Mario Kart 9 or Super Smash Kart?

I don't care what it's called, but there's way too much recycling/incest in a Mario-only roster. It should have been open to all of Nintendo's roster since Smash came out.
 
I liked the AC stuff, Excitebike track, and the Zelda track, but didn't think Link fit very well. If they're a bit more thoughtful about how non-Mario characters appear in-gamen then I think guest characters are fine. Toon Link would have been a much better fit, for example.
 
Mario Kart please. I personally think going too far from the "Mario universe" actually cheapens the atmosphere of the game. In MK8 it was fine. But no I would not want a Kart Racer that is "All Nintendo"

I knew when Nintendo poisoned the well with Link in MK8, more and more casuals would be like "durrrr make it NINTENDO KART"

This would completely break the Mario canon. If Mario and the rest of the gang are all actors in a video game play, fulfilling different roles to accommodate the gameplay of the creators, what happens when you put Link in??

Oh, so I guess all stakes in the Zelda games are just gone forever. All the stakes in the Star Fox games are just gone forever. I guess it doesn't matter that the squid kids are the evolutions of humans in a real post apocalpse Earth, THEYRE IN MARIO KART NOW SO OUR LORE DOESNT MATTER ANYMORE

this will not only irreparably DAMAGE the Mario canon but also completely undermine every Nintendo universe it takes with it.
 
Super Smash Kart called Mario Kart X Nintendo All-Stars or something.

Give me all the crazy ideas:

-Shulk riding a Mini Skell
-Inklings on a Kraken shaped ATV
-Captain Falcon riding the Blue Falcon
-Fox/Falco riding hovering Arwings
It'll be landmasters
-Samus in her gunship
-Kirby on a Warp Star
-Robin flying on a Wyvern Bike

I love how you picked games that have time travel, worm holes, and human-speech cats that are cryogenically frozen and sent into space for thousands of years.

Considering how inconsistent they are at selecting Mario series characters in recent rosters I'm intrigued to see the potential Super Smash Kart Roster....

I'd personally prefer Mario Kart 8 DLC packs 3 and 4 with an emphasis on bringing back characters that didn't make it (Dry Bones, Birdo, Bowser Jr, ect) and a focus on sub series characters (DK characters like Diddy, Cranky and Funky, Wario characters like Captain Syrup, Mona, Dr Crygor)

I wouldnt say perfected the formula, Battle mode sucked in MK8.
 
Personally i'd like "Mario & Sonic: Super Star Kart Racing"

Gameplay takes the best bits of MK8 and All Stars Transformed (Basically Kart sized gameplay of AST with Anti gravity and MK track design for new tracks), Character cast includes from all sorts of sega and nintendo games, Track number to rival MK8 with at least 16 new tracks and 16 retro ones (Taking from pervious MKs, Both sonic racing games, Diddy Kong Racing and F-Zero) and all the extra modes from All Stars Racing (Knock out, battle race, Tank battle, Drift, etc) and Classic MK battle mode.

No. God no. In fact, keep it just Mario characters instead. No extended roster. Fire Emblem is hot over saturated weebgarbage and has basically ruined Smash 4.

Id rather have Mario Kart 1 character selection then 500 fire emblem characters.
 
More Nintendo characters please. Seeing stuff like Excite Bike and FZero and how they open up different styles for tracks is a plus as well.

Instead of 'Mario Kart 9' call it 'Mario Kart Smash' or 'Mario Kart: Super Smash' and make the transition to a full blown Super Smash Kart over the next couple of games.

Depending on if DKR2 ever actually becomes a thing, I'll give bonus points if they ever decide to revamp something from DKR and make it fit the modern style of Mario Kart.
 
Mario & Nintendo All-Stars Kart.

I would love that, even if I really like Mario Kart 8, having a good focus on a racing game with many different Nintendo characters would be a nice change.
 
Call it Mario Kart 9, but put in several characters from other franchises with a track each. Still have the Marios franchise be the focus.
 
