Luminous Arc Infinity announced for PS Vita

Oh my, this is very interesting.

I'm still pissed off we never got the third DS game in English. Figures the first one that actually lets you form a gay relationship is the one that's left untranslated. >_<

Really loved the first one. It was a solid SRPG with a pretty fun relationship system from what I've remembered. Surprised to see this serie is still alive.

I need this to be localized :(. I played the first 2 DS games to death and half of part 3 before the language barrier got to me. In any case I'll still import the shit out of this when it comes out.

No mention of Imageepoch, wonder if this is in-house only. Criminal Girls Vita was similar IIRC.

Luminous Arc Infinity is developed by Felistella. The dev is made up of ex-Flight Plan folks, and they did the Summon Night 3 and 4 ports for PSP and developed Summon Night 5. They also worked on Neptunia Rebirth and Rebirth 2.

ImageEpoch might be on death's door maybe.

Wouldn't be surprised if most of the developers worth a crap at ImageEpoch left awhile back and now they can't really sell projects to anyone now. They seemed somewhat promising earlier on but in the end... meh. We didn't even get what were reputedly their best games.

Odd that they chose to release it on a different platform than they usually do but the Vita could use more games so its all good.

Havent played the original yet though but will sometime in the future ;o

Really liked LA1 on DS. Though how shitty the animation was, was a real downer. Everything had like 2-3 frames of animation lol.

Not really digging chibi 3D.

We never got Sol Trigger, which actually looked interesting ( ImageEpoch actually filed a trademark for it in English and Japanese) .

And people have been begging Aksys to localize Fate/Extra CCC.

We got Arc Rise Fantasia, which is easily their best console RPG, but it got a horrible localization.

They just released Toushin Toshi for 3DS in January (their best jrpg to date, IMO). I don't expect another JRPG from them for another 6-12 months, but I'd be surprised if they are not working on something. I wonder if they have shifted development to Vita and/or PS4 (which could delay things a bit), as there is certainly an audience for their games on those platforms.

They're making a SRPG for their 10th Anniversary IIRC, money's on 3DS after self-publishing two games on 3DS (Toshin Toshi and SoniPro).

SoniPro really suffered sales wise due to the CONSTANT delays I would think.

Like the artsyle (not normally a chibi fan but the specific look is good). Trailer is private, did they show anything interesting?

I dont feel bad about those kind of games bombing on 3ds, didnt island days and new loveplus + also bombed ?

Luminous Arc is still a thing huh. Was a mediocre SRPG series that sold only due to the names on the cover. You can say that for Imageepoch games in general though.

That was my first reaction to the news too XD I didn't even realise there was a LA3 (although it sounds like it wasn't localised?). I never made it through LA2 cos I didn't like the engagement/marriage system it introduced. I'd prefer it if the game just chose a girl for me/the MC to end up with like the first game. But the screenshot in that article looked kinda cute so I'm a liiiitle interested this time.

I adored the other Luminous Arc games. Disappointed I never got to play 3 since it wasn't localized. Hopefully that won't be the case with this one.

Well they currently have nothing announced at all, and they've been pretty quiet in the last couple of years. I can't see them doing terribly well. Maybe the 100k or so they get for every game is enough to keep their publishing efforts afloat though. It's still laughable how they tried to make a big splash initially and then fell flat on their face. There was supposed to be a big console Type-Moon project too, which got delayed and delayed. I guess it eventually got canned. Lol.

As a genuine question, what's the big deal about Imageepoch? Were they composed of industry vets or something when they first started?

They've always seemed like a slightly-bigger-than-otaku-fanbase developer (until recently, when they're barely even selling to that fanbase) who haven't made anything particularly noteworthy. Or from what I've played, particularly better than the likes of Falcom or Gust.

Toushin Toshi also didn't really do that well. It only managed to sell 22.4K copies according to Geimin.net.
