Lunar: Harmony of Silver star additional scenario detailed

even if they had given it to Vic it would still need a fresh translation

so many pop culture references in the PSX version that would go over a lot of people's heads nowadays

Bull. If you look at the volume of pop-culture specific text, it's way less than 5% (probably less than 2%) of the overall. The majority of the text in both games is simply unique characters with unique things to say (down to individual townspeople connected across the continent at times).

And some of the pop-culture references to our time are completely relevant to the unifying LUNARverse, still. :)

This is true. Having played the Japanese versions as well, I can confirm many of the unique things the townspeople say in Lunar were present there as well.

For example, in Lunar 2, there's a dude near the mayor's house in Larpa who's, erm, relieving himself in some bushes. This isn't a WD addition of any sort; he's there in the Japanese version, and that's exactly what he's doing there too.

Most people I've spoken to assume WD added that in for humor. They simply translated that.

So, just to compare, it would be like Square completing changing the personalities and voices of characters in FFVII. Like giving Cait Sith a Scottish accent or turning Reno into a bumbling jackass...

O WAIT
or forget their own game plot when making a deplorable cgi movie cash-in O WAIT

According to Wikipedia:
* Brave Story: New Traveler
* Wild Arms XF
* Half Minute Hero
They did a great job on all of those projects; they turned what was supposed to be an uninteresting and extremely cliche'd script into something tolerable and sometimes enjoyable. I, for one, am not worried. I can barely remember playing through the PSX's version to even defend it, I only remember it being charming.

And I'm not sure how many of them would really need to be changed, anyway. A joke about Austin Powers might be a little dated, but probably a lot more people would get the Harry Potter joke now than got it in 1999. :lol

This really just makes XSeed's terrible decisions regarding this project so, so much worse.

Yep. I'd love to experience this extra content (despite being sick to fucking death of this game being remade), but I'm not touching Lunar without a Vic Ireland localization.

I'm more pointing at the clusterfuck of tears that was the initial "non-WD translation for this remake" thread.

Lunar 2, actually; somebody in Vane talks about a kid with glasses and a funny mark who's good at magic, IIRC.

Yep, even mentioned the name 'Harry.' Looked it up on Google and found the exact text on Lunar-Net. Definitely didn't get it back in the day. I didn't get into HP until book 3 or so, IIRC, or not long after movie 1 hit the theaters.