Actually, it'd be pretty funny to see Bayonetta in Mario Kart 8. Imagine her sitting — her knees would be above her head, lol.
 
They're going to call it Mario Kart something either way, but I'd love to have more characters from different franchises.

Though I'm happy as long as Waluigi and Daisy are in.
 
I don't care if it's Mario Kart or Smash Kart. But I would love to see the designs of the vehicles of Samus, Kirby, Fox, etc. Even if only in concept art.
 
Here's an idea, albeit one that would take a ton of work.

Call it Mario Kart 9, and have four cups with new Mario courses... four cups with old Mario courses... like usual... but then a third set of cups, with Nintendo guest courses. :-O

So two-thirds pure Mario — same number of tracks as past Mario Karts — plus one-third guest material.

The Mario franchise includes subseries like the Mario RPGs, the Wario games and the Donkey Kong games. There's dozens of characters they could use in Mario Kart before including more characters from other franchises.

l'm not saying l'm opposed to playing as Link or whatever, Mario Kart stopped being purely Mario Kart with the DS version and the inclusion of Rob anyway.

Mario Kart 9 but PLEASE branch into other Mario properties, such as the RPG games, Wario Land or WarioWare, Yoshi's Island, etc.

Expand on Mario. There's SO MUCH there. We already saw a ton of creativity in the track design of MK8 alone. Imagine if Nintendo went nuts with other locations and characters from the Mario universe.

I'm not against guest tracks and guest characters. MK8 made them work (except for ExciteBike Arena which was shit soup). But that's not where the focus should be.
 
I was always wondering how Samus could slot in here since people tend to bring her visually and dare I say Federation Force has a chibi style that's heading in a suitable direction, now they just need to make it not look like complete arse

Combine the first and second posts. Mario Kart 9 with more Nintendo characters with a track create/upload mode. People can make some pretty amazing things with the right tools.
 
Mario Kart 9, the brand name is stronger than Smash Bros, combining the names won't do any good. Just add Nintendo characters as a bonus, but expand on the Mario universe even more.
 
Instead of the crappy Olympics games, how about Nintendo Kart x Sonic All Stars Racing? Both are great games. Nintendo and Sega have a boatload of great characters.

But seriously, they should just continue to make it Mario Kart but add Nintendo characters/tracks as DLC like they did with 8. Mario has plenty of characters yet to mine if they actually bother, but I'm sure Mario Kart 9 will feature the debut of riveting characters like Baby Waluigi and Slightly Tarnished Orange-Platinum Daisy instead of Tatanga or Wart.
 
there is no chance in hell they are dropping the mario kart branding

there will probably be more Nintendo guest characters as DLC, though
 
I'd honestly like Mario Kart to stick with characters from the Mario universe*. There were plenty of Mario characters left out in MK8 that I'd rather see make a return in a MK9 and there's plenty more Mario characters and elements they could use for racers, tracks and items. Maybe give some of those Mario Land games a nod or two.

Still, Nintendo Kart would be alright, but only if they went out of their way to mostly add characters that weren't playable in Smash. Ofcourse you gotta have your Link and Kirby, but copying whatever fighters they have into racers would be hella boring. Instead get some of those sidecharacters (Anthony Higgs! Doc Louis!) or obscure old school characters in there.

*guest characters are cool tho, dont get me wrong

I honestly bet people would rather just have another Sonic All Stars racing. Keep 'em separate.

Basically, one game representing Kart Racers and the other representing Arcade Racers.
 
What I want added in the next Mario Kart:

Bring in a bunch of characters from all Nintendo games just like Smash, every character has one niche ability along with adjusted vehicle stats (like how certain characters in Mario Kart has more weight then others.)

Balloon Popping stages like from Mario Kart Wii, or 64. Or you know. Any other Mario Kart game with an arena-like stage for balloon pop. Mario Kart 8 killed me inside for not having balloon pop, it was by far my most favorite game mode in the game. (I believe even Miyamoto said he was disappointed it was never added.)

That's it.
