Could be a huge drop today, since Sunday peaks are Euro hours peaking at 4-5 pm est.

If this holds, Mon are usually about -10% vs Sun. So tomorrow might peak at about 13k or so. Sunday late nights drop a lot too. If it ends at 14.5k, it'll probably be about 4k at 6 am. Might even dip to the high 3s.

First diablo had coop/multiplayer mode(up to 4 ppl, could be coop or pvp too, u fricken cut off enemy ear if u pked him ) , and game launched on pc early 1997, later in 98 it had amazing psx port with couch coop(save needed whole memory card rip, but it was worth it ;p ).

Skull and Bones is still getting updates from Ubisoft and it's consistently under 300 players on Steam. For Honor is considered a success for Ubisoft and it crested over 10k CCU on Steam like 6 times in its 8 year history.

I'm not anywhere close to hitting the panic button on Marathon, especially considering I see 4 or 5 relatively easy fixes that'll improve retention considerably imo. I'll get my hand closer to that panic button if S2 doesn't show some improvement. I think it's a layup.

I don't understand the people claiming there is a "floor" at a certain number. WoW declines have not decreased outside of major changes. Until we get any sign of WoW declines dropping the floor is 0.

Jacob Novak obviously doesnt follow the game closely or simply doesnt know anything about trending.

Doesnt make sense any game would have a floor/plateau of 15k when it is dropping every week about -20%. A baseline of core gamers keeping it stable will happen when those weekly drops flatten out to 0%. And you arent going to jump from -20% to 0% in a week. It'll smooth out slowly. Some games dont have that and drop to 0 CCU. But some games can achieve having a stable xxxx CCU even after 10 years.

Marathon is not at that point yet. Still in freefall mode.

Only way to prop up CCU in a big way is Season 2 is a giant success or some kind of F2P/sub plan strategy. But status quo with some minor weekly tweaks, it's still going down. Cryo, big patch and -20% sales price didnt help the ballpark -20% weekly CCU drop much at all except for a bit of less severe % drops for a week or two. But now back to -20% lately again.

Steam's Marathon forum is hilarious. Sometimes people troll with misleading numbers taken at weird hours of the day, but still funny. At the beginning it more evened out, but most of the supporters bailed ship already as the game crashed down the tubes.

You got to sift through many similar threads for gold comments, but often someone on that forum will update CCU. So if anyone doesnt check themselves or someone in this thread didnt do it yet, someone on that thread will. Those threads will also go over stuff like cheating or long MM times too which we dont really discuss here.

If I remember correctly:

Destiny community (streamers and influencers) went out of their way to help marathon. (if you go to twitch, the ones streaming marathon are Destiny content creators). But Bungie failed to capture a new audience. Marathon had like 70% crossover with Destiny players... In other words:

Marathon didn't have a Concord-like lifespan because of them.

That realization should be depressing and completely humiliating for everyone at Bungie.

He also understands/feels or even fears that Sony could kill Bungie. So, his solutions are meant to show Sony that there is still an audience that justifies (not even Bungie) but keeping the IP Destiny alivie. (even under another studio)

I really think Destiny is just done for short of a miracle.

Edge of Fate might have been a bad update / expansion from what I've heard about the portal, but people didn't even show up to try it. It managed 1/3rd the numbers of prior expansions on launch. The quality of Edge of Fate didn't ultimately matter. It could have been the best content Bungie ever produced and it still would have under performed because people have lost faith in Bungie.

The community was sick of Bungie's bullshit, stuck around for the Final Shape, and took the opportunity to fuck off and be free of the cycle. I didn't even bother with The Final Shape and just ducked out shortly after Lightfall because I didn't believe in Bungie anymore. Seeing them ruin the IP, lore, and world they built by shitting Star Wars content into it just proved me right.

People do not want more Destiny from Bungie, and the Destiny 3 people are just huffing copium.

At best Marathon only managed to convert a few most loyal Destiny fans. Which means its in no way welcoming to new players and its also helping Bungie in no way.

In other words, Marathon is going to die.

They can try to make it more accessible, F2P, regular PvP TDM. But otherwise this game is officially dead by Summer which was my initial guess.

Sponsored Dire Marsh is a pretty good attempt at helping new players, although hardcore players still get to keep all their upgrades like being able to use their abilities faster etc.
