I've heard the name JoJo a lot but haven't bothered to look it up, although I admit I am kind of curious since--from what I can gather--it seems that the manga is famous/influential?

Is it good? A brief summary perhaps?
First, it is good. I can't say if its influential, but it has been ongoing since 1987 (Though in 2004 they "Ended" it with the 6th part, only to retcon a spin off reboot as cannon, so its still going!)

With it being over 700 chapters, its a bit hard to give a summery of it. The closest way I can think of describing it is the adventure of the Joestar Family line fighting various enemies with super natural abilities.

The series can be broken into 7 parts right now, with clear starts and ends, each with a different main character and cast, though with Part 3 taking place in the 1980's, parts 4, 5, and 6 have more recurring characters in them.

Part 1 wasn't that great, but Part 2 is fantastic and the rest of the series goes up and down between "pretty good" and "awesome", with the fact that the series has multiple parts allowing the author to keep the series fresh (Though parts 3 and 5 feel dragged on, while 4 feels like it was cut 2 years short)

It is also a bit notable for being the longest running manga in Jump to never get a normal Anime, although it has had an OVA of the 3rd part and a movie of the first part.

Here, maybe this image will give you an idea about the scale, This is from the first page of part 6. Er, don't read the text to much, spoilers and all that. Try and stay clear of the stuff on the left, look at the floating heads, and years on the right.:

(Also, I think Jorge is a mistranslation to try and add a Jo to there names, since earlier flow charts and all of part 1 called him George)

Its gonna be a tough sell for any of the other Joestars to top Joseph Joestar for me, that guy was as manly as fuck.
So far, start of part 6, they have all failed. So far, Jotaro still doesn't seem to really have a personality.

I am not feeling part three of the manga at all so far, which is funny since i liked the anime, i guess it have something to do with the fact that after witnessing the manliness of Joseph its hard to go back to less, Jotaro just doesn't matched up also i hate that they decided to nerf Joseph, i have yet see him say "you are going to say *insert enemies statement here* yet"

I still really want Croc to be WhiteBeard's son. They mentioned they WB 'might' have a child of his own hidden like Rogers and I think it would be a good explanation for what we haven't heard about the their connection. Maybe white wanted a family (crew) so much because he own family life didn't work out well.

I want it to turn out Croc has a hand under his hook, and its just for looks.

He only does it once all of part 3 :(

I think the big problem with part 3 is it just turns into a "Monster of the week" type of thing. Just tosses in fight after fight, with the characters they are fighting not really being important at all.

When did they say that?

Just finished reading "Apollos song" shit, why didn't i read osamu tezuka earlier. This was sooo good. Going read "adolf" next.

He was the best Jojo in the comics, and the strongest Jojo in the game. He also had the best Jojo fashion sense.

Sure, but Dio means God.
Oh, that reminds me, I hope part 7 remembers this line/it wasn't a mistranslation:

Take note of the "This Dio" part. I always figured that would of been something important.

Agreed and all counts that i can agree on (haven't played the game) but does this means its all downhill form here on? :(

Interesting so six appears to be the closes in awesomness to two, well we'll see when i get there.
I am going off of God Beards words for 6 and 7, as I have yet to finish them. But he did say 6 was up there with 2.

On a tangent, unless 6 proves me totally wrong, 5 is the only one you can skip with out missing anything, and you don't miss to much by skipping 4 ether (Why you would want to skip them is beyond me though, just an observation)

I think you need to pay attention to what's going on in SBR right now. Bit by bit, Johnny has become more of a man, and this latest RAW chapter stands to have him really have him come into his own now....

Too bad it seems that it might be the end for ol' boy Gyro...Zeppeli curse to finally claim him...?! T_T

Speaking of Croc's hook. I was always puzzled that they let him have it attached while he was in prison.

As far as I know it's how japanese fictional characters sometimes talk. But I could be wrong.

I'll dig. It was Sengoku when they reveled Ace. He said a line about there being a chance WB had his own child in the world. Looking now.
I checked the chapters and I can't find it. The only mention of Whitebeard having "sons" is in relation to his crew.

... I am starting part 6, why would I know what is going on with part 7?

I have no intention of skipping anything, so i am gonna see for myself what is what.

I know, just an observation that 5 really is the most isolated part in the series.

Hey, found anther scanlation group is (slowly) redoing part 4! Great to hear, since the version on onemanga in in Engresh.

Calling yourself "this (your name)" in Japanese is a sign of being really arrogant. Dio always talks that way because he is very full of himself.

Magical War chronicles, nanoha Force spoilers:

The Huckebein family is on borrowed time.
Hayates gone Gendo, nothing is safe.
She's going to remind everyone that her tome used to be called 'the book of darkness' and for good reason.

Bakuman translation is out. SleepyFans doesn't seem to have an official website so it's hard to tell if they've done their scan yet.

Crow and +Natural are doing a crossover.

All the websites shutting down sucks; the people who really aren't willing to pay for shit no matter what will still get the stuff on IRC or through other channels, and people who only are super casually into it aren't probably inclined to buy anything anyway and will just drop it altogether. I've found series and started picking them up that I otherwise never would have read (like Fairy Tail or Bleach). Most of the people I know will just flat out not buy anything because they're simply not that invested; they'll just stop reading it altogether and move on.

