The rollerskating episode made me love Bryan Cranston forever and is still one of my favorite things to ever happen on TV.

It's so consistent. The later seasons are absolutely just as good as the earlier ones, that's what makes it great.

Quick, which do you guys prefer, older or younger Dewey?

This show helped me realize how much I hate laugh tracks. After watching a great comedy without them, I could never go back.

Younger Dewey, easily.

The Malcom playing The Virts subplot is probably my favorite thing from the entire show. The line about his avatar sneaking scotch from the toilet tank still cracks me up whenever I think of it. The only parts of the show that ever dragged for me were the Francis stories after he left military school.

I always thought it was good, but watching it now that I'm older, I think the show has aged amazingly well. Season 3 in particular is really fantastic.

Between this and the outdated 2012 thread I'm finally gonna watch it on Netflix. I don't think I ever watched because I lived on Nickelodeon and thought Frankie Nunez was weird.

Oh and I gotta see pre-meth kingpin Bryan Cranston.

What's the funniest moment in the series for you dudes?

I really love the one where Hal goes to his car and goes batshit insane, screaming why (Lois is pregnant) while Malcolm is like wtf on the back seat. Shit makes my lungs hurt every damn time I see it.

you should quit smoking

Probably the best comedy ever. It had some rough patches but never became bad. I've just checked and they're finally started releasing them in DVD in the UK, looks like I have some money to spend.

I pretty much watched the whole show last summer, it was thoroughly enjoyable, and still go back to watch it sometimes.

i really enjoyed watching it again on netflix up until the season where the new kid is born. than it started to suck for me. still, there were a ton of great episodes before that.

Seriously? I've been waiting forever. I could've imported the first season, but was so put off about the decision to discontinue releasing them. They had issues with licencing some of the music, I believe.

I'm still finishing watching this series again after years of not doing so, and it's so consistently good. The later seasons still make me laugh like the first seasons. Love the characters on the show.

Hal is truly the best character on the show. One of my favorite moments from rewatching it is when he and Reese bond over watching scary movies and Hal can't seem to handle them and is having nightmares and a hard time dealing with the fear in daylight. He is in the kitchen and Malcolm walks in to ask him a question and he turns around so quick and scared with a knife and points it at Malcolm :lol :lol

The newer episodes were pretty good, when everything had been refined over the years and people were clearly characterized. Seeing Reese so young is just weird, and the show had an old feel to it early on, like they were filming with inferior equipment.

My favorite episode is when Hal is on house arrest for allegedly doing something, but gets someone to jimmy him a backpack to allow him to go to the library to meet someone with evidence that would clear him, with a proximity transmitter in the backpack keeping his ankle monitor dormant. Somehow he gets separated from the backpack; the police show up thinking it's a bomb and cordon off the area. Hal pretends to be from the bomb squad and goes to defuse it, then yells that it's going to explode in 5 seconds. He describes himself curling up around the bomb to save everyone while counting down from 5, and tells them to look away. After zero, nothing happens, and the cops look back to see nothing since Hal just ran away. I think it was a two-parter, and the whole thing was really good.

The finale was also good. Not in a funny way just like the rest of the show (I rarely laughed, it was just fun seeing the shit they got into), but it totally fit the characters and where they were going in their lives. Not a lot of endings for long-running series are that satisfying.

It was definitely a great show, but after so many episodes demonstrating how shitty their lives are, I kind of got tired of it. There has to be some light at the end of the tunnel. It's the same reason that I can only enjoy It's Always Sunny in Philly for only a few eps at a time.

I hazily remember the episode where (dewey?) watches Hal and Louis have a big fight being remarkably touching.

Before this GIF, I never made the connection that the dad from Malcom in the Middle was Walter from Breaking Bad. Holy...

Break Bad is a prequel to Malcolm in the Middle.

He goes from the hardcore drug dealer / maker to suburban house dad when he joins the witness protection program.

Some episodes really got that prime-Simpsons effect going. I can watch them over and over and over again, never gets dull.

It's a great show, never saw the ending though. Shame Frankie Muniz was the star, he's tolerable enough I suppose but his character really was the worst.

I cant stand Malcolm's face. Its one of those punchable faces. But thats the effin point. He's supposed to be an unlikeable know-it-all. The casting is spot effing on, but not by the grace of Frankie's acting, but by his naturally PUNCHABLE FACE.

GODDAMMIT I LOVE THIS SHOW BUT HATE THE MAIN CHARACTER.

Hal being pressured to buy a Porsche was the funniest scene in all of TV.

Close behind are:
Hal getting into DDR.
Fucking Hal in everything.

The episode with Hal and the bodybuilders was so good.

Why don't they release a complete blu-ray set? Would buy.

The show had the best side characters of any sitcom besides Seinfeld. It's pretty amazing how memorable every single character BESIDES the main character is.

Malcolm himself is a little shit.

Great series. During December I watched the whole series on Netflix because there are no DVD version of the show.

The show gets a little worse in the final two seasons with less Francis, poor continuity (same with Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), and some decisions don't make sense like Stewie's mom coming back.

I think of my favorite, if not my favorite, scene in the entire show is in the series finale when Lois tells Malcolm that he's supposed to be president. Haha.

I always loved the story arc where Hal's workplace gets caught up in a huge fraud case and they all try to lay the blame on him. Then, in the final episode, it's revealed that all the stuff they're accusing him of happened on a Friday and he explains that he's never been to work on a Friday in all the time he's worked there because he plays hookey.

The show is called Malcolm in the Middle not Malcom in the Middle.

As someone with the name Malcolm this annoys the hell out of me.
