Mad Max: Fury Road is R rated?

An R-rated $150 million movie these days? Only the Matrix sequels got away with that. So yeah, I don't think so.

Please be R

I didn't realize that the budget was $150 million. Yeah that might put it in PG-13 territory. R Rated movies seem to be segregated to being under $100 million dollars budget these days. Though, I do think that there could be a slim chance that Warner Bros. might be ballsy enough to try releasing an R-rated movie at that budget, but even then that seems like wishful thinking on my part. Probably going to release an unrated version on Blu-Ray.

Yeah, but I'd appreciate if this were a heavy R reboot. I think the budget confirms PG-13.

There's not much in Road Warrior (the one everyone really thinks of when they think Mad Max) that would get it the R today, aside from the one or two shots of a dead woman's bare breasts. That's basically it, the nudity. They don't really curse, and there's not a lot of blood, either.

If this IS PG-13, I don't think that means the movie got watered down any. I mean - look at that fuckin' trailer.

Wanting a gory, foulmouthed Mad Max movie seems weird given the best Mad Max movie doesn't have those things.

This movie looks surprisingly awesome! One of the only reboots/remakes/whatever to actually appeal to me. I hope they just make the damn movie the best it can possibly be and let it be rated accordingly.

So we can expect tame rubbish?

I don't think so. Based on the trailer this movie is going to be batshit crazy and have plenty of action, explosions, and all-out mayhem. Whether it will be gory enough to be R is a separate matter. PG-13 can get away with quite a bit of violence and gore these days. If something pushes Fury Road to an R rating, I'd guess it would be nudity.

Have you seen The Road Warrior lately? Other than a brief shot of a topless woman there is like nothing in that movie that would warrant an R rating today

this isn't all that dissimilar from people who came out crying that Deadpool needed to be R-rated even though the most successful, well-liked versions of the character aren't.

I really don't care at this point, just give me the trailer and make it whatever rating you want.

And I'm a Mad Max 1 > Mad Max 2 guy.

I'm guessing PANTHEON only wants swearing in this film cause it's Australian or something :P

A heavy R reboot on such a massive budget scale might not make financial sense. Maybe if this was less than $100 million like Kingsman?