I completely understand why they're doing it and can't really fault them; but I don't see how in the long run it really benefits them financially, but maybe I'm wrong. Personally I'll just keep on top of US volume releases on the 5 or so series I'm already buying (whereas I was only buying 2 a year ago before picking up other stuff I found online), and that'll be it going forward for me. It's a damn shame all around. Assuming I'm not totally off-base and they don't find that their sales numbers are increasing to any extent, I wonder what their reaction will be.
Well if they bring up an online site with paid subscription, then they pretty much HAD to get rid of OM.

Still of course, the popularity of that depends on:
1. How much it costs to view JUST the lastest chapter every week of the very popular series'
2. Are you allowed to download, and what are the limitations
3. How up to date will it be regarding the licensed series'
4. If scanlation groups can add their own content of unlicensed stuff (and maybe even get paid for it)
5. This one is the least important, but: what's the link between the real paper volumes and the online subscription

There's a very fail-proof way of making this happen (I can say that because I'm a target customer), but it's super unorthodox and not something a traditional businessman can do without having his heart skip a beat. If they have the courage to do it, more power to them.

To make it clear, manga follows the same rules that apply to anime. You can talk about it, you can even post individual pages or sets, but don't ask where to get them or say how you're getting them explicitly. I've been rather lazy about enforcing that since I figured you guys knew but let's make that clear now.
You should totally put that in the OP. It was one of those "eh, I guess that's how it is, but since it's never enforced I don't know anymore" type of thing.

Naruto:
Nice chapter but kinf of felt more could have been added. Some things kind of felt like it wasn't needed. Overall though nice chapter and kind of glad the flashback is coming to an end. I kind of had a snicker at a flashback within a flashback.

One Piece:
First thing that I kind of got annoyed by in the chapter is Iva's speech pattern. Unless I read a wrong scan not quite sure why Iva's now substituting Y for V instead of W. Sounds silly but it was quite annoying and seemed like an unnatural pattern...I mean ''vou'' instead of you doesn't seem as smooth as Vhen instead of When. Other than that though nice chapter. I can only assume that the whole luffy rukus is a sign of Bon clay being alive and well (I hope anyway) although I think it makes reference to allies. If not i'm not quite sure since Oda kind of has a way of pulling the rug from under your feel when you think it's a safe bet. Or maybe Luffy (or bon as luffy) has beaten up another Tenryubito, also I guess it's pretty safe to say that guy is sabo.

I thought Iva has been doing that all through the anime and the manga? lol, have I read wrong.

I wonder if they will ever bring up Impel down again, I want more Sadi-chan, she was awesome, lol.

Iva did this all the time.

My internet is gone so I have to feed off scraps once in a while, and then I come to the news that One Manga is getting shut down to? The internet is going to be so shitty when my internet is fixed. :(

Bleach

Meh Aizen something something.

Naruto

I'm liking how things were explained like why only half of the 9 tails chakra was sealed in naruto, and why Minato had to resort to the death god move.

One Piece

Cause in the japanese version he says the word for "you" with an accent. It just doesn't work well in english I guess.

Kodomo no Jikan Chapter 63:
Aoki seems like a decent father figure to Rin so far, but the extent of Reiji's dependence on Rin being with him is worrying. I understand Reiji's bad relationship and death with his parents left him a bit traumatized, but it seems that his unstableness is showing in Rin when her happiness is threatened. Aoki's supervision seems to be ending with Shirai telling him it's not his place and that he should move out of Rin/Reiji's home. He seemed to bring a healthy attitude to the home as opposed to the creepy Reiji waiting for Rin to grow up. I wonder if Rin is going to blame Aoki moving out on herself though... Looks like Kuro's Mom is either going out with someone or cheating on her husband. She looks really upset in the last panels, and the fact that her and Rin are absent from school worries me.

Reiji moe moe~!

I wonder why it is important for the plot that only half of the 9-tails be sealed within Naruto?

Couldn't it have been written so that the whole of the 9-tails was sealed by the 4th, upon which he died of exhaustion or something?

Are they going anywhere with this?

The fourth should have died of exhaustion? That's a great idea. And Kushina died because her heart was broken.

Kudos for your reading skills. I'm not saying he should have died of exhaustion.

I'm wondering why they wrote it so that only half of the fox was sealed within Naruto and where they are going with this.

I don't think the only reason they wrote it that way was because they didn't know how to send the 4th off with a bang, without having to let him use the Death God technique.

Bakuman 95

This was the first good chapter in a while. I love the end twist, this is FAR better than the "will cancel one of his series" stuff (I hated that idea).

I just finished Monster and wow, what a read. The last two volumes were just brilliant, the way everything tied together. Furusawa really knows how to write a suspenseful story...

Ashita no Joe is definitely 100x better than ippo, but unfortunately, very little of it is available online. If you don't mind watching the anime, you should be able to find that subbed.

Don't even think you can find that series subbed.:( (well fully anyway).

I don't think there is anything of significance to read into that, minato said it wasn't feasable and pointless to seal/kill all of the 9 Tails chakra because it would revive later at one point anyway.
