Maddox goes after idiot on 9gag, puts her image on merchandise

Makes you wonder though, if the target Maddox is hitting is simply imaginary, with him just painting the bullseye.

No it isn't, it's a way to lump anyone with a different opinion together and ignore any nuance in what they're saying, imho. It kills discussion routinely and just polarizes everything.

I dunno, there are some weird shit that doesn't need defending but GAF has some people going for it.

9gag is a cesspool, so its hard to support them. Maddox is well past his prime, but no one can deny how awesome the Alphabet of Manliness is.

This Maddox is definitely a blind spot for me. I thought I had charted the net deftly since 1995, but somehow never heard of the guy. Interesting how the fates of internet celebrities and reality tv stars seem to burn up quite similarly.

Same here, exactly. Been putzing around the internet since the mid-90s and I have no idea how I missed this guy, not that I mind. I guess I was too busy watching Homestar Runner.

Yeah, I guess, yknow, pedophelia, rape, violent dismemberment...

hmmm, somehow Maddox isn't on my list. Must be an oversight.

I've been on the internet since the 70s and in these 21 years of my life I had not, until now, been made aware of Maddox's existence.

I found his site right before he stopped regularly updating it. I found alot of the stuff he said pretty funny. He's funny till he hits a personal nerve and then all of sudden he's not relevant it seems.
I don't even know what "He's not relevant anymore" means. Was he at some point influencing politics or anything really? I guess he used to be a big fish in a little pond at one point and the pond got bigger. Can anyone name a more relevant blogger?
The defense force shit is stupid, it's just a cop out people use when their opinion isn't validated.

Also I didn't know about Maddox before it was cool....

Two idiots wasting each others time. Maddox writes one of his articles getting "revenge" on a non-existant person. The person spends their time posting on facebook with a fake profile (and pretends to be a woman).

I've been on the net since 2000 and never heard of Maddox until this thread.

So without bias for or against him, what I see is:

Random guy makes fake FB account of a girl for anonymous posting.
Blogger who apparently has some fame whines that his picture is being used without permission.
Random guy makes comment to that Blogger no one cares.
Blogger goes through the trouble of making Tshirts and mugs with the face and name of what he believes is the real identity of the commentor, to harass Random Guy, thus proving the usefulness of a fake FB account.
Random Guy informs Maddox his real name and picture was not the same as the FB account he was posting on.
Blogger types out long comments trying to deflect attention away from the fact that all his effort of making Tshirts and mugs didn't even accomplish the petty mission of getting revenge on someone he never met for making a simple comment about not caring about image violations, even though he's not even the one who used the image without permission.

Blogger's results: Looks petty in front of his fans and people like me who are just now finding who is by putting forth so much energy towards a commentor instead of the one actually using the image without permission. Arguably has increased general awareness of himself by doing this, though anyone in my position is not likely to buy anything from him. Did not even enact revenge on the commenter, which he tried in vain to do. Spent time and money on Tshirts and mugs which are now physical manifestations of how naive he is about identity on the internet. Is currently hoping for validation by trying to get the fake FB account will be deleted, even though a new fake one can be made in seconds.

Commenter's results: Spent probably roughly one minute making about 2 or 3 comments total. No one knows who he is so no one's opinion of him has changed. Has proven why a fake FB account's anonymity is useful (kept his real name and face from being printed onto Tshirts and mugs by someone he doesn't personally know on the internet). His foresight disproves this thread's OP's discription of him being an idiot.

Pretty sure Maddox is the loser. The other guy isn't "sad" for having proven why being anonymous is useful.

What I thought so too - Maddox fans are in denial and kept controlling the damage especially in the moment when the other poster was luring him (if that was ever the case).

In any case it is feeding Maddox attention.

On forums no, on facebook, its fucking weird, and kind of sad. I post stuff on my facebook page with a real name, I say shit to people irl with a real face. I guess it gives an outlet to the more passive aggressive person though, probably better that than another Columbine.

edit: in my 30 years, I've never made a "joke" account. :P

What's so wrong about a joke FB account? I've made a few, and so have my friends to just screw with each other and play pranks. It wouldn't be nearly as funny if we did it irl or using our real names.

For every 1 time you get a weird creeper in a disney thread defending watching iCarly, there are about 100 times where someone just wants to be an ass because they perceive that they hold a correct or popular opinion.

and there are much better ways of dealing with people who defend weird shit than to go "nyeheheheh defense forrrrce!"

Why is everyone calling this maddox' downfall? Did something else happen in the past where he goofed up bad?

Because they're whippersnappers who don't know what they're talking about.

Maddox is only "not relevant" if you're part of the illiterate mass residing in the gutters of facebook and youtube.

I've been on the internet since the 70s and in these 21 years of my life I had not, until now, been made aware of Maddox's existence.

1979 + 21 = 2000.

I remember something about people sending him faxes until his ink ran out, sending packages of dildos and lube.

And he wanted to go incognito, why did he ignite the internet flame again? Has he not learned that his opinion is harmful to his well-being?

His "opinion" has been extremely helpful to his well being. Idiots who don't recognize satire when they see it are part of the joke.

How do people not know maddox, he was pretty mainstream wayyy back in the day. Then he disappeared for many years.

What are you talking about?
His site has been in the same place it has for 15 years, he never "disappeared" or went "incognito". He doesn't update the site with rants as often as he used to because he's been writing books and working on other projects.

So there is this program called Photo Shop where you can make it look like you made T-Shirts and Mugs ( or anything really), but it's not real it's like only a picture. It's crazy I know, but true.

Yes Maddox defense force assemble. Show me on the doll where the bad man touched you.

It's kinda like missing The Amazing Atheist.

You hear a lot of hooting, look and then say "Oh." Then you continue on with your life completely unenriched.

Why do people here hate Maddox so much? What has he done to offend you so much? Make fun of your kid's crayon drawing?
Cuz its not 1996 anymore I used to find him funny but I was in 6th grade

BTW I have no concept of time. Felt like 96 at least. I am 27.

Anyway, so my take is that Maddox's "Cony 2012" revenge troll was really funny, but then his reaction to being reversed trolled and trying to squirm out of it was just pathetic.

Ups and downs, eh?

My reaction was, lol maddox trying to be popular again smh, when the troll account came forward is when shit got gold. He failed hard and then got all try hard and pathetic.

lol @ maddox scrambling to save face:

How the fallen have fallen.

Genuinely surprised there are internet veterans who've never heard of Maddox. I thought he was just one of those internet phenomena that you just knew.

Well in his slight defence, he didn't actually make t-shirts and mugs. That's a program that superimposes any image you want onto virtual merchandise. Once you pay, then the merch will get made. I don't think he did anything more than upload a picture and make up some funny phrases.

ITT: People explain why making a fake Facebook account of the opposite sex is somehow not pathetic.

I agree.

As much as I like Maddox, sadly the fake girl is right.

This is the Internet bitch. No one gives a fucl about permission.

Did you find his/her secret twitter account yet?
