Interesting enough the other shot in the gif shows a medal or I think it's supposed to be a key? You see him wearing it around his neck in some scenes. Probably is given to him by Johnathan Kent when he shows young Clark the ship and perhaps something is activated calling him there? Can't be a coincidence Clark is saving people and fishing in the arctic...
Really dig the new Fortress idea, especially after putting up with the crystal version for damn long in the movies, Smallville, videogames and comics.
This has already been explained in an interview.
Kryptonians have been to Earth before. His Fortress of Solitude is a vessel previously left behind by one of his people. It's also where he finds the suit.

I really have gotten pretty acclimated to the costume changes. Watched Superman: The Movie last night for the 75th anniversary - it was kinda weird to see him with that shiny vinyl belt and the bright red drawers on. I mean, I got used to it again, but at first, I was like "Whoa. Oh yeah. That's right."

Did the director just copy the same shot from Superman 1 & 2? Because it looks identical to the shot from the original movies, just with a new background and fourth guy in the shot.

I hope this scene is meant to be comical, like the audience is supposed to laugh at Zod, because it's some really over the top delivery.

It's supposed to be evocative, but it's not a copy at all. They're spread way farther apart, Zod isn't at the center, they're cuffed, the background is different.. there's a ton of differences between the two scenes. It's a similar scenario, and if you're familiar w/ Donner's film, I'm sure you'll recognize that similarity, but it's definitely not a copy.
And without any context as to why he's screaming like that, I don't know if it's fair to judge if he's actually going "over the top" just yet.

Sweet jesus people, calm down. Superman wore the undies for 70+ years, obviously there's a lot of people who identify that with part of Superman's look.
Plus, it's a movie about a overpowered god-alien in a goofy costume. If red strongman underpants are what throw you over the edge then gtfo.

I hear you, and see what you are saying. But after this newest trailer it seems to me that there are so many similarities between the original movies and this one. I thought for sure this was going to be completely new in terms of a movie. Maybe this trailer just focuses on the similarities between the first two movies and the new one. Hope I am wrong.

Nope. The Nu52 suit is my favorite redesign.
I'm a fan of the classic Superman design. I can't pinpoint why, but there's something "classic" about it that I just think is cool.
