Why are everyone speculating about the plot? I thought it was confirmed that it will revolve around Clark's life before he decides to become Superman.

Not entirely true. The script going around a few months ago presents Clark
travelling, working different jobs, trying to find a place and then decides to go work in Metropolis where he starts off as a delivery man. But he begins to use his abilities and Superman is introduced to the world
. So you're only part correct from what I know

Needs more shirtless boys on fire

For most people Superman is too powerfull.
We are wired to cheer for the underdog ... hard for superman to be the underdog when he can take a bullet close ranged to the eye and the bullet get smashed =P

Because of that, it is really hard for writers to write an interesting Superman story ... wich is why the stories were he is less powerfull (like All Star Superman) or were he is not exactly the hero (like ... Red Son... i guess) are fan favorites

whatever happened to the man of tomorrow is full powered Superman, and as a fantasy super-hero you just give him bigger and more creative threats. nobody wants to see aloser on screen or in comics.

General public don't know about Prep Time Batman =P
where he gets
some kind of cancer
?

He has some kind of ....mortability that makes him look less powerfull
He gets way stronger before he goes walkabout, because he Gokuh'd too much energy.

I think you're agreeing with me, but I can't tell.

I am, I do this thing where I argue with my previous statements in my own words. Read the last half as if someone was remarking against the first half.

Superman is a symbol of hope. He is the shining example of what we should all aspire to be, something greater than who we are.

Conversely, Batman is the symbol of bravery in the face of doubt. Against all odds, you must be strong and brave, to fight against the evils of the world as they close in on you.

EDIT: About the plot, yeah I thought it was semi based on Superman: Birthright? Where he tries to find himself before settling into Metropolis?

Bullshit.

The Schumacher films killed off any goodwill the general public had for Batman films.

Everyone wanted spider-man and what not.

Horseshit.

The general public is always willing to go watch a Batman film as long as it's not overdone. Batman Forever actually had a larger domestic gross than Batman Returns. However by the time Batman and Robin was released it was being overdone. 5 films in 8 years and the 3rd actor to play Batman. Of course Schumacher's shit quality did not help but the general audience was getting Batman overkill at that point.

I think seven years later we're due for a Superman reboot. This time though, I have faith it will be better. Superman needs action. You need to see how powerful he is, and his struggles against those who are powerful, to protect those around him without destroying everything.

Which is why a movie about Doomsday would be SO powerful. If you wrote it right, you could give the audience Supes' emotions about not wanting everything to be destroyed, people dying right and left from their titanic battle, Superman just trying to play the game his way and he really can't. Cut to the near end scene, people have been evacuated, and John Henry calls out to Superman "Superman... there's no one left in this area. Let go. Fight for truth and justice!" And then you have this sick ass full on brawl until they both die from it. It would be fucking awesome.

Captain America shoots people.

That alone makes him more American than Superman will ever be.

That's basically what I just said.

That looked fucking great. I've never seen a Superman movie but that simply looked outstandfingly tight

Isn't this the one where he gets

Well, in general, you should know what you're talking about BEFORE you open your mouth (figurative, or otherwise).

And yes and no. In All-Star Superman, his cells are super-charged with solar radiation, this has 2 effects:

First, his body is breaking apart from the inside, since it can't absorb that much energy

Second, His power level is like off the scales.

This does have the effect of giving him a countdown timer to do all the things he wants to do before he leaves the earth, but it does not significantly power him down for most of the story. It is really just a very well built Superman story.

You should really read it, or at least watch the movie. It is very good.

Superman Begins, he seeks the means to fight injustice etc. My guess is basically Superman will be moping around doing random stuff until he decides to become Superman.

I love how DC is going the serious route with their characters. This style is so much more up my alley than the fantastical route Marvel has gone. The villains........sooooo good. Zod, Luthor, Brainiac; whoever they end up going with is going to be awesome.

love Costner, but that Crowe narration is the better one.

the music works and is only a problem for the people that live off the LOTR soundtrack and know if only as that.

also, for those who do know, what IS the name of that song?

Its the second part of Bridge of Khazad-Dum, after Gandalfs fall in Moria

You could definitely get a sense when i went to see it the crowd is expecting it to be the next big trilogy now that Batman finished. Doesnt hurt to have Christopher Nolan putting his name on it. And Zack can make some damn fine movies.
