Thank you. :lol

And wow. Happy fucking birthday, kid. 0_0

Looks like you don't pay taxes in Canada if the contest has a skill testing question:

What about taxes on winning a prize? - That depends on where you live. In the U.S., there are typically taxes to be paid by the winner on the value of the prize. In Canada, if the contest or sweepstakes has a skill-testing question, it is usually deemed to be a game of skill and not a game of chance, so there typically are no taxes to be paid. (The Province of Quebec generally has it's own regulations regarding contests and sweepstakes). No matter where you live, it is always best to check with your local tax office regarding potential taxes on winnings from a contest or sweepstakes.

I've never seen a contest where you did not have to fill out a skill testing question. I'm also fairly certain that lottery winnings are not taxable.

Didn't the kid throw the last dollar into the audience? :lol

I think he was throwing the winning dollar to the person who was giving him the right numbers. Not much of a reward comparatively, but still pretty cool.

All the prizes count as income. He would have signed a contract, but to be hones, sell the scooter and one of the cars (shit, the depreciation alone when he sells one, might be tax deductable) and he's good.

Still, wtf. I've never seen anyone so damn lucky.

OH ... MY ... FUCKING ... GOD!!!!!!! 0_0

That was AMAZING!!

If only he won both showcases ... it would be a flawless victory. That would have been unfucking real ... 2 cars, and a trailer?!!?!

This is the greatest man to ever play a game show.

In 1984 this man was able to watch, and memorize the light pattern of the board in the show "Press Your Luck" He managed to get on the show, and managed to amass over $110,000, making 47 spins, only hitting a whammy in his first spin. CBS's winning cap at the time was only $25,000 (keep in mind, it's 1984), so he would not be invited back the next program, but was entitled to his winnings. CBS tried to accuse him of cheating, but Larson was able to argue that what he did was no different than cracking the books for Jeopardy, so they had to pay him in the end.

The mans story ends sadly though as a gambling addiction and a few real estate scams cost him his money and he eventually died of cancer. Still, his appearance was quite epic.

I was just reading about Michael Larson like two days ago, and watched his episode of PYL. Awesome stuff.

hahah I watched this a few years ago... it's epic, and very shortly in you can tell he's totally abusing the system since he stops it on the same square almost every time.

Holy shit. That's nuts. I'd have went to Vegas after I left the studio.

Wouldn't have done him any good as he's only 19. Unless... he went as Pappa Georgio.

The Wiki said that a large chunk of money was lost when someone stole it while him and his wife were at a Christmas party. It didn't go into any detail though. Have you heard more about what happened?

Interesting how easy it is to spot the jealous/bitter people in life.
Huh? I was honestly saying good job. The cash winnings will off-set the cost of the cars and other prizes so he gets to enjoy them without paying the big taxes. Some people are forced to give up the prizes because they can't afford the taxes (like the Oprah incident!). Luckily, though, this is in CA where you have to offer a cash alternate prize, anyway. :D

What crawled up your ass?

"And while celebrating marky mark day in Boston, you'll want to put your funky bunch in this..."

".........brand new car!"

I laughed.

If I remember right from the Game Show Network special about it, the guy converted a large portion (or all of it) of his winnings to $1 bills to try winning a radio station contest that had something to do with matching up serial numbers, and the bills were in a bunch of bags in a room at his house, and someone broke into the house during a Christmas party and got away with the theft.

Here's a serious question: Has anyone made a movie about that PYL contestant? That'd make an AWESOME character study flick. I'll write it.
