Jon Hamm deserves an emmy! 3 more years of the show, 3 more chances. He has to get at least one.
Because the next season of Breaking Bad will start in July (instead of January-March like in Seasn 1-3), it won't be eligible at the 2011 Emmys!
This means, of course, that someone other than Bryan Cranston has to take the best lead actor in a drama series award home with him. Just who could that be...? :D

Someone should photoshop Jack from Lost over Roger there (and put it in the other thread). It must be done!

Not to go off topic, I'm wondering if Mad Men will still air in July next year. I don't think either Mad Men or Breaking Bad could air 9pm with their adult subject matters. The other option is moving it to another night or after BB's run in September. AMC has enough shows now with Breaking Bad/Mad Men/Rubicon/Walking Dead/Hell on Wheels/The Killing they can air two new shows a week.

I'm thinking that AMC won't air Breaking Bad and Mad Men at the same time. They should air them with some of their new shows in an attempt to help get them off the ground.

Breaking Bad and Mad Men have stable enough audiences that it would be a waste of cross promotion potential to run both at the same time.

So glad Cosgrove is back, so sad to see how far Duck has fallen. His arch in season two was just tragic, the episode where he throws his dog out on the street and starts sliding back to alcohol was pretty rough.

Favorite line of the episode?

Lane: "It is a surprise, I agree..." in regards to the Peyton Place spoilers. So perfectly delivered, I love Lane. :lol

Hamm is winning that emmy next year. He's unstoppable this season.

Also helps that Breaking Bad won't qualify.

Anyone notice at the very beginning where the new hire asks for good places to eat around NYC and Don tells him to ask his secretary. And after Don escorts him out of his office and shuts the door, you can hear her say "I don't work for you!"

Had me in stitches. :lol Such a great show.

One of the many Pete Campbell bitchfaces from this episode:

A scientist and gentleman in the manner of Batman.

Man, get that Lost shit out of this thread. Lost fans are like sports fans: they can shit up any thread with just a simple reference to Lost/sports.

I love the comments on AV Club about the handholding being the foundation for a threesome. :lol

Although honestly I was a little taken aback by her holding Don's hand.

Boy Don is a fucking straight up alcoholic now. Wow @ him waking up with that girl :lol

Liberated Peggy was hilarious.

Ken vs. Pete is back. OHMEOHMY

Fantastic episode. The origins of how Don Draper got hired provide so much context. Roger really is good for nothing.

I know by the end of this season Roger is somehow going to be out. It's building and building. His only value continues to be Lucky Strike.

This is what I've been feeling as well. I'd hate for Slattery to be gone, but everything seems to be pointing towards a major change-up/ending for Roger.

Joan is pulling away from Roger too. She berated his behavior last episode and was shooting him glances through all his excessive drinking this ep with the final reprimand at the end.

I think she's seeing that Roger isn't all he's cracked up to be, especially with her own position in the office being on the rise. The men in her life aren't living up to her standards anymore and I really hope they are setting her up for another story arc of her breaking away and becoming even more independant. I still want her to go after that script reading job, dammit!

Needs more Faye. She's really come into her own since the start of this season.

Man, she is beautiful. She looks great without that stupid hairdo in the other pic.

Me too she's been worn down by her ass of a husband contrast Joan in the flashbacks to the Joan of today.

Consistently amazing quality in these episodes! Really liked how nervous Draper was during the award show, but later :lol. Also loved the parallels.

I was kind of disappointed by the alcoholic cliches in this episode, like Don waking up a day later not remembering anything and getting a call about failing at his responsibilities. It seemed too standard for this show.

Didn't really like the episode much, though I liked individual moments like Peggy owning Don with "fix it," and Don being Roger's bitch in the flashbacks.

Edit: And Betty being in the fur ad means she was with Don when he was just a salesguy, saying a lot about her entitled attitude during the show so far.

For some reason their little kiss when he won seemed a little more odd to me.

I don't know. Missing an entire day, waking up in the exact same position and he turns and you start to realize that the girl is someone different - her uniform on the dresser, Betty's call.... it kind of gave the viewer the same kind of confused, hurried rush to figure out what the hell is happening, just like Don. I thought it was a nice touch.

Definitely, but Don was so drunk and giddy that entire sequence (the awards, the meeting, and the after party) that it's tough to draw much from it.

one more time. :lol

this image actually took a scene that I found a bit offputting and out of character and made it golden.

What an awesome picture. Much better than the gifs I made. That scene was so awkward to watch and I hit the pause button so many times, it took me five minutes to watch it.

Btw, I didn't make that image. Just something I found yesterday while looking for gifs.

It's unnerving seeing Draper like this. For some reason seeing his hair slightly out of place was making me uncomfortable.

Oh yes, absolutely. He looked like a ... madman!
God, I'm sorry :(

Fantastic episode again. This season has begun in a much more lively and engaging fashion than prior years. It's certainly the funniest the show has ever been. Don was almost unrecognisable for most of this episode with all his gleeful smiling. That final shot, in particular, was amazing. :lol

Peggy is on fire this season as well. So many great moments and lines.
