Mario Kart 8 : new trailer

I'm hyped. I'm really speechless when I saw those retro tracks in motion. I felt that I was thrown into rainbow tracks of nostalgia where I remembered almost every tracks in their own original source. I already planned to buy it on first day, and HELL I'm GOING TO spend all day to play this game with my kids. Hype Mode REVVED!
 
I initially planned on skipping out on Mario Kart 8 since its one of the few franchises I get fatigued on, but this game looks so damn good. Decision reversed! Now I just need a damn Wii U to play it on.
 
Kind of miss piranha plant as a playable character, but the item looks great.
Also, gotta love those mustache physics.

I would love it if they decided to show a trailer in April Direct, where you would watch the banana suddenly raining down, BAM The reveal of Kong Family. Dixie, Funky, Cranky, and Diddy Kong
 
Looks fucking incredible! Also, that Rainbow Road song is soooo nostalgic for me. Makes me swoon when I hear it. xD

I know this game is gonna be super fun, but I do hope there's more than just racing and battle modes.
 
I sincerely hope that Nintendo has decided to release this in late May out of real necessity, and not to "spread out releases." Release this f'ing game sooner if you can, please.
 
The game looks fantastic! It's also nice to hear about being able to switch off items you don't want in play. I wonder if Nintendo is going to be collecting any sort of metrics behind-the-scenes to use as a guide for what to keep/nix in future installments.

So... Any word on whether or not we'll be getting that sweet special edition of the game that Euro-land is getting? I've been holding off on pre-ordering the game for fear they'll turn around and offer it for the US.

This would be great, but at the same time, I'm keeping my expectations in check, since if the Kong family were waiting in the wings, one would think they would've showed them in February, when Tropical Freeze needed promotion. Instead, they showed the Koopalings.
 
Sorry, but I thought this trailer was awful, and that is entirely due to 90% of it having the camera facing the racers looking back. They seem to have done this in all the trailers, but at least in the other ones it was just here and there.

The game itself seems really good though. Personally I don't think the graphics are anything special by Nintendo's standards (keeping in mind tech wise all I care about is a stable frame rate. I'm all about art direction). But the course design and gameplay seem to be the best since Double Dash. The new items look really fun and THANK GOD they have done away with rubber band AI and a lot of item customization options. And also, for the first time I actually might heavily delve into the retro tracks, as they actually seemed to update them in a significant way this time.
 
Nintendo, pricedrop your system and bundle in Mario Kart. If they don't do this then there are no words. That's the one Nintendo game they have which truly can shift consoles.
 
Why is the boxart so good? Because I want it even more now. And I have to wait till June to play this game. Looks stunning as well.

Been waiting since November for Pikmin 3 to get a price drop and its still inexplicably $54.99 everywhere.

Yeah I really think this is the direction they have to go.
 
What I really, really want more than anything now, is a proper free-for-all knockout balloon battle mode, like was in the original SMK and MK64. Not a fan of the way it's done now, where your balloons are reset after losing them all. I just want the option for it.

As much as that would be great, Nintendo's bottom line would be hit so hard it'd make 2014 their worst fiscal year ever

Are there no words because of how insane that is? Nintendo is already selling the Wii U at a loss, and now you're asking them for another price drop?

having a Mario Kart 8 bundle at launch is not a smart idea imo. it's their one big system seller so they're going to get a hardware bump regardless. they need the software profits. I think the best course of action for them would be to release Mario Kart 8 normally and then release a bundle in late November

I take it the first person view is gone then, shame, I enjoyed that. Gave you a good sense of speed which seems to be lacking from these videos, 200cc is needed!
 
The game looks absolutely incredible but at the same time it seems like there are way too many things happening at once. Definitely day 1. I'm also not too happy about some of the characters.. Nintendo Kart needs to happen.
 
June is gonna be hell online... The MK Wii servers will be shut down by that time and I feel a lot of MK7 players (arguably the best MK to date) will switch to MK8, since it seems to be even better in every regard.

Brace yourselves, hell is gonna break loose in June!!! After putting more than 400 hours into MK7 online, I know what I'm talking about. Even if some won't believe it, but MK is one of the most competitive game's ever.

Shit's gonna be craaazy! Can't wait! :D
 
So looking forward to this game, and I love that toads turnpike is a level as i really enjoyed that one (I kinda like the Mario kart levels that take place on roads with cars etc driving around, adds to the fun weaving between them while dodging the shells!)

I kinda want to see the battle maps so I can plan my attack on my mates, but I suspect they will keep the 3/4 player stuff under wraps until reviews as its gonna be 30 fps for that (couple of sites have already confirmed this I believe) . That and people will probably complain about graphics as lots of detail being shrunk down to a 1/4 of a screen always looks odd :p
 
Probably been brought up before but I can't be bothered to read the whole topic - confirmed no 5 player local multiplayer? Cos that's a bit of a disappointment if so.

I want this too, but need confirmation if is coming to the US
I will buy 2 copies (one to keep, one to play) if this gets here.

Either way,... i'm beyond hyped for this game >.<

I've always been in for day 1, just based on how great Mario Kart has always been. But WOW! I'm so wanting to play this game right now. It looks fantastic! The wait is still too long...
