everything on my screen, I would unintentionally slove the puzzles and move on to the next part of the stage without any effort. Basically once you get the basics the game is really....really....lame and easy. After about a week or so I traded it in toward....ummmm....I think it was a used copy of Breath of Fire 5: DQ.

DO ME GAMING GOD

I was looking foreward to the game so much, I imported it from Japan a few months before it came out here (as all the dialogue was already in english). Beating it on Ultra V mode was very satisfying. Loved the last two bosses, too.

i actually love the fire leo boss, hes cool, hes hard, but once u know how to beat him, its so much fun figiting

and when u beat him, i actually screamed to the tv lol

Yeah, it really captured the sprit of the old school 2d games. It made you want to throw the controller thru someone's ****in head.

Loved it when it came out on the PS2. Dante was a really nice bonus.

Alastor while reading his diary mentioned the DMC2 events, which Dante didn't remembered happening.
