Have you watched Slumdog Millionaire?
She is the epitome of Indie as far as I'm concerned.
Soo...you should know that she is more than just famous for having a song in pineapple express trailer. She did vocals for Slumdog Millionaire OST. O Saya won Oscar that year, and has MIA's vocals. If anything, people remember Paper Planes more from the train sequence in that movie.Yes. One of my favorite movies, and perhaps my favorite movie scene of all-time.
?
She is signed by Interscope Records, a division of UMG, and just performed at the Super Bowl. There is nothing about that last sentence that says Indie.
Yours certainly adds a lot to the discussion.Good god. This is the most uninformed post in this thread.
Wanting the law and contracts enforced is being outraged now? Good show gaf. Someone does something they're not allowed to, issue a fine, end of story. I'm not calling for public tar and feathering or public apologies. I'm talking about a discrete private piece of mail being sent to whoever does this with an urge to make a mandatory monetary donation. No really, this would do nothing but help her image.
The better thing to do if you hate all of this would be to not get outraged.
This was a brilliant move by M.I.A. She released a music video called Bad Girls a few days ago, then flips the bird during the Superbowl to prove. And people couldn't help but take the bait. She pretty much stole the halftime show.
Pretty good marketing move.
M.I.A needs to go M.I.A. Who actually likes her? And Madonna? WTF? My 45 year old Uncle used to obsess over her when I was 10. Why is she still spreading her legs on TV?

MIA just seems like an ungrateful piece of shit not belonging in the half time show
I agree that she should be fined. As for the NFL, I guess they should be, since it was their broadcast? I don't know how things like that typically work. But I do agree with Rocket Scientist that the rules should be enforced.
"Oh, it's just a gesture, just a middle finger...who cares?" I guarantee that if I taught my two-year-old to give people the finger whenever we are out in public, I'd catch hell over it. Because it's not 'just a finger' or 'just a gesture,' it means "FUCK YOU." And last time I checked, that was considered an obscenity.
No, I'm not going to.![]()
Are you going to teach your two year old daughter to dance like those background dancers? Because apparently that's acceptable.
Hello, why is this a 10-page thread?
If it's not against some kind of rule or law, then I do not support a fine I guess.

I agree she did it to sell records though.
Well, if it's not against the rules or laws, then she shouldn't be punished for it, right? She can't be fined for not doing anything wrong.I hope you don't pass your strong convictions on to your children![]()

This M.I.A. girl is beautiful, not sure if it's the traditional kind of beauty but it just works for me. Knew about her, but never knew what she looked like, I'm enjoying watching some of her vids on youtube just because of her pretty face.
I just play video games during the halftime show.
She's not my type but I certainly did a double take when I saw she was in her mid-30's. She's looking damned good for her age.
This. I do remember my screen going all blurry for about a second (which I guess was NBC's "oh shit" moment of trying to censor it), but that's about it.This is such a non issue it isn't even funny. I didn't even notice that she did it.
wut
I thought she was 24 or something. Haha.
