Not sure if serious.
Dead serious.

I love how this has not turned into lets post gross spiders because the OP did not use the word spider in the title.

Good job.

I had a waking dream (think that's what you call it) where I was half asleep, opened my eyes, and I'm guessing it had something to do with the blood vessels in my eye or something but saw a spider the head hanging above me, most terrified I've ever been, and it wasn't even real. Funny thing is i don't even mind spiders....

I am trying not to let spiders freak me out, but if i saw one in my bed, real or not, i would panic so hard that i wouldn't be able to control myself :D

I don't get why most of the time, spider's almost never release the Final Poison. You're getting crushed in someone's shoe, you're gonna die. Why not release everything you have so you can near instantly kill whatever it is that's attacking you, regardless of size. The chance of getting bitten with the Final Poison is like 1/10000 bites.

wtf is final poison...

on anything the size of the spider its super potent. and in humans its still a very serious condition but it takes longer to circulate and affect nerve and muscle tissue.

One bite actually isn't that serious, actually.

Edit: But 19? I'm surprised his lungs didn't shut down after teh second bite

From a Black Widow? One bite means time for the hospital!

I read it a bio book of mine a while ago. A full grown, healthy man should be able to stave off ONE bite. But why one would want to ride out the symptoms is beyond me.

I wonder what wikipedia has to say about this:

The female black widow's bite is particularly harmful to humans because of its unusually large venom glands; however, Latrodectus bites rarely kill human beings.

Addendum...Unless your bitten 19 Fucking times and think I'll Deal With It at a later time, need to go Ly Down.

I got bitten by a spider hidden in one of my sock. I only had my sock on for about 5 minutes when I felt a stinging pain and immediately took it off put my hand in there and out came a spider. I felt a little dizziness but it was nothing major. Glad it wasn't a black widow.
BRB, going to burn all my socks.

geeeez. I understand that black widow spider bites are USUALLY not fatal for adults with reasonable medical treatment in a day or so but good god.

How the fuck do you get bitten 19 times? You think after the 8th time you might try smacking the thing away but apparently not for this guy.
Looks like a pretty fat foot. He probably wasn't able to.

Damn, that's terrible. Shit, I opened the front door today to check the mail and what scurried in the porch: a black widow. I jumped back in the house, grabbed a broom and smashed it. I've been seeing more and more of em lately. Thanks, Florida...

A man from Erie, Colo. died after getting bitten by a black widow spider. Health experts say it's a rare for someone to die from black widow bites.

Jeff Seale, 40, noticed 19 bites on his foot two weeks before he died. His sister says he worked at a horse stable, and she wonders if that's where her brother might've encountered the spider.

Seale was an accomplished baseball player when he was younger.

The Fairview High School baseball team in Boulder is practicing this week for a tournament they are hosting, and even though many of them had never met Jeff Seale, they knew of his legacy.

“When you assess that type of tradition, you definitely look up to him," says Brian Sture, a graduating senior.

In the late 1980s, Seale was one of the best pitchers, not only for Fairview, but in Boulder County. He was drafted by the Mets, and he also played for the University of Texas.

When his baseball career ended, he settled back in Boulder County.

Seale died last week, just a couple of weeks after he noticed a spider bit him.

The Boulder County Coroner's Office says it could be 4-6 weeks before an official cause of death is released.

"It's just hard to accept," says Rick Harig, head baseball coach for Fairview and one of Seale's former coaches in the 80s.

Funeral services are pending.

In the meantime, the Fairview baseball team hopes to win its second consecutive tournament, which it has dedicated to Jeff Seale.
After he noticed it bit him? It bit him 19 times. It's slightly implausible that if he had gotten bitten while working at a horse stable, he would have had socks and shoes/boots on. A spider isn't likely able to crawl all the way in there, so it would have had to been in the shoe or sock already if that indeed was when/where he was bit. You aren't going to go to the hospital after a black widow bites you 19 times? Let's take pictures of it instead!

Seems like going to the hospital was too much of a hassle. Plus, he probably reads spiderman, and figured 'hey, Peter Parker didn't go the hospital, even when he was having his crazy fever/delusions/aches, so why should I? Think I'm just gonna wait it out, play some Killzone in the mornin' and eat some wheaties. Probably be okay by then'

R.I.P.- and I in no way feel sorry for either him or his family. HE GOT BITTEN 19 TIMES. BY A BLACK WIDOW SPIDER!! COME ON MAN, REALLY?.

well in fairness to him the spider probably ran out of venom after the first few bites, they DO need to recharge it at some point. Please note: This should not be read as my DEFENDING the idiot.

This is my absolute worse fear. Fuuuuuck. So if you get bit 19 times and get to the hospital you're alright?

Edit: Read the article a bit better. I feel a lot less phobic now. Phew.

Lets put it this way: This is the first person in 10 years to die from a Black Widow in the US. Before antivenom, fatality was 5%. Dude was a straight up dumbshit.

Can I buy insurance to make sure my death doesn't become a NeoGAF thread? I'd hate to be this guy and then see this thread on GhostGAF, it would probably be worse than the pain he felt during death.

Sounds like the sorta thing my dad would do.

Every time he's broken something or had some sort of severe allergic reaction, he would basically sit on the couch with his arms crossed and hope his anger makes it better. Someone would end up having to drag him off to the hospital eventually.

I remember encountering either a red back or black widow in my garage (can't remember because I have arachnophobia and avoid all spider pics) when I was young. I slipped on our dusty garage floor and right below me, ~30cm away from my face was this enormous spider, chilling out. I fled, screaming like a maniac. That experience, along with another encounter with a Tarantula, have left me scared for life :(

Australian + Arachnophobia is a bad bad mix.

I understand not going to the doctors when you get a cold but 19 god damn spider bites?

Dieing was worth it for being known as the man who didn't need no doctors I guess.

:lol at all the pictures posted. Need the story of north America though I think.
