Ooh very nice, full screen and mostly full lap footage of all tracks!

Footage of menu's at 4:15 too. Stamps also confirmed.

I love the aesthetics of Cloudtop cruise and eclectrodome, and wario mountain looks like an awesome track overall as does bowsers castle. Those are among my fave's so far.

Rainbow road isn't as spectacular as I was expecting but it's still pretty good compared to most other tracks.

Seems like they had time-limited access to near final code for preview purposes since he mentions the servers going down, but that might have just been for trying out online play.
 
You can finally see the new Rainbow Road in full on that video. Hmm, I have mixed thoughts about it. From a gameplay perspective, I think it'll be fun to race on, but I wasn't impressed at all. Like I said earlier, I was way more impressed by the MK64 RR remake. That one felt so... magical looking? I'm not sure why.

Yeah this is funny, we only had very little footage of the track which seemed to be the usual boring beach/lagoon-type course, and it ends up being like this. LOL.

Right, from that initial little snippet of it, I thought it'd be pretty shitty.

From the middle on, it just kicks major ass.

And starting out underwater should make it an iconic Mario Kart track on principle alone.

I can see this game getting 7-9 scores all around.
Lackluster roster, lack of battle arenas and not being able to freely pick a track in online mode being the cons/low points of the game.

Wait a bit – it is not confirmed whether it can be disabled in private lobbies / tournaments.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea. Like you said, it'll prevent people from spamming the same tracks over and over but I can see how it's going to be a problem for some people whining about how "restrictive" the game is and blah blah blah... and I'm sure some reviews will have the same whining.

By the way, I just watched that VideoGamerTV video with direct footage and.. that Bowser's Castle, holy fuck.. is it epic or what? I love everything about it.
I just realize those Dry Bones cheering.. it's like a sick joke. "Yeah, Dry Bones is not playable but he's still in the game"

I dunno I get why people are disappointed with rainbow road. It isn't THAT impressive. But it looks really fun and with how tight it is and all the turns and curves I think it'll be a much more compact and chaotic rainbow road than we're used to. I'm excited to try it out

Lackluster rosters? Sure, there's some missing favourites (I'm still mourning the loss of Birdo, Dry Bones & Diddy Kong), but there's plenty of characters to chose from.

And I'm sure (and hopeful!) that we'll get some new ones in DLC.

Multiplayer vs was in 7 just not single player, I think thats what you meant but yeah I'm so happy its back! I hope you can choose which courses you want to race from any cup and not just the cups as they are in grand prix. I'm also interested in racing with no items to see how the AI is.

I feel a little bit better about the new RR after that footage from Videogamer. There's a section with branching paths depending on which jump you take -- that's something I like in many of the tracks but the new RR literally separates them and they sort of "cross-over" each other unlike some of the other tracks. It's simple looking, yeah, but at least it's giving some variety to the track that I thought wasn't there before (from the other footage).

However, it still doesn't look that impressive visually from RR64 and, more importantly, doesn't look like a terribly difficult Rainbow Road (but then RRs do vary in difficulty to begin with so I guess I can't complain about that).

I will say one of the most annoying things about MK Wii online (didn't really delve into MK7) was that people would pick the same tracks multiple times in a row or would choose Luigi Circuit WAY too often.

I'm all for methods to improve how tracks are chosen online.

I don't know if it's just me, bit It looks less wider than most other tracks. With no barriers, several tight turns and 12 racers, it's going to be pretty crazy compared to other tracks.
 
I'd be surprised if we couldnt choose a specfic track for tournaments, and maybe even private matches.

It's neat we can lock vehicles to a specific type, for thoughs who dont like bikes in the race. As well as having no items at all.
 
What's everyones thoughts on the "Women of Racing Organization" signs? They feature Rosalina, Toadette, Wendy, Peach, Daisy, and Birdo. It seems odd that they would put Birdo on there over an actual female racer like the babies or PGP. Does anyone think this could hint at another column of characters?

I know I'm grasping at straws here, but it does seem odd to me.

I'm also thinking Birdo might be in based on that, but ugh... who knows. Waluigi fucking Pinball in its entirety was in Mario Kart 7, with no Waluigi. So I'm pessimistic about the chances of that at the moment. Same with Dry Bowser/Dry Bones for Bone Dry Dunes.

Could you show me where i can see this? I think you're onto something. Remember, the sunshine airport level revealed unannounced tracks. The game is still 29 days away...plenty of time for more info, before release.

Also, someone mentioned the light/medium/heavy character selection ratio is off by a decent amount.

It's possible she was cut late into development so they could push the game out.

I've heard the same about Waluigi and MK7 resulting in Waluigi Pinball with no Waluigi, but I don't have a reputable source on that.

Thanks. That would just seem odd if birdo wasnt in the game.

I know Nintendo is trying to reach out to female gamers, and the male to female ratio, in mk8, is about 3:1.

Thanks dood. Some of the best video of MK8 so far. Not that awful 4 player splitscreen footage at least.

After Mario Kart 64 as a kid I always imagined what the Gamecube Mario Kart would look like. Double Dash was NOT it. This is what I had in mind really. Love the look of MK8 so much.
 
Here's my prediction for the characters we'll get IF the roster turns out to be 36 instead of 30.

Birdo (Medium)
Dry Bowser (Heavy)
Luma (Light) or Lubba (Heavy) It seems odd that Rosalina doesn't have a Luma in this game, so that combined with the Galaxy Air logo makes me think Luma will be in.
Fuzzy (Light) If Luma is in that makes Fuzzy Batteries the only ad without a relation to the game that I can think of.
Diddy (Medium)
Another returning character (Come on Wiggler!)
