Train sucks, we know this. Songs like 50 Ways to Say Goodbye and Drive By are the vein of any mortal man's existence.

But they weren't always like that. I give you pre-2009 Train

Drops of Jupiter

When I look at the Sky

Cab

The transition to awfulness is probably one of the biggest bummers in music. I don't usually say artists sold out, but Train sold out hard.

Sounds so over-produced. Never been a fan. They're a prime example of the "whiny rock" that has taken over this millennium.

This is how I feel when I listen to their music.

CLUE: I'm the guy getting kicked in the head.

I own a bunch of their shit but they're pretty much the definition of white-bread. They're inoffensive, even agreeable. I don't know that anyone can feel particularly passionate about them.

I like Train well enough. Even with their nonsensical lyrics.

That's another thing that happened that led to their downfall. Somewhere along the way the lead singer decided he could "rap" or something (note the quotation marks)

Spoiler alert: He can't and the songs where he tries are some of the worst lyrics ever.

They were never great. At their best they were a mediocre band. They just went from mediocre to terrible.

Probably the best thing about them is they did a killer Led Zeppelin cover (of "Ramble On").

But I've never thought they were anywhere close to a great band.

.. Train? Train was always terrible. I still remember moving my sister from one apartment to another like 10+ years ago and that Drops of Jupiter song was played 4 or 5 times on the hour long drive and drive back.

I'll freely admit.. if Hey, Soul Sister comes on the radio in the car.. wife and kids all join in the sing-along.

I know it's cool to hate them.. but Train has done some catchy ass songs.

They were? When?

I mean, they aren't even like the Goo Goo Dolls, who had a couple decent punk/college rock albums out before they descended into radio friendly wuss rock. They started out as terrible wuss rock and never got better.

I've hated them since the moment they arrived on the scene. Their songs make my skin crawl and my blood boil.

One hit wonder.

Though it's a bit weird to see these immensely popular songs from the 90s have only a couple million views on Youtube while any random song from a current pop star has hundreds of millions.

of course they would be the type of band to host a cruise. Although now Paramore and Weezer are also doing that so I may have to evaluate what that means...

Yeah but my admin is 49 and she showed us the facebook page for it (middle aged n older folks)

Not exactly the maddecent boat party or holy ship!
