Marathon |OT| A Shell of its Former Self.

Done for the season. Donated all my gear to folks on Perimeter last night. think I'm down to a few attachments and some salvage.

Absolutely lived up to my expectations. Sure theres lots of areas that need improvements and quality of life stuff required but the core game is so good.

560 hours of fun for £35, best deal in gaming.

8.5/10.
 
Just one ordered an PS5 elite headset just for Marathon because I dislike the comms coming through my controller.
That's how much I love Marathon, I'm buying a headset just for this game.

Yep can't wait to be honest. I used to hate the idea of wipes and couldn't get my head around them until I started playing seasonal ARPG's again.

Fresh Start, new meta, new gear everyone on a level playing field.

Jesus. That's a lot of playtime. I might make 200 before seasons end and that was with maybe 40-50 hours of Arc during the same time period and that was my gaming time absolutely exhausted. Damn I'd love to have that much spare time haha.

Sick and tired of dying to mizzy and grenade spams... they really need to change grenades so you pick a type and load in with two max.

I told the boys that we are full send the rest of the week. I don't want a single thing in my vault that's worthwhile when it wipes.

I can't imagine playing Marathon without headphones.
 
Holy fuck just watched the vidoc. They cooked. Night marsh looks amazing, the sentinel class sounds awesome, new weapons looks great and the cradle system is really nice. Also free week and probably sale too. This is how you do a new season to feel it fresh, not the arc raiders way. Also love the idea of shuffling weapon drops so i can finally see and use the guns i barely did this season, brilliant. So hyped!

I'll be honest with you...When we made that bet, I assumed Bungie would pull a free weekend within the alloted time frame.

I think you're in trouble but I respect that you were man enough to step up to the plate. You are noble adversary and your punishment will reflect that.

Ehh, yeah, i forgot they could pull the temporarily free card, but a bet is a bet.

Tell you what, if they do manage to cross 50k players, since the bet also included making the other play a game, i'll play this. Is that fine?

The last time I got this excited for a new season was Fortnite circa 2017. The next 4 seasons are going to pop for Marathon. Very optimistic after seeing that.
 
To that, Dire Marsh and Night Marsh will both be available at all times for at least the first week of the season. After that, the maps will rotate availability with one another every 90 minutes.

Implemented a round of CPU performance improvements, as well as adding support for frame generation on PC. Performance optimization is an ongoing priority for us, and we anticipate further improvements in future updates.

Do you typically like twitchy reflex based PvP games? I was going to try to get you to play Tyr, which is kind of the opposite of Marathon.

Dude, i've played plenty of PvP shooters in the past, and today i play plenty of boomer shooters, my problem with these types of games today isn't strictly speaking PvP or multiplayer, but the way they're done. Fast paced action isn't an issue, dont mind sucking at it either.

So, if i do have to play one of these two anyway - assuming it crosses the mark, honestly i still dont think this is enough to cross 50k, maybe 30k or 40k - i'd rather it be Marathon so i can educately make fun of its downfall.
 
The Cradle System sounds potentially annoying?

Every time I want to change Runners I have to redistribute Cradle points? Feels like they should be more permanent buffs.
 
  • There is a new daily Ranked Sponsored Kit that contains a loadout appropriate for your rank—the higher your rank, the better the gear.
  • Increased Vault space: a fully upgraded Vault can now hold up to 512 grid spaces of items.
  • Added the ability to batch select items in your Vault.
  • Added a loot filter where if you select a slot you're missing on your loadout, it'll filter only the loot you can equip in that slot.
  • Simplified and streamlined the lobby UI, so that you can get into a run faster and more intuitively. This includes combining the Loadout and Vault menus.

Practically addressed all of the complaints I had, I like that it will show how many of your or other crew member kills were stolen. Looking forward to it
