Why would you do that? said:Even though I disagree with him in that those games (specifically Spirit Tracks) are horrible, I agree with him in that, for someone getting back into the series, maybe he shouldn't play those games immediately.
But the PH/ST argument was already heavily argued in the past, so I won't get into my opinion here. But since it is fairly unpopular in the Zelda crowd, it wouldn't be the best game to play for the first time.
Spirit Tracks is a step back in the right direction though. I have more respect for that game that Phantom Hourglass (click the link for the lines I draw in the sand here).
It's just as a Zelda fan veteran, they were such colossal step backs as far as I'm concerned there's no viable argument that could excuse how much they crippled in the name of making it easy for casuals. The whole philosophy of the design seems positively informed by it at every level.
Spirit Tracks seems to realize it had to provide a better mix, so dungeon design specifically improves (as does difficulty) so it was more enjoyable. But they had to go and fuck up overworld exploration with the trains.

I assume he has a GCN, but if the only reason he's getting a Wii this late in the cycle is to play Skyward Sword you might as well save yourself money, no?
Back on topic specifically...
I made this one FLIPNOTE studio animation once of Zelda taking out his sword and accidentally skewering Kirby and then roasting Kirby over a fire like a marshmallow but I deleted it by accident
