Seriously, I've seen the movie a bunch of times before -- a couple of years ago last time -- and I'm watching it on the telly right now. It's mindblowingly good. The music, the story. There's not a dull moment in this movie. Either you're laughing or your choking on some of the more sad parts.

I can't believe that my first time watching was in 2006. Why the fuck did I wait this long to watch it?? :(
 
I love how they made the story of the life of a retard feel so epic. :) Great movie.
 
It's like The Alchemist of movies, I'm thinking. Less spiritual, though. But to some extent the same sentiment; with the main character going after dreams and all.
 
I tried watching this last summer. When his mom is dying, and when Jenny dies... man. It didn't really bother me much before, but now it just reminds me of my dead mom, and sheesh. Pretty rough stuff.

It certainly is a heartwarming tale. Screw the impossibility of it all, it's still very charming. This is only really hated on by cold hearted bastards!

I'd seen bits and pieces before but I saw the entire movie on TNT one day. One of the best movies ever. Saving Private Ryan came on right afterwards and I hadn't seen that either. Best 4-ish hours of my life.
 
I'm on the verge of saying "best movie ever" too. I mean, sure, there are a lots of other movies which have had bigger impacts on movie making and etc, but none of them has such an impression on me.

Yeah, I've heard friends who normally never would admit crying saying that they got really choked up while watching Forrest Gump.

Yes, it was awesome awesome awesome. My friend told me on the day everyone was moving out of a college dorm, Forrest Gump was playing in the main lobby...and people would stop and watch...then trickle in...until finally boxes were piled up in the lobby as everyone packed around the big screen. :lol
 
My friends give me grief for thinking this is the best movie of all time.... and that's not a hyperbole.

I've seen the movie dozens of times, and I still enjoy watching it. Great acting, plot, cinematic, direction, and sound. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
 
i saw this in theaters way back in the day and probably a good 10 times on tv since... to this day i dont understand why people cry over this movie. it's not sad.... fuck i was happy when the crack whore died, stupid bitch was nothing but trouble for forest.
 
When he see Little Forrest for the first time and say to Jenny "Is he intelligent?" or something like this... I cried.

The people that are saying shawshank deserved the oscar over gump are the same people that didn't even knew it was released in 94.

Yeah Forrest Gump is awesome, Castaway is also another awesome Tom Hanks movie...........and Saving Private Ryan............... and Apollo 13.......... Tom Hanks is awesome.

Shawshank is an INCREDIBLE movie and deserves every accolade it gets.

It does, its on my top ten list of all time movies, but you can't take it away from gump either just because it overshadowed it.
 
Im not taking away from either of them, buy both and watch em, they are a couple of titles that should be in everyones collection, they are in mine. :D
