were those spotters really expecting to catch it if he dropped that

i mean really

They can hold it for long enough for the dude to bail out. That or their extra strength could make the load lighter for the guy to lift back up.

Is it true that many of these powerlifters get massive heart problems later in life or is that a myth?

I love how he is not more ripped than he is. I bet he needs that "gut" to support all his muscle. I probably wouldn't be nearly as strong had he had a Bodyfat of 8% right?

It reminds of Fedor when he reigned supreme for 10 years in MMA. He was kinda husky (not fat) and he looked so out of shape. But his conditioning was out of this world and he just ran through all these superhero physiqued guys with crazy large muscles.

It really might just speak to the fact that doing isolation exercises in a gym to get more volume in musclegrounds is not the same thing at all as being powerful like these guys?

Or am I completely off track here?

The big guys in the open weight class tend to carry more fat just because they have no incentive to stay ripped. Lifters (or any kind of athlete) competing in strict weight classes will want to make sure their body composition is as much muscle and as little fat as possible, but when you don't have to worry about making weight for a competition you can just bulk all year round with reckless abandon. A big ol' gut doesn't necessarily help move the weights, it's just a side effect of cramming thousands of calories down his cakehole all day to grow beeg and stronk.

Basically, the time it'd take to diet back down to a ripped level of bodyfat would be much better spent eating, lifting and repeating when the goal of your sport is solely to move the heaviest weight.

Is there any drug testing in the organization that he competes in?

Impressive either way.

I don't think so, besides everyone of these records has been impacted PEDs. Also since a few of these records like the previous record holder are Russian you wouldn't really want to start applying any policies. Due to Russia being know cheaters and recently has been suspended from world competitions due to the extent of their cheating. At this point you just let them do it and hope that they are at least getting some proper medical advice.

He could actually win, you can be the biggest dude ever that doesn't automatically mean you would be a good fighter. There are plenty of super buff dudes that have no technique what so ever when it comes to fighting.

That's true but it also gets to a point where there's such a huge difference in reach, strength and weight (a normal human being would be a third to half of this guy's weight for example) that it'd be incredibly hard to make up for the difference using skill.

Which is what makes Mariusz Pudzianowski such an insane freak, dude had a bodybuilder and powerlifter physique, at the same time. Amazing bench press clip OP. Also, that old school Korn playing at the Gym during his 5 reps was pretty nostalgic.

The only real difference is BF percentage. Also BB use site enhancement--synthol to bring up biceps and such.

Pudz might too.

But here's a long time powerlifter, who just dieted down to lower BF levels.

Also, BB do not look like that all year round. It's not sustainable at all. It wreaks havoc on your hormones. These are targeted diets, many very dangerous since they also tend to use diuretics, for shows and photoshoots.

What does a dude this strong even fear? That was like my first thought, he could probably pile drive a T Rex.

Funny you post that...

Kirill competed at CAPO while he was injured, but still managed to hit a 600 Lb bench. According to Brandon Lilly, Kirill was stabbed 3 weeks prior to CAPO in his lower ribs. He suffered from a major infection and lost 30 Kg of bodyweight prior to the competition. After his opening attempt his wound started bleeding through his shirt, but he did not want to give up. Even after being encouraged to stop, he said “I cannot disrespect them and quit” (referring to his fellow lifters). We wish you a strong and quick recovery Kirill!
