Ty for this!

I'm trying to picture the trajectory. Unless he clipped it, I recon there won't be much of a penis anymore...

I've been told NOT to put it in the back. Sides only. Gun in the back means more chances of something bad happening if you sit by accident (plus, increased risk of getting it stolen).

I've heard it makes it SUPER easy to damage your spine if you fall backwards on it(hard object pressed against a small section of your spine with all your weight/force).

If he had bought an XD40 instead of a Glock, this wouldn't have happened.

Glocks are inherently more dangerous than other guns because they don't have any saftey other than the one on the trigger. For those that aren't familiar, there is a piece on the trigger that sticks out and if it's not depressed when the trigger is being pulled, the trigger will stop short of pulling back far enough to fire. This is the "safety" on the Glock and is the ONLY sort of safety on the weapon. Thing is, as long as your finger is on the trigger, that thing is most likely depressed. If you happen to reach in to pick it up out of a pocket and accidentally put your finger inside the trigger ring, you can definitely shoot your dick off.

Just about every other semi-automatic on the market has some other sort of safety mechanism. The XD line has a trigger safety and a palm safety (which is only going to be depressed if you're actually holding the firearm...and if you're depressing that AND the trigger safety, it's fair to assume you're intentionally doing it). Other firearms have a button or a switch that needs to be flipped.

These kind of accidents really only happen with revolvers that have light trigger pulls and Glocks because of the lack of any additional safety systems.

This is pretty much the most horrible title to a thread I've ever seen...

I can't imagine there's much of anything left of the poor chap's chap.

Yes it would have. In order to have his finger on the trigger he most likely had his palm pressing the backstrap, which would have allowed an XD to fire as well.

It's not the gun's fault, it's the person handling it.
