Now if only we could get a HQ version of the comic con footage.

It's great to finally see this in HD. We can start to get a feel for the visual style, something you can't really get with blurry phone footage.

I need that HD comic con trailer. No reason to hold it back now.

This trailer is obviously trying to emulate the first Batman begins teaser:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCVeCVVi6mQ

But it just comes across the same way the first superman returns teaser is. Its the same old kansas farm and a little kid playing around while Jor El Narrates that he will become a great man someday and in the last 2 seconds they just show superman fly into space. They market him all wrong. Superman already has a stigma attached that he's boring so they need a dynamic teaser out of the gate similar to the Spider Man world trade center teaser.

I don't think WB will ever release that footage as a whole. That was exclusive for the fans they went to Comic Con. It's likely the full trailer will be something separate but may include some scenes from the CC trailer

this trailer was SO fucking good. like unbelievably good. I'm almost afraid to watch the movie because it can't possibly top how perfect this teaser was. and goddamnit, using Gandalf's death was so emotionally manipulative but it worked. man tears :'(

I want to make a "people died after that" joke.

They need to show Superman PUNCH something. Seriously. It's tragic that the most interesting challenge Superman faced in Returns was a falling plane.

Not to be a buzz-kill, but some of you need to remember that Nolan has been "hands-off" with The Man of Steel for almost a year now - since he's been focusing on TDKR. He helped get it going, but its likely the majority of what we've seen thus far is all Snyder. Hell Nolan has even said that Snyder is the sole creative force on the film, its not a collaboration.

His influence is obvious, but its not like Nolan has been standing over Snyder's shoulder at every turn.

Nor should he have been. Limit Snyder from going overboard, but let him do his own thing. If he's been reigned in enough, then the job is done.

A man that can fly and has super strength flying through explosions, maybe punching things? Audiences have seen that countless times on the big screen already with other characters.

They need to show Superman PUNCH something.

Oh please

Zack directing action scenes, Nolan&Goyer creating story and characters -> Awesome, just imagine it the other way around and you start crying.

He's terrible at it, weightless, emotionless, overuse of slow-mo.

He does it a lot but he still sucks at it.

Oh please

One of my biggest problems with Superman Returns was the lack of a real physical challenge to Superman. Even walking out of the theater I heard several people shouting about Doomsday. It's not because they think Doomsday is some great villain. It's because seeing Superman stop things from falling, or pick up heavy things, just isn't entertaining.

Show him punch something. That would at least let the audience know that this film will at least give Supes a decent confrontation.

Why punch, just show him throwing his crest so that it expands and wraps around the baddie.

Superman definitely needs to show some new tricks, at this point he seems to have a more limited move set than Super Mario as far as films are concerned. In the animated shows they had more freedom to show him doing interesting things.

that is EXACTLY my problem with it.

Why would a kid that lives in a world withotu superman (and therefore caped superheroes) would do this ?

Or Superman was a fan of Captain Marvel when growing up ? xD

It's a teaser. That scene probably won't even be in the movie, in addition to the rest of the non-Cavill/boat scenes.

I dont' think that was supposed to be young Clark playing around with a cape on. The narration gives that much away, and the way it was shot looked different than the rest of the more obvious movie scenes. I think that was just fluffer thrown in to make the teaser.

the idea to wear it in the first place had to stem from something. he liked wearing it as a kid, so he wore it as an adult. and theres probably justification for why he wore it as a kid too.

Sad when you think they have hundreds of millions of dollars, but they limited it to Lex all the fucking time.

Well, there's the going theory that the shot featuring the kid with the cape
is from near the end of the film
.

They should do Lex the way ASM did Osborn. Have other characters talk about him. Have the LexCorp building in the Metropolis skyline. Basically, have his presence felt, but don't necessarily have him in the movie.

Now what about Flash or Wonder Woman?
Whoa there. Let's see if they can get Supes in order first. :p

Even him running for governor or as some sort of political figure leading the anti-superman angle. Just hear about him via news reports/media without him actually being a prominent presence in this film.

as terrible as the show was, the Lex/Clark relationship in Smallville was an interesting take. Don't know how feasible that would be here though.

That Crowe teaser is great. Been watching the news all day and I could really use a feel good Superman movie right about now. :\

:'(

I cant wait to see thier take on Zod and how he fits in to this universe. They've not mentioned much about the villians at all come to think of it.

yeah I like both of those ideas. Lex/Clark works best as this kind of duality, these mirror images, I think and that was one of the few (if only) things the show did right.

one thing's for sure. no more fucking real estate plots!

Zack Snyder is honestly a good director. His films are only as good as the stories written for them. Hopefully Nolan has written a great story here because, from the looks of it, it seems as though Snyder has done a good job so far.

Anyone get any great audience reactions to the trailer when you went to see batman?

when it said, "from zack snyder..." my sister said out loud, 'oh no.'

then when it ended, one person in the back gave a single clap.

it didnt seem like people were too enthused and i was at a midnight showing for dark knight rises.

I'm sure the scene will make sense when we see it. Superman was not the first caped hero.

Luthor should not be the main villain in the movie (and thankfully he's not) but I think he needs to be there...in some brief 15 second scene or whatever.

I hope whoever they cast as lex looks a lot like the one from the animated series. He actually looked a competent complex character that worked hard to be who has become, rather than just an invidious man from a privileged background.

Holy shit that's great. :D

And Crowe is sporting a god-tier voice. Sounded fantastic.

Don't fuck this up Snyder!

Speaking of Cavill.

Cavill auditioned for the lead role in Batman Begins (2005), but lost out to Christian Bale. In 2005, he became a young contender for the role of James Bond in Casino Royale (2006), and performed in a final screen test. However, the producers believed Cavill was too young for the role, which then went to Daniel Craig. He also auditioned for the role of Superman in Superman Returns (2006), and was reportedly under heavy consideration before the October 2004 casting of Brandon Routh. Due to all this, in the December 2005 edition of Empire Magazine, he was dubbed "...the most unlucky man in Hollywood".

Poor guy.

the two minute comic con footage would have been more effective. Trying to sell Superman on his symbol and the brief glimpse is going the returns route all over again. The TV spots for Returns tried to emphasize on action too late in the game. Anyway Warner needed this to be made and anything over 500 mill WW will be considered a success.

Denzil Washington would be my pick for Lex, it would be a potential genius casting choice. He is great at being a bastard as well as Training Day proved.

The teaser trailer is awesome. Obviously I like the down-to-earth, gritty workman Clark more than the eventual paragon of humanity.

I've followed Cavill's career pretty closely and it still boggles my mind that somebody thought Routh was a better Superman than he. However, in the long run, this might very well work to his advantage.
