Mafia: Trilogy announced

Trilogy re-release, no word yet on what to expect from it

2K's trilogy of Mafia games are getting a re-release via a package called, fittingly, Mafia Trilogy.

Today's brief teaser doesn't tell us much other than the trilogy's new platforms - PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Stadia - and to expect more details next week, on Tuesday 19th May.

There's no official word yet on what to expect from the trilogy, though fan hopes are high for Mafia 2 to get the remaster treatment. For now, here's the teaser:

Mafia 1 and 2 were incredible

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Is the first clip from the first game? Looks like a full remake? Would be nice to have Mafia 2 visuals/polish with Mafia 1 story & gameplay...

The rest I don't care for, Mafia 2 looks great already (unless they polish some of its more gamey elements, especially in the dlc chapters, with big pointer arrows and crap, but I doubt it) and Mafia 3 I didn't like :d

Great news. I didn't expect them to remake the first game. I wonder how they have done it? Have they changed the gameplay?

Remake or remaster?

Just a HD remaster according to this.

Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 must be a HD remaster! But that teaser at the start feels like a complete new version of Mafia 1!

I don't need 2 or 3 remaster! But if they make Mafia 1 Remake that will be my day one for sure! <3

That's the best game in my opinion.

Looking for forward to Tuesday, May 19th for more details. I am gonna guess some of you are right, Mafia 1 more of a remake, 2 and 3 visual upgrades (I know 3 is pretty recent, but maybe a little love here or there)

Fuck yes! I never managed to finish Mafia 2 due to a game-breaking bug mid game (the polygonal black stutter monster if anyone is familiar) and Mafia 1 was such a loooong time ago. Mafia 3 straight to the bin.

Hopefully, the games will be sold separately digitally as I played Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 back when they launched so no interest in playing them again but I never played the original so if it's fully redone or remastered, might give that a shot.

That Mafia II: Definitive Edition might be coming next week. It says that the release date is 5/19/2020 on Microsoft store. The description implies that the other two are coming later:

Only played Mafia 2 and loved it, dunno it needs to be remade it's not even that old. Would rather get a new Mafia game that unlike Mafia 3 IS ABOUT PEOPLE IN THE MOTHERFUCKING MAFIA...... i guess they fucked up so bad with 3 they're afraid to make new material?

UPDATE 4.45pm UK: One final update, as it looks like Mafia 2's new version will arrive as soon as next week.

Mafia 2 Definitive Edition - whose upgrade looks less striking than that coming to Mafia 1 in August - has also just been revealed via a Microsoft Store listing. It will feature all DLC content and is described as a "remaster" rather than a remake.

It is apparently set for launch next week, on 19th May.
