Mario Kart 8 : new trailer

Just watched the 16 tracks compilation video...
My jaws is on the floor, that art-style suit the Mario universe so much.
*Prepare to be blown away by the new Bowser Castle/Rainbow Road*

And they put so much work into the old retro track, seriously that's amazing.

For me this is the natural evolution of video games. Like, when I was playing Mario Kart 64 in the 90s this is what I envisioned we'll have in the future. Still game of the gen candidate, and yes I struggle to think of a video game I would say has better graphics than Mario Kart 8.

Damn these last two trailers have taken me from pretty uninterested in yet another Mario Kart to being ready to splash out money on yet another Mario Kart.
To think that they might have salvaged to N64 Rainbow Road is nothing short of a miracle to me, changes to retro tracks appear to have given some a new lease of life (Toad's Turnpike looks a lot more interesting as well now) and i'm happy to see Royal Raceway and Moo Moo Meadows make the jump.
The roster is packed, so happy that they didn't drop Shyguy after MK7, i'm a bit spoilt for character choice right now and here's hoping that they've left some unexpected character choices aside as I think this has been a bit of a running tradition since Double Dash first brought in unlockable characters.

With Mario Kart 7 I wanted to say it was possibly the best MK game at a base level yet it seemed a bit rushed out stepping back in some content and options that held it back from having my top spot. Here with 8 it's looking like they've put in the extra time to deliver where MK7 fell a bit short.

I really hope they're working on another Mario game with that engine... 3D World was aleady awesome, but this is even more fabulous.

Nintendo may have struggled switching to HD development, but man, was it worth the wait.

Looks absolutely stunning. What impressed me the most though, was the soundtrack. Holy moly, the music and sound effect in general are sensational. I love the Rainbow Road music!

Fuck me that looks fantastic, absolutely adore the art style, lighting and the tracks... This is going to be a great game!

Played it last year at Gamescom and loved it...is it just me or is it looking even better?? This game is gorgous. I will get a Wii U because of this (and because the game library for the WiiU is getting filled with must-play titles) :D

This needs to happen

I'd like to know whether the boomerang can take out multiple racers when you throw it, in the same way it takes out any enemies in its trajectory when you use it in the 3D Mario games. It'd be fantastic to line up two or three racers at once and knock them all out, or get yourself behind a rival to send the boomerang through him (or her) on its way back. Would certainly help differentiate it from just being a short-range red shell.

Still holding out for Wiggler.

Why do I always main characters that are one shots? First Funky Kong, now Wiggler.

They really nailed the lighting! Looks like its 720p but thats the reality of the box, but it still looks grand altogether.

Retro courses are a fine nod indeed too.

I just watched Eurogamer's videos; the game looks so, so good.

I am getting closer and closer to buying a Wii U because there are quite a few games I really want to play.

Regarding the 1080p, according to Metro:

Nintendo has also stated that the game will run at 1080p and 60 frames per second in single-player[...]

Let's hope "Nintendo" is not some random rep and instead some higher up that actually knows his stuff. Time will tell.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Why couldn't they have used this type of art style and world detail for their flagship Mario game in the Wii U? This looks head-and-shoulders above 3D world in terms of presentation.

I don't think the generation's over just yet.

Besides resolution, I find it odd Nintendo also comments on the FPS. They usually try to deflect all tech talk with "ask someone else" or "it's Mario in HD".

It looks exactly the same in terms of art style. Exactly the same.
